Story
Meet Pekoe! How could you not fall in love with this big puff ball!?Pekoe is one hot cuppa tea! She's a big personality and we can't wait to see who fall in love with this diva. She came to us when her previous guardian had to go overseas, and she's now thriving in a foster home. Would you like to meet Pekoe or learn more about her, call us at 604-922-4622 to learn more! Pekoe is her own lady, and she's not afraid to show her personality! This girl will tell you when she loves things, but she will also tell you about what she doesn't like. Pekoe likes touch and cuddles on her own terms, and for this reason she's looking for an adult only forever home. In her foster home, Pekoe is opening up more and more daily. Her foster-mom can brush her and pick her up briefly, but Pekoe isn't going to be the kind of cat who wants to be pet and held all day. She has even started climbing under the covers at night with her foster mom! You can often spot her fluffy toes sticking out from her cozy bed, and she'll spring out to say hi when you enter the room! She loves baby talk and will melt with compliments about how beautiful and perfect she is. Although she's not a big fan of being picked up, Pekoe will happily follow you around, trailing behind like a sweet little companion and purring when she's in the mood for pets. With her gorgeous coat, Pekoe has also gotten a lot more tolerant of brushing. She's on a low-fat diet to keep her healthy and happy.Pekoe is looking for a loving home where she can continue to shine as the sweet, quirky cat she is. Could it be with you?If yes, apply online today!!

Meet Haru & Maru! These poor babies have been in and out of the shelter a few times now at no fault of their own, and are looking for their FOREVER home! Haru came into our care shy, scared, and unsure of people. Sally was adopted in 2021 to a home with another kitty, Maru, who has helped her build her confidence. We will not be splitting this pair up as they rely on each other heavily. Maru is much more outgoing than his best buddy, and will strut into a new situation confidently. He loves to lounge on your lap, rip around the house playing with toys (or Haru) and scratch at his favourite cat post - they really even each other out! Haru on the other hand, can still be easily frightened in new environments and with new people, and would do best in a quiet, adult-only home that has time to show her the world isn't so scary. Haru is an affectionate cat once she feels comfortable with you, and is so cute it's almost hard to handle!! Hidey spaces and forts make Haru feel safe while she is getting settled in a new environment. Want to meet this adorable dynamic duo? Drop in to the West Van SPCA between 12pm-3pm daily (except Mondays) or apply online! Primary Color: Brown Tabby Secondary Color: White Weight: 7.41 Age: 4yrs 8mths 1wks

Story
Johnny is looking for a patient, understanding and experienced cat owner who can provide him with the care and support he needs to settle in to a new home and here are a few suggestions to help Johnny transition and let his true personality shine1. Quiet and safe space: set up a designated area in your home where Johnny can feel secure and have some privacy.2. Slow introduction: allow Johnny to acclimate at his own pace. Give him time to explore his new surroundings gradually. Avoid overwhelming him with too many new experiences or interactions all at once.3. Patient and understanding: Johnny may initially be hesitant or fearful. Be patient and allow him to approach you on his owns terms. Avoid forcing interactions and give him space when needed.4. Establish a routine: Cats thrive on routine, and having a consistent schedule can help him feel more secure and settled.5. Interactive playtime. Use toys that stimulate his natural instincts. This will help build his confidence and create positive associations with you and his new environment. 6. Positive reinforcement: Use treats, praise and gentle strokes to reward Johnny for positive behaviour and interactions. This will help him to associate positive experiences with you and build trust over time.Johnny was used to living with a single adult, no children or any other pets for this boy. He spent 9 months of his life being bullied by other cats in his previous home. No outdoor access, he's lived indoors only. Johnny has been making very positive progress and has been coming around great as staff and volunteers continue working with him. He is slowly showing his true colours of being loving and gentle. We know the right home that will continue to make progress with him is out there for him, could that be you? 1. Story
Meet Jersey! Jersey is a sweet and shy girl searching for a calm and loving home where she can truly thrive. The hustle and bustle of shelter life was overwhelming for her, but in the right environment, her playful and affectionate nature quickly shines through. When Jersey first arrived in her foster home, she spent a couple of days hiding as she adjusted. However, it didn't take long for her to come out of her shell, revealing a playful, talkative, and loving personality. Her daily routine includes morning play sessions where she's full of energy, followed by cozy naps in her favorite safe spot. By evening, she's ready for more games and will happily curl up on laps. She wants a lot of attention, either playtime or lap time. She likes people to play with her, rather than playing with toys on her own.  She sleeps at her foster's feet overnight. She is timid to try new things, but once she is comfortable, she does what all normal cats do.Jersey is seeking a peaceful, adult-only household with patient and understanding humans who can give her the time and space to feel safe. Once she trusts you, Jersey will reward you with her joyful spirit and endless love.If you're ready to provide Jersey with the patience and care she needs, she'll be the perfect addition to your family. Could Jersey be your new best friend?Jersey is in foster so please contact our office if you are interested in meeting her. Our public hours are on weekdays between 1pm-5pm (excluding Thursdays as we are closed to the public) and weekends 1pm-4pm at 3202 Norland Ave. or; 2.) Submit an online application at adopt.spca.bc.ca and staff will contact the first suitable adopter to set-up a visit! Primary Color: Black Secondary Color: White Weight: 4.54 Age: 2yrs 7mths 0wks
