Story
Meet Jethro, this poor baby was dumped in a corn field where he lived for several weeks. Folks in the area tried to catch him but to no avail so they would leave food and water for him daily. Someone had finally contacted us so we headed out with our trap and caught him on the first night. It appeared that Jethro had never been around people and he was very very shy. He has come a long way but still needs work, this is why getting him into a permanent home is very important. He's the sweetest boy ever and has the most awesome Beagle howl that you have ever heard! In order to adopt him, YOU MUST HAVE A SECURE FENCED YARD! He has been neutered, fully vaccinated, microchipped and he is crate trained. He truly is a little gem! PLEASE NOTE THAT WE ARE LOCATED IN TENNESSEE AND YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO MEET OUR PETS PRIOR TO ADOPTION! ADOPTION FEE: $500

Story
Eddie is a handsome, old man looking for a cozy home to rest his bones. He is estimated to be 15 - 17 years old and he weighs 25lbs. Eddie is a happy boy and his tail is always wagging. He loves being outside and would love short, slow walks. Eddie appreciates having company but can be left alone for hours at a time largely without issue. He has shared a home with young children and is kind and affectionate, although he doesn't like having his legs touched - he will snarl a bit - so muzzling during nail clippings is a must. Eddie has shown an ability to get up and down a set of stairs without issue and enjoys having a backyard to sniff in, but he mostly likes to be indoors. He travels well in cars and has made multiple-hour trips without issue. Eddie has been great with all the dogs he has met and was also fine living with cats. But, Eddie can be a bit food aggressive, so if he is in a home with another dog feeding him separately is a good solution. Similarly, if you drop food on the ground, it's probably in your best interest to just let him have it! He also has displayed some bathroom challenges - the urinary has been managed with doggie diapers but he is still learning to signal when he needs to go outside to poop. Eddie is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and recently had full bloodwork. He also recently had a dental and had a few teeth pulled, but his oral health is in good shape too. Eddie is in good health and isn't currently on any medications, although he may need future medication to manage pain he may be feeling in his legs. Eddie has been well-loved and has a lot of love left to give! To apply to adopt Eddie, please fill out an application at vintagepetrescue.org/adopt

Story
Beagle /Cocker Spaniel mixCharlie was born December 8, 2021 to a Cocker Spaniel mom and Beagle dad. He is completely crate trained and house traine. Charlie walks great on a leash, but like any typical Beagle, his nose never leaves the ground. He is extremely sweet natured, and plays well with his four legged foster siblings. If given the chance, Charlie will chase cats. He loves to run around his yard and police it of squirrels! Please send us your phone number if you would like to hear more about Charlie. November 26, 2024, 9:00 am

Story
If you are interested in SKIPPY or in adopting a pup in general, the first step is an adoption application. Download an adoption application here Please email the completed application to adoptionteam4.woofriver@gmail.com Please submit an application rather than an inquiry with no application attached. SKIPPY is one of the most gentle souls in all the universe. He has deep brown heart melting eyes that always seem to be in awe of the big bright beautiful world around him. A couple of his favorite things are cuddle time with his foster family and sunning in the backyard. SKIPPY currently lives in a foster home with many dogs. He is never pushy and has zero desire to be the boss. SKIPPY’s kind, unobtrusive nature will make it easy for him to get along with all resident animals in his forever home. However, SKIPPY would also be perfectly fine as the only pup in the house, so he’s an easy addition to the family. If you are lucky enough to have sweet SKIPPY take a piece of your heart into his paw, he will hold on to it forever! His $540 adoption fee covers his interstate health certificate and the cost of transport to the New England area For an adoption application on SKIPPY click here Please email the completed application to adoptionteam4.woofriver@gmail.com. It typically takes us around 5 BUSINESS DAYS to process an application. We will reach out to you as soon as your application is processed. Thank you in advance for your patience. All of our dogs start their journey in Memphis, Tennessee where they remain in loving foster families until they are adopted. Once adopted, some pups stay local in Memphis. Many others travel via one of our transport partners to their new forever homes. We use Pet Express Transport (https://petexpresstupelo.wordpress.com) for our Nashville, Knoxville and New England adoptions. For our Midwest adopters, we have our own private transport. Breed selection is done in conjunction with two local vets and is not to be considered a guarantee but rather a well-educated decision from well qualified staff. Due to the extremely high volume of inquiries we receive, we ask that you request, complete, and submit an application before asking additional questions. We try very hard to include all pertinent information in our bios. We are excited to help you find your new family member. However, Woof River is 100% volunteer operated. We want to spend our time saving dogs and assisting those adopters who have taken the time to complete an application. Thank you for understanding. Please LIKE Woof River on Facebook! Bonded 1 1/2 year old Beagle sistersCricket and Tilley are bonded 1 1/2 year old Beagle sisters whose owner wants them to be adopted together. They would be happy living in the country chasing rabbit, or becoming couch potatoes.
