Dog Day Out notes from last week: Today, I was so happy to get out of my kennel! I got to put on a collar and harness, and I got to go in a car!! I love the car! I wanted to help drive, but my new friends said I should eat cookies instead, so I looked out the window. I love going for walks! We walked a long way! I wanted to be in front, but my friends would stop, so I got to give them snuggles when they did that – I like snuggles more than cookies! We saw so many things! People and dogs and lots and lots of bikes! I don't worry about those things though, I have my friends! I almost tried to catch a squirrel, but it got away. That's okay; I gave more snuggles to my friends! Oh! And on the way back, I took a nap – I loved the quiet time. Three Words to Describe Me are affectionate – snuggly - and friendly. Notes from My Walker: Traviesa is such a delight! She pulls on the leash, but it seems like she just never got a chance to learn how to walk on a leash before. She did amazing on the busy trail – we saw bikes, walkers, and dogs, and she was non-reactive to almost everything. The small, barky dog got her attention, but he started talking first, and she displayed interest, with no reactive lunging or barking. She is not a cookie girl, but she LOVES to snuggle. We love it when dogs on the trail check in with their human friends, but Traviesa was at another level; she would stop and lean in for a hug before continuing the walk! She is a sweet, gentle, loving dog who deserves a home that will let her learn and give her the chance to be a fantastic companion dog.

Hi there! My name is Noonoo, and I’m a 13-month-old bundle of energy and joy! I’m a playful and active pup who loves adventures and staying on the move—I can hike for three hours straight without getting tired! I’m looking for a new owner who has the time and energy to keep up with me and provide lots of love and companionship. My current owner loves me dearly but has a busy schedule and can’t spend as much time with me on workdays as I need. If you’re ready for a loyal, fun-loving companion to brighten your days, I’m your dog!

Story
Hello there, I'm Chappell! I'm a spayed, 3 year old, Belgian Malinois mix that currently weighs about 55lbs. I'm a sweet, playful lady that would love to go home with a family that is comfortable and knowledgeable with Malinois. My new family should also be prepared to continue my training since I'm still working on my doggy social skills and learning to share. I absolutely adore human attention! Ear rubs are my favorite! My PHS volunteer friends say I'm a great walking companion because I don't pull and I check in frequently. I'm hoping for a family with dog savvy kids that are 10 or older. If you have a dog of a similar size, please bring him or her in so we can say hello before I officially join the family! I would love to meet the whole household before going to a home, so come on by and say hi! For more information, just ask Customer Service about Chappell! ID#A958527    Unless otherwise indicated, adoptable animals are located at our Lantos Center for Compassion at 1450 Rollins Road, Burlingame, CA 94010.  You may call us at 650-340-7022 to schedule an appointment, or just drop by. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Gentle-hearted ShepherdCoco is a 2.5 year-old Malinois / German Shepherd mix who weighs approximately 78lbs.  Coco is just a sweet, gentle-hearted boy. Curious, goofy, loving, and energetic - he loves everyone, and sees the best in them. Coco currently lives with two older 4-legged brothers and, while he would love to live with a fur-sibling, he is not part of a bonded pair. As long as he has fur friends to play with, Coco will be a happy boy! When playing with his human pals, Coco is very verbally responsive and wants to please. He knows several commands and loves to play complex games with his toys. When he gets a bit over-stimulated, he puts himself into a timeout under his foster family's kitchen table to rest and reset! Sweet Coco has been perfectly house trained since day one, loves car rides, loves to go for walks and is learning not to pull in excitement when he meets new friends - that is Everyone! Despite his size and youth, Coco does not need long hikes to manage his energy. 15-20 minutes a couple times a day and play sessions with his fur siblings are great exercise for Coco. Coco knows the benefit of "Sit", "Down" and "Touch" to get his favorite treats, and will benefit from continued positive reinforcement training. Check out Coco's profile on Rocky Kanaka! https://rockykanaka.com/one-leg-short-but-full-of-heart-a-german-shepherds-inspiring-escape-from-adversity/  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 25, 2025, 6:40 pm

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
10/03/24 02:48Doggy Day Out Report Today I: went on my first doggie day out! I was sooooo excited and just wanted to go, go, go! I hopped in the car all by myself and explored everything I could in the back seat (I was thankful my friend put some toys in the back for me to play with). When we got to the park I was excited to stretch my legs and get some exercise, and to sniff all the new smells. Even though I was excited to walk and sniff I still made sure to check in with my friend often. I showed off my sit for lots of yummy treats and got lots of compliments on the trail about what a pretty girl I am. Three Words to Describe Me are: Active, Intelligent, Attentive Notes from My Walker: Cherina is a very energetic girl, it did take a few minutes to get her leashed up as she was very excited and wiggly. She has no problem getting in the car but make sure you don’t have anything in the back you don’t want her to get into as she will explore every inch of the car she can haha. I recommend having some toys in the back for her as she is very toy motivated and likes to have something to chew on. She was excited to get walking and she does pull but not unmanageably. Despite her excitement to be out and sniffing she checks in with her walker very frequently and is very attentive to you. She is extremely smart, she knows sit and down, and is very food/toy motivated - with consistent training she could learn many commands. When we stopped for a break she was very affectionate, wanting to snuggle up and get pets, she can get a little mouthy when petting but she is only a year old and still has some puppy mouthiness and jumpiness. Overall Cherina is an extremely intelligent and motivated dog, she needs a lot of mental and physical stimulation in her day to day life but she has the potential to be a very talented girl.

Story
Redding is a handsome boy who requires a home that can help establish boundaries for him. Redding is house-trained and enjoys car rides, playing fetch, and playing in the water. He is also a regular in the shelter playgroups and does well with other dogs. Redding is a working dog who will benefit greatly from training and a savvy adopter or foster. He is two years old and is likely a Shepherd/Husky mix. Please help us save Redding by sharing his story. Observation comments: It takes time to familiarize and gain trust, so a slow introduction is recommended. This animal requires an experienced handler. It does not do well with sudden human approaches from all directions during the first meet-and-greet. Summary: Due to its size and strength, kids need to be supervised around the dog. This animal requires some space for himself, so do not approach without permission from the animal. Attempting to socialize with this animal is safe at a short distance away without constant, straight eye contact. If this animal acknowledges you, he will approach you naturally and accept your invitation. Once that happens, you will be his best buddy for life! Redding has a hit-or-miss personality. His German Shepherd is a bit picky, but he plays well in the boarding facility playgroup and has been tested at our partnered local boarding club. His personality will change with a calm, quiet, loving home over time.

Story
Shane is a shy boy; he will open up once he gets to know you. He needs an experienced adopter. He rides well in the car and does not shew or destroy stuff. Shane would love to walk and be by your side. Shane is currently with our boarding partner near the Tahoe area, and he loves to play and hang out with other dogs, cuddle, and meet new people. It's a relaxing, open-space environment. We are trying to find him a single-dog-only home with a mellow, quiet, and cozy household. If that is what you are, please consider opening your home for this young boy.
