Story
Cats-the most effective, affordable and environmentally friendly pest control method! The barn cat, also known as a feral cat, is a domestic cat, usually of mixed breed, that lives primarily out-of-doors, in a feral or semi-feral condition on agricultural properties, usually sheltering in outbuildings.Individuals interested in adopting barn cats must be able to provide the cats with shelter, food, water, and vet care. Barns, outbuildings, factories, and warehouses are all considered suitable shelters for the cats. All barn cats are spayed/neutered, vaccinated against rabies, and ear-tipped.If you are interested in adopting a barn cat please fill out the adoption questionnaire and a member of the adoption center team will contact you!*cats pictured are not available*

*The pets pictured in this posting are just ad pictures not available pets.*The Yakima Humane Society provides care for thousands of animals each year, some of which require time in foster care before they are ready to be adopted. Fostering a homeless pet is both a rewarding and enriching experience; it is also great for families or individuals who love animals but cannot commit to having a full-time companion animal. The care that dedicated Foster Care Families provide is invaluable, both to the animals fostered and the people that adopt them. You can foster as much or as little as you like, and we need foster homes for a wide variety of animals - kittens, puppies, cats, dogs, and an occasional small & furry animal! You can learn more about our foster program and fill out an application athttp://www.yakimahumane.org/get-involved/foster/.*The pets pictured in this posting are just ad pictures not available pets.*

Story
Meet Phillip!Phillip is a sweet and gentle 5-year-old cat with a calm and quiet personality. While he’s a bit shy and takes some time to warm up, once he feels comfortable, Phillip will melt your heart with his soft purrs and affectionate nature. He enjoys peaceful moments and is happiest when lounging in a cozy spot, watching the world go by. Phillip may not be the most outgoing at first, but with a little patience and love, he’ll show you what a loyal and loving companion he can be. If you’re looking for a laid-back cat who will gradually become your best friend, Phillip is ready to find his forever home.If you are interested in adopting this pet, please fill out an adoption questionnaire at www.yakimahumane.org. A Yakima Humane Society staff member will contact you once your questionnaire has been received. Adopters are welcome to visit the adoption center Monday-Saturday.A Picture says 1000 words...right? While an animal`s picture draws interest, the reality is that as a potential adopter most people would like as much information as possible about a pet. The Yakima Humane Society is an open admission shelter. What does this mean? Over 90% of the pets at the adoption center arrive as strays, no history of behavior or medical care is known. Adding a pet to your family is a big responsibility. Please research carefully and remember that adoption is lifesaving. Adopt Don`t Shop.

Story
Meet Kiwi, a three year old Domestic Shorthair cat weighing around nine pounds. Kiwi is a fun, spunky girl who is very vocal about her likes and dislikes. Kiwi really enjoys human affection and can be found at the front her of kennel meowing for attention. It was pretty funny during the photoshoot because she would smell the previous cats that had been around and make a sound of displeasure before being happy again and running up for scratches. If there are other cats in the home we recommend a slow introduction. Kiwi is very silly and will be a very fun cat for someone. If you recognize this animal please contact the adoption center at 509-457-6854.Interested in adopting this or another YHS pet? Story
Pookie is a handsome adult male cat who’s looking for a loving home where he can finally relax and feel truly cared for. This sweet guy has had a rough time recently, as he came in with some pretty nasty mats in his fur, which we`ve carefully shaved off to help him feel more comfortable. While he may seem a bit grumpy at first (he’s just been through a lot!), don’t let that fool you—Pookie absolutely loves pets and will happily purr away when you give him a gentle scratch behind the ears.Pookie will need a little extra TLC to fully trust again, but once he’s comfortable, you’ll have a loyal, affectionate companion who just wants to be loved. If you’re looking for a cat with a little attitude and a lot of heart, Pookie could be the one for you!If you are interested in adopting this pet, please fill out an adoption questionnaire at www.yakimahumane.org.
