APPLICATION: If this dog has stolen your heart, don't wait! Please apply online now to be considered as a potential adopter. NAME, GENDER, AGE WEIGHT & BREED DOG: SWEETIE GENDER: FEMALE DOB: 11-30-22 approx. WEIGHT: 30 approx. BREED: Louisiana Catahoula Leopard Mix LOCATION: Delhi, LA ADOPTION FEE: $450.00 (includes transport) RESCUE STORY Kaylee, our foster’s oldest granddaughter, was with her one day and they saw a dog on the side of the road—she was lovingly obedient and was waiting for the person that dumped her to come back and pick her up. This was not the first time they saw the dog, so Kaylee begged her grandma to turn around and go back. Kaylee gently picked her up and put her in the car—of course they brought her home. It was obvious that this dog was abandoned; they noticed that people had been feeding her with scraps that were on the side of the road. However, Kaylee was very worried that she was going to get hit. Kaylee named her “Sweetie”, she is probably about nine months old and she’s heartworm negative. She’s already on prevention and she’s had all her vaccinations. She just needs to be spayed which we can get done as soon as possible. Sweetie is very grateful and appreciative. She knows that she’s been rescued and she’s obviously a good dog. PERSONALITY Sweetie is a beautiful Catahoula Cur mix. She was blessed with all the gorgeous markings and rich colors on her coat. She is the still a typical “baby” and she craves love, attention, and safety. According to foster mom, she is super friendly, and warms right up to anyone that is dishing out love. She has a sweet disposition and has an all-around sweet nature. She keeps right up with her foster siblings, running, playing, and rolling around the grass enjoying all the silly antics going on. Patricia, her foster mom, tells us that she is not sure how she would be with the cats if left unattended. She is very good-natured, so happy to feel healthy again, eager to learn all about her new life and doesn’t have a mean bone in her body. CHILDREN Sweetie is very friendly loves kids and gets along with all other dogs, however, she is still a puppy, she gets along with anyone. Children will love to run and play with her, but we always strongly suggest that no dog, young or old, should ever be left unsupervised with children until everyone is very comfortable in all situations. ABOUT THE BREED When considering adding a new member to the family it is important to research breeds so that everyone, including the new pup, is comfortable and happy. The Catahoula Cur is a loyal, independent, and watchful breed. They are a medium-large, short-coated dog, known for its many varied coat and eye colors and patterns. Catahoula’s are the only breed of dog to have historically originated in the state of Louisiana. They are affectionate, loyal, gentle, watchdogs and of course as loyal companions. The Catahoula Cur is also an intelligent, hardworking, and loyal dog breed, which makes it a dependable addition to many families. They love the great outdoors and are the ideal dog for owners who like to explore nature and stay active. We are looking forward to finding Sweetie her forever home, so that this chapter will close for her. We want her to live a life of love and happiness with her new family. Her rough beginning is in the past, she is a delight, and will make a wonderful companion for a family looking to offer her a loving home. She has been given a great start with her foster family, they restored her confidence in humans and gave her the love and security she needed. If you think Sweetie would be a good fit for your family, she will absolutely bring you years of love, joy, companionship, and lots of fun, too! We process applications every day, so get your application in. WHAT DOES THE NAME SWEETIE MEAN? Story
adoption donation : $699 weight 34 lbs Age 5 months as of 3/24           Sweet  Gretel and her three sisters, Eva, Schatzi and Freya, were left in the driveway at the Wags rescue in Mississippi, an all too common occurrence. At first we consider them shepherd mixes, but in a dog scanning app, they appear to be more Catahoula leopard dogs with plott hound—definitely mixes of several medium size breeds.     The puppies have been having a grand time playing together and snuggling in a puppy pile to nap. They have all been spayed and given their vaccines and are ready for loving homes. All of the girls are around 35 pounds, they were born in late October. They are friendly and loving and will make great family dogs.    Wags is a struggling 501(c) 3 where one woman in rural Mississippi takes care of about 150 homeless and stray dogs.  Adoption donations are the only source of funding for the rescue. Adoption fee includes the transport from Mississippi, vaccines, microchip and spay and neuter at one of the clinics we use.  Meet Lou Lou – A Beautiful Soul Ready for Love!  Lou Lou is a stunning 50-pound, 1-2 year old Catahoula mix with a beautiful smile and dancing eyes that invites you to make friends with her.  