Story
Lion Blaze’s adoption fee has been sponsored by Stevie Peterson, she is practically a family member of the rescue. We made the decision to lower our adoption fees for a “Home for the Holidays” special. We wanted to see as many of our animals in their new furrever home with their family, and out of foster care. A few of our supporters came forward and sponsored as many kitties as they could! Stevie is so happy to see any animal she meets, and works every day with many animals who have social issues. She has a special ability to make them as comfortable as they could be and they all adore her. Even in her home life, Stevie cares for animals many people wouldn’t be able to, and does it effortlessly. Meet LionBlaze! Aka Blazer Boy! Blazer came to the rescue after trying to be trapped from our backyard over a span of 2.5 months. Finally we got him, had him fully vetted, and let him show us his personality! He is now roughly 10-11 months old and ready to go to his new forever home! Although LionBlaze is a very sweet boy, he does not appreciate much petting or handling. Everything is very much on his own terms and he really only occasionally lets you scratch his head. He very much enjoys the company of his other cats, he is their protector. He is also one heck of a hunter! For this reason we are seeking a very nice barn home for him! He could live in someone’s house, but not around any kids and with very slow introductions to dogs. Cats of course are also okay with slow introductions. He could be an indoor outdoor cat but if someone chooses to do this with him, they need to understand his boundaries on being handled. LionBlaze loves to play, hunt, and is extremely food motivated. He will be all over you for wet food and treat time. When you bring out a feather toy or even if he gets ahold of a leaf he’s sure to hunt it as much as he can. When you’re walking around he loves to pace the area with you and see what you’re up to next. He’s very intrigued by watching the birds and squirrels out of the window. He would be one heck of a mouser! If you’re interested in LionBlaze please submit an inquiry here, or submit an application at www.cassidyscritters.com and someone will be in touch shortly!

Story
Meet Ziggi! Ziggi came to the rescue after being rescued from the outside with 14 other cats. An elderly woman with dementia was going into assisted living and all of the cats she cared for needed to be placed into a rescue or homes. When Ziggi came to us he was a little over a month old and incredibly shy. He was very attached to his mom, to the point he refused to socialized. After she was adopted and they were separated, Ziggi really started warming up to his foster parents. On a day to day basis, you’ll find Ziggi zooming all over your house. He’s an extremely confident young man when it comes to his own activity, and being around other animals. When Ziggi first meets new people, he is very scared. He doesn’t do well around strangers and as a result is a poor candidate for a very social meet and greet. If you are interested in adopting Ziggi we recommend you setting up a FaceTime call with his foster mom to see his true self and how happy, energetic, and fun loving he is. After this call of course you can meet Ziggi but the expectation is he won’t initially want to interact. He’d likely need to be placed into his new environment and develop a bond with you (which doesn’t take long if you have treats and love to offer). Anywhere you find Ziggi, you’ll find toys. Especially that of the crinkly and spring like nature. Ziggi LOVES to fetch! He’ll chase his toys all around, then bring them to you and expect you to toss them for him. This young man also is clinically obsessed with food. The second you put his meal down he’s there for it. Got treats? If you need Ziggi to come to you, shake a treat bag and he will be there pacing and scanning for his upcoming snack! When it comes to his people, Ziggi loves love. He particularly likes his foster dad who he follows all around the house, the bathroom is not even safe. If you’re around, Ziggi is sure to follow. In his foster home, Ziggi has been socialized with other cats, dogs, rabbits, and small critters. He lives to play with other cats, he is sure to rub his head on a passing dog, and he tries to bring his bunny friends his toys to play with. With Ziggi being a socially anxious character, we don’t recommend he be placed in a home with children roughly 8 and under. If you have kids, he will do fine with them as long as they understand how to respect his space and body. It took his foster family a while for them to be able to hold Ziggi and him stay happy and comfortable in the process. Something like a kid grabbing, lifting, or pulling would certainly be a fright for him and if it was a repeated behavior he would not be able to expand socially in his home. The last precious thing we have to mention about Ziggi is his itty bitty little meow. He mews around the house all the time while playing and following his people. If you’re interested in adopting this spectacular young man, send us an application at www.cassidyscritters.com or submit an inquiry here with your email/phone number and we’ll be in touch!

