Story
https://foha.org/pet/dan/ "Green acres is the place for me. Farm living is the life I need. Land spreading out so far and wide Forget suburbia, just give me that countryside. These lyrics from my favorite, old time, T.V show describe me perfectly. I am a big dog with a winning smile, I have a singing hound dog voice and love to take treats from my friends. I can be as loving as any dog; but am a bit afraid of strangers, bicycles, joggers and people that have not taken the time to get to know me. That is why suburbia is not a great fit for me. I long for a quiet country life. When I am at home, I am a big couch potato. I am house trained, and I love having a big bed, and sitting with friends on some furniture. When properly introduced, I love my people and give big hound dog hugs. I need a home with a very strong, experienced owner and no children. Please come visit, give me a treat, and let me serenade you! Since I have reached my golden years, I am eligible for the Senior Care Plan (learn more here). If you have additional questions, please use our Contact Us form and select Senior Care Plan Questions. Story
Bruce is a fabulous example of a forgiving and loving dog that was abandoned and found himself on the streets of a small town in Tennessee.  He had nowhere to go and some kind people took him in to hold him safely while Critter Cavalry Rescue takes time to find him the best home ever.   He is a Plott hound/Pit mix from what we can see in his markings and his stature.  He is 2 years old and 65 pounds and he is one special dog that is so handsome and is truly a gentle giant!  This boy has everything going for him with great house manners and housebroken as well.  He crate trained and is living in a foster home in an apartment.  He is a medium energy young man that gets along well with the other dog in his foster home.  He loves play time outside, as well as being a snuggly couch potato. Bruce is learning to walk on leash and will need daily practice to stop pulling. He loves to ride in a car, likes carrots and ice cubes. When at home he loves to look out the window and will do that for hours.  Recently he spent some time boarding and was a favorite with the staff and he demonstrated an ability to be very sweet and easy with some of the children of the staff members.  The only NO about Bruce is that he is not fond of cats, so no feline siblings.  He would probably do best with another gentle, playful dog of his same size.  He would be fine being the only dog and always center of attention, too!  Older children over 7 years of age might be best, but only because of his size.  If you are looking for a best friend and/or family member to run, hike, play, explore, and then curl up for some couch time, Bruce is your guy!  He is so beautiful and regal.  He looks around like he is surveying his kingdom and hoping that all is well.  You could really make his life a happy ending if you could consider adopting Bruce.  Please email us at ccrtennessee@gmail.com and ask all the questions that you need and also ask for an adoption form. PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comAugust 19, 2024, 2:03 pm

Story
Good with: Dogs, kids Not tested with: Cats House trained: Yes Energy level: Moderate Noise level: Quiet Hi, I'm Raven! My soulful eyes and gentle demeanor have won over the hearts of many, and I'm ready to find my forever family. My previous family couldn't say enough good things about me. They said I was the best dog for any family, and you know what? I believe them! I absolutely adore humans there's nothing I love more than snuggling up with my favorite people and basking in their affection. Unfortunately, my previous family's work hours changed, and they had to make the tough decision to return me to the shelter. But I'm staying positive! I know that there's a family out there just waiting to welcome me into their hearts and home. I'm a sweet and affectionate dog with a lot of energy. I absolutely adore people and other dogs, and I get along with everyone I meet. One of my favorite things about myself is how mellow and adaptable I am; I'm gentle and friendly, making me a great companion for both adults and kids. I'm proud to say that I have basic training and know commands like "sit," "come," and "leave it." I'm also housetrained and crate trained. On walks, I might pull on the leash a bit, but I love meeting strangers and other dogs. I'm generally quiet and rarely barkI've only barked once in the two weeks I've been here! I get along well with all dogs and play nicely at the dog park. While I'm great with kids, my tendency to jump when excited means I'd do better with older children until I learn to keep all four paws on the ground. I'm looking for a forever home where I can stay active and be surrounded by love. Could that be with you? My foster guardian says: She is very mellow and gets along with everyone and every dog she meets. Likes: Long walks, short walks, hikes, and trips to the dog park are some of my favorite activities. Dislikes: I do have a few dislikes; thunderstorms, fireworks, loud noises, and the vacuum can make me a bit nervous. My ideal home: I would thrive in an active family, and while a yard would be great, I've been doing just fine in a small apartment with plenty of exercise and play. I love kids (as long as they are older) and would thrive in a family with children. Please contact Melissa A Aten (melissaa@luckydoganimalrescue.org) for more information about this pet.hound dog awooing for his forever family! HENRY NEEDS A FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME!!!! Name:  Henry    Best Guess for Breed:   Treeing Walker Coonhound mix   Best Guess for Age:  3 years as of June 2024        SEX:   Male   Approximate Weight: 58 lbs   Gets Along With:    Henry does well with other dogs! We haven't seen him with kids or cats but he can be tested   Currently Living at:  Shelter; needs a foster or forever home in the DC area after completing heartworm treatment! Special adoption considerations: Henry is a truly Lucky Dog! He tested positive for Heartworm disease but has already been treated! Heartworm is not contagious to people or other pets, but results from mosquito bites.  Heartworm, if left untreated, is life threatening, but after treatment, dogs that were heartworm positive should suffer no significant long-term effects so long as they are kept on a monthly heartworm preventative. We are happy to talk more in depth about heartworm disease and treatment during the adoption counseling process.   See this happy handsome boy in this video - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=spF6uMpiU98   Henry is Looking For:  Well, hi! I'm Henry! I'm just a good hound dog, with the typical hound's nose for adventure. I'd like to go to a home with someone whose able to take me on long, sniffy walks so I can inspect my neighborhood with my houndie nose. We live to sniff! I'd also like to be able to play with other pups sometimes. Most of all, though, I want to be safe and loved and know who my human is. What do you say? Am I the pup for you?   What My Foster Says About Me:  We will update this once he has arrived in the DC area and spent some time with his foster   Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT:    The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.  If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog   Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption.
