Story
Meet Skipper: The Goodest Girl Nobody’s Adopted (Yet)Skipper is a two-year-old Black Mouth Cur mix with model-level looks and the personality of your funniest, most loyal bestie—all wrapped up in 46 lbs of snuggle-ready perfection. She’s house and crate trained, currently mastering the fine art of “sit” and “stay”, and will do literally anything for a treat (including pretend she knows tricks she definitely doesn’t).Here’s the sad part (cue tiny violin): Skipper has been with the rescue for almost a year. That’s 365 days of watching other dogs leave while she sits there like, “Cool cool, I’ll just... wait.”Skipper needs a kind, patient human who understands that trust takes time. But once you’re in? You’re her person for life. She’ll follow you around, make you laugh daily, and curl up next to you like she’s always belonged there.Loves: Walks, exploring, and being where the people are.Hates: Still waiting for her forever home.If you’ve got a couch to share and a heart ready for the most loyal love story ever, Skipper is your girl.Adopt her—because no one this awesome should still be waiting.IMPORTANT: Please read all below, especially if you live outside of Texas, which is where our rescue is located.Apply to adopt on our website: https://www.charmingpetrescue.org/adoptAll of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on shots.ALL of our animals are located in Boerne, TX, but transport after adoption is available to other states for a $300 fee for dogs or an additional fee varying by location for cats. Petfinder lists our pets as 'Out of Town' pets at other locations, and Adopt-a-Pet lists our location as a Transport stop. Those are currently the only options they offer to make this clear, so we put this description we've put at the bottom to explain it. Story
May came into rescue during COVID with her puppies almost 4 years ago. She has seen so many foster puppies come and go through our barn and continues to patiently wait for her turn for a family of her very own. She is happy here, we walk and explore daily and she is very loved. But y’all she deserves so much more than we can offer her. May is such a sweet girl. She had an absolutely awful start to life but she loves people and loves to be loved. She needs a minute to build trust in new environments and with new people, but she has come SO incredibly far. She would be best as an only dog or would be fine with a pup or non-dominant dog. Please help us help her find the happily ever after she deserves! Her adoption fee is completely sponsored and she’s fully vetted! All we need is the perfect home! She's mastered all basic obedience training thanks to classes with Swift K9 Training. She LOVES people and kids, but would do best in a home with children over 8. She does not mind cats at all and completely ignores them. She loves her crate--it's her safe space. She is great on leash and loves walks. May is about 4.5 years old and weighs 55 pounds. She would do best in a home as an only dog, and needs a quiet, calm environment willing to take things slow to help her adjust to home life. She does LOVE to help foster puppies! She has a lot of love to give to someone who can give her a chance.IMPORTANT: Please read all below, especially if you live outside of Texas, which is where our rescue is located.Apply to adopt on our website: https://www.charmingpetrescue.org/adoptAll of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on shots.ALL of our animals are located in Boerne, TX, but transport after adoption is available to other states for a $300 fee for dogs or an additional fee varying by location for cats. Story
MEET ROMEO! Are you looking for a dog to be your loyal companion and protector? If so, Romeo is your guy! He is a handsome 6-year-old male Black Mouth Cur, possibly mixed with Boxer. (His shelter paperwork says shepherd-boxer mix). Romeo is a gorgeous, handsome dog who loves to walk, hike and be with his person or people. He would be an awesome companion for someone who loves to hike! He's a great guard dog and can be protective, so would do best in a non-congested area where neighbors aren't a concern. Romeo also has a prey drive, so needs a strong owner. He has done well with other dogs, though has been leash reactive in the past. He's incredibly smart, affectionate, and will attach to his person or people. He is easy to groom, is playful, and loves a good belly rub! He will benefit from walks, hikes, and exercise, and people who understand his breed. Romeo weighs 74 lbs. Please email for an application.

Story
Mr. Banks was found in an elementary school field being chased by kids - now don't feel bad for him, he LOVED it. He is a HUGE fan of kids and was so happy to be running around with them - a home with kids would be great for him. Mr. Banks is a 2 year old Shepherd/Black Mouth Cur mix, around 50lbs. He is a very sweet boy who is house trained and crate trained. He gets along great with other dogs and loves being active with his family. He does need a secure yard or watched outside as he loves to jump and play and if he has no one with him.... well he may try to find someone to play with. He is very smart and walks lovely on leash too. Don't let this one slip away! *All of The Right to Live dogs are fostered locally in San Antonio Texas and will be transported to other states to their new families upon adoption. We believe fostering dogs and not having them decompress in a kennelled environment is more beneficial for the dogs and builds their trust and companionship in a family situation. Adoption fee includes transportation costs, previous/current medical treatment (spay/neuter, etc.) and a health certificate for cross-state travel*
