Story
Duke was a rescue that I had gotten roughly 2 years ago. I was informed that Duke was between 8 and 9 at the time and had spent the last year in the shelter. Though the goal was to give Duke a forever home my complex has started to crack down on owners with bully breeds. Duke has no health issues. He does show aggression to other large dogs, though I believe with a good owner he can be slowly introduced to other dogs as we also have 2 smaller yorkies that he does fine with. The only issues I have seen is that he does prefer to be around them when they are hyper. Duke is a cuddler and just looking for the right person.

Story
Meet our newest rescued cutie. She is a sweet bully mix who was rescued from Dallas Animal Services. We are still learning more about her, but thus far she has shown a huge desire to connect with her people. Her foster mom is currently working on leash manners and basic commands. Fern would do best in a home that can give her consistent exercise and would love to be someone's walking or running mate. She will make a fun, sweet and worthwhile companion.

Story
Keanu was born on October 30th, 2020. He was and still is a very curious pup! He loves to snuggle, play tug of war, fetch, go on walks, and try to catch the stream from the water hose and bathtub. He is very protective of his family and will look to you for approval as to if a stranger walking by is nothing to worry about. While his current family loves him dearly, they have a one year old and another one on the way. While Keanu is good with dogs (small, medium, large, male/female) and people, he sometimes does not know his own strength or how to contain his energy. He would be better around older kids (10 or older) rather than young children. He means well, it is just he is a bit much around little ones. He also has a lot of energy and needs to go on walks and run around a large play area for extended periods. With kids in the mix, it has become harder to give him the attention he deserves. He is kennel trained and house broken. He does require a slow feeder because he eats way too fast. Considering he is a Bull Terrier, he does have the classic skin issues. He is allergic to grass, so he will require a good wipe down if he is ever rolling around in it too much. We have him on apoquel 16mg to control his allergies. A quantity of 30 runs about $83 from Chewy and would cost a lot more from a veterinary clinic. The 30 pills are broken in half, so it will last two months before you need to refill. He also has some digestive issues, so he is not able to eat Ol' Roy, Pedigree, or Puppy Chow without having digestive upsets (runny stool, vomiting). He does well on the Purina One Large Breed brand. He eats about 2 and a half cups a day so a 40lb bag (about $65) can last nearly two months. I'm sure he could readjust to another brand, but it would have to be something like blue buffalo or Iams. He can be a very high maintenance dog, but he is worth it. The love and energy he exudes is wonderful. His family is sad to have to rehome him, but he deserves to have the best possible home. He would do well with the following: someone single with a very active lifestyle; a couple with no children; a couple with older children. He would likely not do well in an apartment, unless of course he is able to go to a nearby dog park/walk daily. He would do best with a yard where he can run freely. Keep an eye on him, though! He tends to overexert himself. He can be loose as long as someone is home. He is kenneled when we are not home as he gets a little curious when no one is around and can also get separation anxiety. His kennel is his safe zone. We hope you will consider bringing Keanu into your home! Keanu is participating in The Love Pit's iRehome program, so ongoing care and custody are provided by their foster. All behavior and medical information is provided by their caretaker, and TLP encourages all adopters to verify the information with their caretaker prior to adoption.

Story
Meet Chino! At two years old he's already a gentleman, getting along with kids and other large dogs. Chino even hangs out at doggy daycare and does so well with all his friends. Once he's made friends? It's off to the races! He can play for hours with his canine buddies. With his current human care-giver he doesn't play quite so much, but is still very interested in being a companion (enjoying lounging and napping) and has even been a nurse-maid! Who doesn't want someone to take care of them when they're sick? He's social when on outings to the local patio-bar or ice cream spot, getting lots of attention from admirers. He's a great size to take camping, but will need some more coaching to be a running buddy as he only goes for short runs at the moment. Chino would love to show you how fast he is! All Dallas Pets Alive adoptable pets are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines upon adoption. The standard minimum donation for dogs over six months to seven years is $200, puppies under six months is $250, dogs eight years and over are $100 unless specified otherwise.
