Story
Meet Lincoln....... Lincoln is an adorable young boy, thought to be a Border Collie Mix. Like Border Collies, he’s very smart, a quick learner, very alert and quite energetic!! At age 9 months, he weighs 38 lbs. It is most important to note that we cannot be 100% sure of his adult weight, but our best guess is about 40ish lbs. This handsome boy joined BAARK from an overcrowded shelter in Kentucky earlier this year. He is thought to have been born around December 23, 2022. He was a scared little puppy when entering our rescue program but has come out of his shell and has evolved into a playful, sociable, and somewhat mischievous boy. Lincoln is great with dogs outside of his foster home, but can be protective of his home and human, indoors. Most likely Lincoln would prefer being an only dog, receiving all the attention he deserves. However he could to ok with a calm easy-going female. He would probably be far too energetic for a senior (dog or human!) An ideal family for Lincoln is one able to assimilate the energy of a young boy into its lifestyle and is willing to commit the time to working with and training Lincoln to be his best self! A secure, above-ground fenced yard is important. Lincoln would not thrive as an apartment dweller. Lincoln is crate-trained and is working on good house manners (housebreaking). He is up to date on all age-appropriate vaccinations, is heartworm negative and is on heartworm preventative. He is neutered and microchipped as well. . For information about adding this adorable boy to your family please contact BAARKDogRescue@gmail.com or 847-852-0895. BAARK is located in the far NW suburbs of Chicago and adopts local to this area.

MIRA IS BEING FOSTERED IN SOUTH HAVEN MI OH SWEET MIRA!  This darling little girlie is is just 8lbs and was born on 10/16/2024 ish.  At just 8 weeks old, she and he 2 brother littler mates were found on the side of the road dumped in rural Missouri. :(. These border collie babies are SUPER smart already and are already tracking things visually with their eyes to herd. Full grown Border Collies are usually 30-55lbs.  Mira is being fostered with a 2 legged toddler, cats and other dogs.  She does great with everyone!  She is still such a baby that she is being exposted to the Rule of 12s in her foster home and that socialization tactic will need to continue in her forever home.  Mira is doing GREAT with potty training and crate training!  She will need to stay on a schedule to be successful in her forever home.   This little smartie pants will want a job when she grows up!  If you have never had a border collie or a working dog before, we recommend doing a little research before committing to this high energy working breed!  She will need a MINIMUM of 2-3 hours of exercise throughout the day.  She will also need someone home more than not at the beginning so she can potty train and she is still too young to be left alone for too long. Mira is up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, is microchipped, dewormed and on monthly prevention for fleas, ticks and heartworm.  Proof of heartworm prevention for any current or previous pets is required to adopt from our organization.  For more information on our adoption process, please visit our website at www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org. NOTE:  All of our dogs live in foster homes with volunteers so we need an approved application on file to set up a meet with a dog you might have an interest in.  Please visit our website for more information on our adoption process, our adoption fees and a link to our adoption application.  We pride ourselves on matches that work for both the dog and your family.  MASR is here for your support, advice and safety net for our dogs for the remainder of their lives.  www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org ##2250508##

Story
Finnegan now called Phoenix is fostered in Wayland, MI Hello potential Adopters! Meet our boy Phoenix who 'rose from the ashes' of being in a shelter to living in a foster home waiting for his forever home! Not a lot is known about his past other than he was confiscated as a young pup for some abuse. Phoenix holds no grudges though!  He is the sweetest, funniest, happiest puppy! Yep, he's only 10 months old and weighs approximately 40 lbs.   Phoenix is a typical herding breed - we believe him to be a border collie - who does have the border collie traits .  Those include herding drive, moderate-to-high energy and intelligence. He would love a more active family that is looking for a companion to join in all their adventures! If you are looking for a hiking buddy, a workout buddy, or maybe a sport dog partner, then Phoenix is your boy!  He is also good with just hanging out, having a game of tug or fetch, or just snuggling and being with you. Phones rides well in the car and enjoys the car rides. Because of his strong herding drive a home with kids over 12, who can correct him with a firm 'No'. He herds his foster brother dog while running and playing, his foster mom's legs, the vacuum and most moving objects but he has learned to stop with a simple 'No' or a simple correction. This is part of his genetics is hard to be trained out of him, but can be stopped or redirected. He has done well with many other dogs, both young and old, and dogs of all sizes.  We are unsure about cats or small animals. Phoenix is very food motivated and always hungry! I mean, he is still a growing puppy. He is learning to take offered treats and other food gently and doing great with 'easy' cue.  He is very smart and learns quickly. Phoenix has a beautiful recall, great leash manners and excellent house manners.  He knows sits, and is currently learning down. He is crate trained and does well for up to several hours. Best of all he will let you know when it's potty time by letting out a whine or bark when he has to go outside. He has a cue 'go potty' so he is learning to go on command, too.  Phoenix is a handsome puppy with the funniest head cocks and ear flops when you talk to him! He does have a  funny little overbite that we find adorable.   If your New Year's resolution is to be more active, learn something new (dog sport, maybe), get outside and enjoy nature more. then Phoenix might be the one for you. We are looking forward to chatting with you soon about your future with Phoenix! Phoenix is neutered, up-to-date on all vaccinations, heartworm negative, microchipped and receiving monthly preventatives for fleas, ticks and heartworms.  Proof of heartworm prevention for any current or previous pets is required to adopt from our organization.  For more information on our adoption process or to complete an adoption application, please visit our website at www.MidwestAustralianShepherdRescue.org. Story
Meet Sergio! He is a 2-year-old Border Collie/ Husky mix. Sergio is a high-energy, enthusiastic dog who thrives on activity and mental stimulation. He's always ready to play! Fetch is probably one of his favorites that keeps him going. Although he may be very active, he also bonds quickly with people and loves affection as well. He would do well with an active family, an individual who loves to run or hike, or someone who can engage him in fun training activities. He may also enjoy having a dog companion to help burn off his energy as well.
