Story
Finnegan now called Phoenix is fostered in Wayland, MI Hello potential Adopters! Meet our boy Phoenix who 'rose from the ashes' of being in a shelter to living in a foster home waiting for his forever home! Not a lot is known about his past other than he was confiscated as a young pup for some abuse. Phoenix holds no grudges though!  He is the sweetest, funniest, happiest puppy! Yep, he's only 10 months old and weighs approximately 40 lbs.   Phoenix is a typical herding breed - we believe him to be a border collie - who does have the border collie traits .  Those include herding drive, moderate-to-high energy and intelligence. He would love a more active family that is looking for a companion to join in all their adventures! If you are looking for a hiking buddy, a workout buddy, or maybe a sport dog partner, then Phoenix is your boy!  He is also good with just hanging out, having a game of tug or fetch, or just snuggling and being with you. Phones rides well in the car and enjoys the car rides. Because of his strong herding drive a home with kids over 12, who can correct him with a firm 'No'. He herds his foster brother dog while running and playing, his foster mom's legs, the vacuum and most moving objects but he has learned to stop with a simple 'No' or a simple correction. This is part of his genetics is hard to be trained out of him, but can be stopped or redirected. He has done well with many other dogs, both young and old, and dogs of all sizes.  We are unsure about cats or small animals. Phoenix is very food motivated and always hungry! I mean, he is still a growing puppy. He is learning to take offered treats and other food gently and doing great with 'easy' cue.  He is very smart and learns quickly. Phoenix has a beautiful recall, great leash manners and excellent house manners.  He knows sits, and is currently learning down. He is crate trained and does well for up to several hours. Best of all he will let you know when it's potty time by letting out a whine or bark when he has to go outside. He has a cue 'go potty' so he is learning to go on command, too.  Phoenix is a handsome puppy with the funniest head cocks and ear flops when you talk to him! He does have a  funny little overbite that we find adorable.   If your New Year's resolution is to be more active, learn something new (dog sport, maybe), get outside and enjoy nature more. then Phoenix might be the one for you. We are looking forward to chatting with you soon about your future with Phoenix! Phoenix is neutered, up-to-date on all vaccinations, heartworm negative, microchipped and receiving monthly preventatives for fleas, ticks and heartworms.  Proof of heartworm prevention for any current or previous pets is required to adopt from our organization.  For more information on our adoption process or to complete an adoption application, please visit our website at www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org. NOTE:  All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers so we need an approved application on file to set up a meet with a dog you might have an interest in.  Please visit our website for more information on our adoption process, our adoption fees and a link to our adoption application.  We pride ourselves on matches that work for both the dog and your family.  MASR is here for your support, advice and safety net for our dogs for the remainder of their lives.  www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org ##2249448##

Story
Meet Lincoln....... Lincoln is an adorable young boy, thought to be a Border Collie Mix. Like Border Collies, he’s very smart, a quick learner, very alert and quite energetic!! At age 9 months, he weighs 38 lbs. It is most important to note that we cannot be 100% sure of his adult weight, but our best guess is about 40ish lbs. This handsome boy joined BAARK from an overcrowded shelter in Kentucky earlier this year. He is thought to have been born around December 23, 2022. He was a scared little puppy when entering our rescue program but has come out of his shell and has evolved into a playful, sociable, and somewhat mischievous boy. Lincoln is great with dogs outside of his foster home, but can be protective of his home and human, indoors. Most likely Lincoln would prefer being an only dog, receiving all the attention he deserves. However he could to ok with a calm easy-going female. He would probably be far too energetic for a senior (dog or human!) An ideal family for Lincoln is one able to assimilate the energy of a young boy into its lifestyle and is willing to commit the time to working with and training Lincoln to be his best self! A secure, above-ground fenced yard is important. Lincoln would not thrive as an apartment dweller. Lincoln is crate-trained and is working on good house manners (housebreaking). He is up to date on all age-appropriate vaccinations, is heartworm negative and is on heartworm preventative. He is neutered and microchipped as well. . For information about adding this adorable boy to your family please contact BAARKDogRescue@gmail.com or 847-852-0895. BAARK is located in the far NW suburbs of Chicago and adopts local to this area.

Story
Meet Sergio! This 2-year-old border collie mix has been at the shelter far too long, and we just can't understand why. Sergio is an absolute gem who loves both dogs and people, though he’s not a fan of cats. He's great with kids and would make the perfect addition to an active family who loves to spend time outdoors. Sergio has a history of being crate trained and housebroken, and walks like a pro on a leash, making him a well-behaved companion both indoors and out. He’s ready to find his forever home with a family that can keep up with his energy and shower him with love. If you’re looking for a loyal, fun, and friendly dog to join your family, Sergio is your guy!

Story
Meet MO!! This gentle soul is an owner surrender. Family lost their farm. The dogs did come into the home, All of them are housebroken and crate trained. Mo is between 4 & 6 yrs old, Owner said 4 yrs old, vet says 6 yrs old but when they came in they were in poor shape. He is about 50 lbs. Mo would definitely benefit from another dog in the house. He enjoys playing with the other dogs and he is social with them. He is a perfect gentleman in the car. He walks on the leash but sometimes he gets afraid of things around him. I think he would be fine with older or calmer children. He likes everybody. It just takes time for him to warm up to them. He is good with the cat too. He is very comfortable once he settled into our home. Mo is going to the groomer tomorrow. He is a handsome boy! He is located in Lake Bluff IL. He came in heart worm + but he is completely done with the three month treatment, doing great and ready to go. He is completely vetted and neutered. Microchipped and on preventative. His adoption fee is $500. If you would like to meet or adopt MO please go to tinypawssmalldogrescue.org and fill out an adoption application. If you have any questions please text or call 262-496-3552 or email Tntranch.wojo11@gmail.com.

Story
Chance, a stray found in Louisiana, is a big, lovable boy! A smooth-coated mix, he has one blue eye and one brown eye. Chance enjoys playing with other dogs and lives with two Italian greyhounds at his foster home. He's good in the car and loves people! Chance is a big sweetie. If you’re looking for an all around friend that will make you smile and laugh, Chance is your guy. He LOVES car rides, walks, toys, tug, and fetch. For a BC he is moderate to low energy. After a half hour play he is the sweetest cuddle buddy one could ask for. He plays well with other dogs and would do well with a K-9 companion and in a home where he can get his daily walks in. He knows basic commands and is learning more. He does well with cats and is initially a bit shy around new folks but quick to warm up. His playful nature will make anyone smile and lighten up anyone’s day. He is the perfect balance of fun and cuddles and will be his new families very best friend. Why not take a chance with Chance?! He has sit, down, shake, learned. We will work on leave it next. He’s smart. Took him to the high school tennis courts today I stead of our hike and played ball. He had a blast! Story
Laika is 36 lbs and 3-4 years old. This sweet girl loves chasing and often retrieving balls in the house and outdoors. She loves to sniff around off-leash in a fenced back yard. Turn on your garden sprinkler and she will be entertained and exercised. Laika initiates belly runs and gives kisses to her foster mom as a thank you. Laika is more dominant than Layla and has a strong herding drive, so we recommend a home with no children, cats or small critters. She's a little nervous meeting new people and dogs, which we are working on. Laika is spayed and fully vaccinated. She will need a fenced yard and an experienced handler with a strong understanding of the breed and a willingness to provide lots of exercise and tennis balls.
