Story
Cats-the most effective, affordable and environmentally friendly pest control method! The barn cat, also known as a feral cat, is a domestic cat, usually of mixed breed, that lives primarily out-of-doors, in a feral or semi-feral condition on agricultural properties, usually sheltering in outbuildings.Individuals interested in adopting barn cats must be able to provide the cats with shelter, food, water, and vet care. Barns, outbuildings, factories, and warehouses are all considered suitable shelters for the cats. All barn cats are spayed/neutered, vaccinated against rabies, and ear-tipped.If you are interested in adopting a barn cat please fill out the adoption questionnaire and a member of the adoption center team will contact you!*cats pictured are not available*

Story
*The pets pictured in this posting are just ad pictures not available pets.*The Yakima Humane Society provides care for thousands of animals each year, some of which require time in foster care before they are ready to be adopted. Fostering a homeless pet is both a rewarding and enriching experience; it is also great for families or individuals who love animals but cannot commit to having a full-time companion animal. The care that dedicated Foster Care Families provide is invaluable, both to the animals fostered and the people that adopt them. You can foster as much or as little as you like, and we need foster homes for a wide variety of animals - kittens, puppies, cats, dogs, and an occasional small & furry animal! You can learn more about our foster program and fill out an application athttp://www.yakimahumane.org/get-involved/foster/.*The pets pictured in this posting are just ad pictures not available pets.*

Story
Meet Magnolia, a two year old female Domestic Long Haired cat.Magnolia is a shy girl who was found as a stray. She isn`t too fond of the kennel environment and likes to hide in her box. She is one of those cats that will need time to open up in a home and will likely do better once out of the kennel environment. We recommend starting her in a bathroom which is smaller and will allow her to open up to you slowly without hiding somewhere you can`t reach her at. If you are looking for a quiet kitty that just needs some understanding, Magnolia is your girl. If you recognize this animal please contact the adoption center at 509-457-6854.Did you know YHS lets local community members FOSTER TO ADOPT?That`s where you and the pet make sure you`re a good fit for one another by having a fun sleepover prior to finalizing your adoption. It`s a win-win for everyone! Just ask our front desk staff about how it works.Interested in adopting this or another YHS pet? Please complete our adoption questionnaire found at: https://yakimahumane.org/adopt/apply/Our adoption fee includes a lovable companion, spay/neuter, vaccinations and intestinal worming, flea/tick treatment, rabies vaccine (for pets over 3-4 months of age) and a microchip with nationwide registration. Your adoption fee helps support YHS and our spay/neuter efforts in the community to end overpopulation of cats and dogs.If you have any questions, please e-mail us at adoption@yakimahumane.org.

Story
Meet Phillip!Phillip is a sweet and gentle 5-year-old cat with a calm and quiet personality. While he’s a bit shy and takes some time to warm up, once he feels comfortable, Phillip will melt your heart with his soft purrs and affectionate nature. He enjoys peaceful moments and is happiest when lounging in a cozy spot, watching the world go by. Phillip may not be the most outgoing at first, but with a little patience and love, he’ll show you what a loyal and loving companion he can be. If you’re looking for a laid-back cat who will gradually become your best friend, Phillip is ready to find his forever home.

Story
Allis is a fun four year old calico cat. Her owner passed away and I have been caring for her and her sister Moline while looking for a home for them. Allis is a little shy at first but loves head rubs and ping-pong. She has always been an inside cat and doesn't try to go outside. It would be great if someone would like to adopt her and her sister together. Allis likes to think she is in charge...she gets along with her sister but probably not other cats.

Story
Moose is a really cool cat. He's about a year old and we adopted him as a kitten. We soon found out that my wife is allergic to cats. We thought we could deal with it until she got pregnant. Couple the allergies with the pregnancy and it's becoming too much to deal with for my wife. He was raised around a lab and golden retriever and loves to play with them when he's not napping. He love to go outside in the day time and come back in a night to hang out with us. When we take the dogs on a walk he'll follow us through the neighborhood. He is great with kids and dogs. He is house/litter box trained and is just a really solid cat. We hate to re-home him but feel we must. Looking for a good home that will give him a good life!
