Story
Simon is a handsome, playful, young lad. He has a beautiful soft coat of black with a bit of white mixed in.   He's eager to have a new life of comfort and affection. He'd love it if that new life included lap time. He's pretty confident in new situations and around new dogs. Simon is very easy with people of all types and doesn’t need much encouragement to get moving. He would make a great family dog.  He does need to learn some puppy manners but his eagerness to please means he picks up lessons quickly.  Simon comes to us from a shelter in rural southwestern Virginia. Simon and his sister, Shae, as well as their father, were seized from their owner for neglect (starvation). Gender:  Neutered Male DOB: Approx. 12/1/2023 Current size; 35 pounds PLEASE NOTE:  we only adopt to residents of the DC metro area, which includes DC, Prince Georges and Montgomery Counties in MD, and Arlington, Fairfax, Prince William, and Loudoun Counties in VA. Name: Dingo      Best Guess for Breed: Border collie and terrier mix   Best Guess for Age: 1 year as of July 2024      Gender:Male Approximate Weight:48 lbs Gets Along With: Other dogs! We haven't seen him with kids or cats but he can be tested Currently Living At: South Carolina shelter; needs a foster or forever home in the DC area! Special Adoption Considerations: Dingo is heartworm positive, but this Lucky Dog got extra lucky! This pup is part of a groundbreaking study we are conducting at our South Carolina Rescue Campus that has the potential to change the way shelters across the United States treat heartworm positive dogs.  All dogs in the study are placed at random in either the 2 shot or 3 shot protocol with strictly monitored protocols in place. Four weeks following their final injection, the pups are eligible to transport to the DC area for placement in foster or adoptive care.  After treatment concludes, we work with adopters to arrange a free follow up heartworm test after 6 months, followed by a second test at 9 months.  We are happy to discuss this treatment and which phase of the study this Lucky Dog is in right now! Just email the adoption coordinator - the address is at lower left! Dingo is Looking For:His forever home! Through no fault of his own, this handsome boy ended up in the shelter. He is full of fun, young dog energy and is ready to have his own humans to trot alongside on sniffy walks, romps in local parks, and all the adventures they can dream up! He likes making new doggie friends and roughhousing with them too. Exploring all the toys also sounds great, as well as some delicious kibble and a cushy dog bed.   Most of all, though, he wants to know he's safe and loved and under his own roof every time the sun goes down. He especially loves pets and belly rubs and will happily sprawl in the laps of shelter staff, asking for love. In exchange, he promises adoring gazes, cuddles, and loyalty for all his days.   What do you say? Is Dingo the companion you've been looking for? What My Foster Says About Me: We will update this once he has arrived in the DC area and spent some time with his foster. Lucky Dog cannot guarantee any dog is housebroken.  All of our dogs are working on their crate training.  TO ADOPT: The adoption fee for this dog is $475, which includes the cost of routine vetting, including vaccinations, spay/neuter, and heartworm treatment.  If you are interested in adopting, please complete the Adoption Questionnaire online at bit.ly/adoptaluckydog Lucky Dog Animal Rescue does our best to provide accurate information about the dogs we have for adoption. Story
male, 1 yr old, ~50 lbs Personality: quiet, good running partner, gentle, eager-to-please, outgoing, affectionate, energetic, patient, goofy/funny, adventurous, playful, and adaptable. Hi folks, I'm Colt and despite my name and perky ears, I am actually a dog, and quite a loveable one at that! I am sweet and friendly with humans and other canines. I love to go on walks, and just looking at someone approaching is enough to make my tail wag. I am a fun-loving and playful boy who thinks chewing my toys, playing fetch, and romping with the smaller dog at my foster home are all great pastimes. (I even know that I need to be extra gentle when I play with a dog who is about half my size.) Then when playtime is done, it's always lovely to curl up for a snooze. Want to know more about me? Well, I've been told I'm the most adorable shadow: I'm sure to be by your side wherever you go. I like to learn -- I've made tons of progress on house training, I'm good in the crate, and to top it off, I know the words "sit" and "no". So, let's plan a date. Bring your tennis ball and your A-game and see if there is a match. Maybe if you "pony up with some treats, we can work on some tricks. Apply today so I can meet you and melt your heart. If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. If the animal has "HAS APPLICATION" listed, they are still available to receive additional applications but also may be in the process of being adopted soon. Apply for a DOG: http://www.citydogsrescuedc.org/adoptable-dogs.html Interested in saving more lives? Foster a dog today! Learn more, see our list of dogs needing foster, and apply, https://www.citydogsrescuedc.org/foster-a-city-dog.html City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is a foster-based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. CDCK has a thorough adoption process to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats (we do not operate under a first-come, first-served model). Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter for dogs six months and older. We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam before adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDCK. City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us. Dog specific: Rabies, DHPP, Lepto and Bordetella vaccines. They are tested for HW, Lyme, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis. Most cats and dogs will have a house-training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any pet is housebroken or crate trained.

Story
Friendly Finn is a lucky dog.  You know one of those who was in a really bad shelter that was run by lazy people who didn’t care if any of the dogs got out alive.  He is a handsome and very friendly Border Collie/Pointer mix that is truly a good looking dog who is about 3 years old, fully vetted, 35 pounds and was at the shelter for 2 years.  TRUTH!   How awful that this beautiful soul was there in that dirty place and in the tiny kennel run with another dog. He wasn’t fed much and he is lucky to have survived the torture of that specific shelter.   Friendly is a good word for Finn since he is good with other dogs and kids unknown.  He is surprisingly very good on a leash, but his nerves can get the best of him when riding in a car.  He might need a little medication till he gets used to riding.  Finn needs a big yard or maybe daily trips to a dog park.  We want him to live a life that is not limited as he has experienced these past 2+ years in the shelter.  If you are interested in Fostering or Adopting Finn please email Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrnewengland@gmail.com PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.August 19, 2024, 8:06 am
