Story
Rsisin is a beautiful cat (about a year old) that I saved from my neighborhood. She has a great personality, doesn’t scratch furniture, has no health issues, is spayed and microchipped. She has been living with me for 2 months where I’ve been trying to introduce her to my resident cat. Needless to say it is not working out and she needs a home where she is the only cat. She gets along with dogs and people really great, just not other cats. I would love to keep her myself, but it’s not fair to either cat. Once you meet her, you will fall in love with her immediately, everyone does!

ALL animals are in foster homes as we do NOT have a  shelter where you can visit. Some animals are in foster care in New England, and some are located in other states. If the initials following the animals name are a state, then that is the state where the animal is located. If initials are not a state, then those are the initials of the foster home outside of New England and you will not be able to meet the animal ahead of time. Complete our online application You will be contacted by phone or email by the foster parent  or a member of our adoption team and will have the opportunity to find out more about the animal, and ask any questions that you have to ensure the animal is a good fit for your household. If the animal is local, you can meet the animal, but you would not be able to take the dog home until you are approved to adopt. If you feel comfortable that the animal is a good fit for your home, at this point, you would submit a sum of $200 as a partial payment of the adoption fee as we process your application. From our end, we will check references and schedule a home visit. If you are not approved to adopt, any payment sent to us would be promptly returned in full. At this point, we will remove the animal from our adoption sites and hold the animal for you while we check your references. If you live in an apartment, or a condo, we will need to verify permission to own the animal from your landlord or condo board. Please let your vet’s office and references know we will be contacting them. If your  references are positive, we will schedule a home visit by a volunteer. Please try to accommodate the home visit volunteer as most  have busy schedules. Delays in the visit will result in a delay in the adoption. Once you are approved, you will receive an e-mail with your  adoption contract attached. This e-mail will have details about pick up, the balance of the adoption fee that is owed, etc. Please email your signed & witnessed contract and pay your adoption fee in full, and for any animals located out of state, you will be contacted for details about transport to New England. Once you have paid your adoption fee in full and sent back your contract, you can make arrangement to pick up your animal from the foster home or from transport depending on where the animal is located. Please bring a harness, collar, ID tag and leash when you are picking up the dog unless otherwise instructed by the foster parent. Our extensive approval process is intended to ensure the best fit between our animals and adopters. Friends of Homeless Animals (FOHA) reserves the right to deny any adoption application with or without disclosure of cause. Your adoption fee helps to cover the cost of all age appropriate vetting and transportation. FOHARI.ORG makes no explicit or implicit guarantees in reference to the health, temperament and/or the breed of the animal. The animal is adopted ‘as is’, and the adopter assumes all responsibility for treatment of any and all existing conditions or any other conditions of physical or temperament changes that may occur. Sweet Iris came from a farm where there were just way too many unaltered cats and the situation had gotten out of control. We have been taking them in one by one. Iris was the first to come in and now she is ready for her forever home. She is very sweet and lovable and great with kids! She's still a baby, just 6 months young. She is spayed, FIV/FeLV negative, vaccinated, litter box trained and ready for her forever home. Could that be you? OUR CATS AND KITTENS MUST NEVER BE DECLAWED OR ALLOWED OUTDOORS! PLEASE NOTE THAT WE ARE LOCATED IN TENNESSEE AND YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO MEET OUR PETS PRIOR TO ADOPTION! ADOPTION FEE $250

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Sylvester is a charming 3 year old male cat ready for his new home. This handsome fellow has a lot of personality and is sure to bring joy to the right household. Sylvester does like the company of other cat friendly cats, with proper introduction of course. One of Sylvester's favorite activities is playing with wand toys that mimic the movement of prey. He loves the thrill of the chase and to catch it and carry it in his mouth back to his bed. He also loves to have conversations with his people. He always has something to say! Sylvester can sometimes be overwhelmed by loud noises. However, he has gained a lot of confidence through a predictable schedule, including a couple of daily play sessions and brain games. This routine helps him feel secure and content. If you are ready to welcome a playful, talkative and loving cat where you can maintain his routine helping him feel safe and confident, Sylvester may be the cat for you! Because Sylvester can be overwhelmed by loud noises, he would be better suited with children 10+ With any questions about Sylvester, please contact olivia.warburton@rispca.org

Story
Kaki has been with me since he was a kitten, about 14 weeks old. Most of his life has been spent in a quiet house without children, which is why we're here. He has spent his whole life with my service dog (border collie mix) and half his life with another cat. Aloof is a good way to describe him, with serious trust issues around young kids. Kaki normally does his thing and lets you do yours, but he becomes a different cat with children around. He loses his playfulness and affection, instead becoming territorial and aggressive. His ideal situation would be a quiet home with no kids, maybe a dog or another cat he can interact with, and a caretaker that respects him and his needs as much as their own. Treat him like a roommate more than a pet honestly. He needs to know he can trust his environment and people in it without surprises. Kaki just needs quiet and calm, and he will show you love and joy. Sudden loud sounds aren't ideal for him either. Contact for more detail/info.
