Story
Grayden was a stray on a farm and is nervous of people, although he is allowing the staff to pet him now. He likes to hide in a safe place. He is a shy cat that needs time to get comfortable with people. Because of his outdoor life and probable fights with other male cats, he has tested positive for the FIV virus. Feline Immuno-deficiency Virus (FIV) is a disease that only affects cats and cannot be transmitted to humans or other animals. Grayden has been with us since January 2021.If you would like to make an appointment to meet him, please contact the shelter for an appointment at 519-833-2287 or email info@uppercredit.com

Story
This is Clarke! He is timid in new situations and would be best as the only animal in the house to start with. No other cats. He will come out of his shell with lots of one on one contact, brushes and affection. Clarke has been tested positive for F.I.V but still has a lot of potential to grow. The shelter is just a little too much for him so he stays in hiding, and he is very good at finding places to hide. He is actually the top hide and seek champion, but the staff always take time out of their day to find him and let him know things will be okay. Clarke has been with us since September 17, 2021. Please contact the shelter at 519-833-2287 or email info@uppercredit.com if you would like to know more about Clarke. The staff would be more than happy to talk with you about him.

Story
Jeffrey was an outside stray cat who was brought to UCHS in November 2021. He is very timid and will hide when scared. Jeffrey had to have a tail amputation and has left him with little to no tail due to an injury, but that has since all healed up. Jeffrey has tested positive for FIV and will need to be in a home that can accommodate that. FIV is a virus the weakens the immune system and is found very commonly in outdoor cats. FIV can only be transmitted to other cats in a fight but not to other animals or humans. To thrive, they need quality food and to be indoor cats. To find out more about Jeffrey, please contact the shelter for an appointment at 519-833-2287 or email info@uppercredit.com

Story
Mark was found in a barn where he didn't get along with the other cats. He has been at UCHS since November 2022. Mark did test positive for FIV but as with other FIV cats, he could live a long and healthy life. Good food, regular veterinary check ups and an indoor life will keep him healthy. Mark is a "shadow cat" as he needs to become accustomed to being indoors and not be afraid anymore. This could take some time but if someone had the time and patience to give him a chance, we hope he would come out of his shell eventually. If you are interested in meeting Mark, please contact the shelter for an appointment at 519-833-2287 or email info@uppercredit.com

Story
Lucy came from a colony where many cats were living an indoor/outdoor life at a roofing company. She was trapped, spayed and medically treated before being released back to the colony. Unfortunately, the company where they were living closed and there was no longer anyone to feed them and no way for them to get out of the elements. Lucy was brought to us March 21, 2023 in hopes that someone would give her the opportunity to find a home. She is a very shy cat who will need space and time and of course, patience. Lucy may never be the cuddly cat and may even be just one of those "from a distance" shadow cats but it would be a shame not to give her a chance. Many times these less friendly cats do come around to understand and appreciate a loving home.If you are interested in meeting Lucy, please contact the shelter for an appointment at 519-833-2287 or email info@uppercredit.com

Story
Skidaddle is a handsome black & white tuxedo cat. He was a friendly stray that was taken in and lived with a woman. However he was surrendered to the shelter April 3, 2023 after his owner sadly passed away. With the loss of his owner and coming into the shelter, Skidaddle is still a quiet and timid cat. However, he does show curiosity and interest around people, and is becoming more approachable. He would love to find a new home where he can settle into. If you would like to meet Skidaddle, please contact the shelter for an appointment at 519-833-2287 or email info@uppercredit.com