Story
Meet Marisol and Maximus! These two sweet babies came to us when a person who does TNR had them at the clinic and afterwards they were going to be dropped off at a barn. We saw their faces and knew they were destined for so much more! When they first came to us, Mary and Max were extremely shy but still welcomed love and pets. Over time, this bonded pair have become complete love bugs. Sometimes at a loud noise, new stimulus, or new people they still cower away for a few minutes- but they’re sure to come back around and get as close as they can to you. We wouldn’t describe these two as lap cats, but definitely velcro cats! When you enter their space they come up to you curiously seeking pets and affection. Mary is fairly confident in herself and doesn’t get spooked as often and Max. She’ll walk up, present herself, and demand you give her scritches. She has such a calm, cool, and collected demeanor about her. Max can be slightly more apprehensive than Mary, but he will under all circumstances chase you around with his tail shaking in anticipation of getting love. Although he seems timid initially, he in particular loves hard and firm pets and scratches. He’ll lean into your hands and hope you don’t pull away… ever lol. These two absolutely adore each other and where you’ll find one, you’ll find the other. They like to nap, play, eat, and snuggle together all day every day! They’re still fairly young, but they don’t obtain the high energy most kittens do. They’re quite laid back and prefer to sit on a cat tower with one another or look out the window and gaze at things passing by. Both of these kitties absolutely love other cats! They spend all their time with their foster friends and can’t get enough of them. Due to their more apprehensive nature, we don’t recommend they be placed in a home with children under 8 years of age unless your child truly understand cats spaces, and respecting their bodies and boundaries. They don’t mind being picked up in short increments and it really helps them learn to trust their people when the person doesn’t just abruptly intrude on their space by grabbing, lifting, etc. We recommend a calmer household for these two where they can really blossom into the full version of themselves with a patient and loving owner. If you’re interested in this stunning pair, submit an application at www.cassidyscritters.com or submit an inquiry here with your email/phone number attached so we can reach out!

Story
Meet Mewmew and Little man! These two stunning cats came into the rescue at roughly a month old with a very, very bad upper respiratory infection. We got a call that a woman had watched a man dump a litter of kittens in the wood. She stayed around until we showed up. We were able to pull them all out, some were even hiding in trees 😔 Now though, these guys are healthy and have blossomed into two lovely, bonded kitties! Mewmew and Little man are now roughly 7 months old. All their siblings and so many other cats and kittens in the rescue have been adopted, but not them… they’ve been passed up quite a few times and we can only assume it’s because of how challenging it can be to adopt out black cats. These two babies are outgrowing their foster home, and want to land into their furrever home where they can grow and learn their new family😭 To tell you a little about these two purrfect siblings we’d start with how playful they are! They love to chase each other and their humans all about the house. They bring endless joy, some kitten energy, and nothing but love to the plate! Little Man (male): Explorer, with a charming white chest spot and a relaxed vibe. MewMew (female): Playful and affectionate, with a cute “Mew-Mew” meow and a spunky side. She flops at your feet to show her love. Together, they love to chase, climb, and cuddle. Springs, crinkle balls, and cat trees are their personal favorites! You can often times find them all snuggled up together looking out a window or taking a cat nap. Both adore each other, their foster parents, and even get along with other pets! They appreciate other cats, and do well with the dog that resides in their foster home. Despite loving their people, they do really great at keeping themselves and each other occupied. They’ll always find an old or new activity to get into, even if it simply involves chasing their favorite spring toy around. They do well in an environment where their humans go to work and are gone for longer increments of time. Both of these fine felines look forward to their meal times every day, and never pass up wet food (or treats😉). When new people first come over, they may be a little shy but eventually will make their presence known. They’re well socialized and love finding a nice lap to curl up in, or a person to lay beside and watch a few episodes of TV. To find more pictures and videos of MewMew and Little Man on their foster mom's foster cat instagram: @felinegoldmine If you're interested in adopting these kitties, submit an inquiry here, or submit an application at www.cassidyscritters.com and someone will be in touch shortly!

Story
2 yr old female - special needs - must be an only catMeet Puma! This adorable girl is a little timid when you first meet her, but once she warms up she is super sweet, and very playful.  Se is 2 years old.   She is special need and needs to be an only cat or in a household with other Feline Coronoa virus positive cats. She tested positive for Feline Coronavirus (the testing that was done to identify this virus is specific to feline enteric coronavirus and does not detect SARS-CoV-2, the causative agent for COVID-19. Feline enteric coronavirus is species-specific and does not infect humans) Although she tested positive at her re-check appointment, the virus should not affect her longevity or quality of life (she is no longer experiencing any clinical signs), however it is recommended that she go to a home with no other cats, with no intention of getting more cats in the home.   Coronavirus is mostly common as a kitten virus,  and according to the vet most kittens by 9 months - 1 year test negative. However, for some reason Puma has not out grown it.  We just had her test in July 2022 and she is still positive.  We have not seen her around dogs or kids so unsure how she would do with those.  This animal is current on all age appropriate vaccines, dewormed, and spayed/neutered. They have been FIV/LeLV tested (negative), microchipped, and on flea prevention.  The adoption fee is $50.00 If you are interested in adopting this pet please fill out an application at ajssearchandrescue.orgNovember 6, 2024, 5:34 pm