She was originally an abandoned girl who was found alone in the middle of a storm, searching for safety. Now, she’s looking for something even more precious—a forever home where she will be loved and cherished. With her blue merle  coat that is stunning and her soulful eyes, Lou Lou is as gorgeous on the outside as she is on the inside. She has a sweet and affectionate personality, melting into belly rubs and eagerly snuggling into your lap. Once she knows you’re her friend, she’ll stick by your side like a loyal shadow, offering endless love and devotion. At about 18 months to 2 years old, Lou Lou has plenty of energy and a playful spirit. She would thrive in an active home where she can run, explore, and learn about all the joys life has to offer. While she can be a little shy at first, she just needs some patience and encouragement to build her confidence. With love and gentle guidance, she will blossom into the amazing companion she is meant to be. Lou Lou is still learning about things like walking on a leash and being an indoor pet, but she is eager to please and will flourish in a home that continues to show her kindness and guidance. In many ways, she is like a puppy—a clean slate ready for training, adventures, and a lifetime of love. Lou Lou has been spayed and is up to date on all vaccinations. She is ready to find her forever family—a patient, loving home where she can continue to grow, trust, and be the incredible dog she was always meant to be. Roux is a stunning little pup with the most heart-melting eyes and a face that could brighten anyone’s day. This sweet boy came from an unwanted litter in Texas, but you’d never know it from his loving spirit and sunny personality.Roux is the total package – affectionate, gentle, and full of puppy charm. He adores snuggles and gets along beautifully with everyone: adults, kids (he happily walks on a leash with the 4-year-old in his foster home!), other dogs, and even cats. He may be a little curious about feline friends, but he’s respectful and calm around them. He’s doing great with crate training – keeping his crate clean and dry with supervision – and is making solid progress with housetraining. He also rides quietly in the car and walks well on leash, which is pretty impressive for a young pup!Roux is looking for a home that understands the joys (and occasional craziness!) of raising a puppy – one that will keep him mentally and physically engaged as he grows into the amazing dog he’s destined to be.If you're ready to welcome a snuggly, sweet, and seriously adorable companion into your life, Roux is your perfect match.Check out some videos of this adorable boy:https://youtube.com/shorts/s0owtIlPR38?si=W3B585wDJ2O3vtHOhttps://youtube.com/shorts/prBbtZZMVC0?si=54nC7fCpE_8BSZAGhttps://youtube.com/shorts/OTE5t_3beNk?si=t-iSdfbevkBfRCaRhttps://youtu.be/u5geYXFt3sQ?si=XcvZSbPkuF35oeF_Name: RouxBreed: Catahoula Leopard Dog/CrossbreedSex: MaleAge: 10 weeksWeight: 20.0Spayed/Neutered: Too young - Spay/Neuter Contract will be required and strictly enforced.Vaccinations: Puppy vaccines will be up to date. We can provide adopters with a list of low-cost SN clinics when requested. The adoption fee also includes the transport fee when applicableATTENTION PUPPY ADOPTERS:  You must attend training/behavior classes with your new dog unless you are an experienced dog owner and your adoption coordinator is comfortable with your experience.  This requirement is for the benefit of you and your puppy, so if you experience behavior issues, you have a point of contact.  PLEASE—Think long and hard before adopting a puppy. Consider the lifestyle change this puppy will come with. He cannot be crated for more than 3-4 hours until he's older. Puppy-proofing your home will be necessary. Puppies scratch and nip, so if you have small children, can they handle this? Training will be so crucial in this puppy's life. Story
My mom's name is Stella Marie. She is a stunning Leopard Catahoula who was abused and dumped. She wasn't spayed at the time of being dumped and ended up pregnant. One day 14+ weeks ago, She wandered up to a lovely, fantastic, safe porch. She was paper thin, tired, and thirsty and couldn't move any farther. This kind couple got home from work and saw her on their porch. Immediately, they knew they needed to help save her life. They brought her in, cleaned, and fed her. She slept for quite a while. Then, one day, her foster mom told She foster dad that there were babies.  Not long after that, they counted seven beautiful babies. My foster parents kept the runt. Our names are Robbie (M), Dakota (M), Kingston (M), Fernie (F), Moonlight (F), and Lucy (F). Like most strays, there are multiple dads. My boy Robbie (M) is a leopard also. Dakota (M) is my biggest and sweetest (M), Kingston (M) has a lot of Boxer in him, Moonlight (F) has the shape of a moon pattern in her fur on her rear end, Fernie (F) is a little girl, and her sister Lucy (F) is the tiniest. Lucy and Fernie have German Shepherd features, including their ears standing up. Dakota is a super gentle giant. We are so sweet and nervous around new people for just a few minutes. Then they realize you are ok. Happy babies are full of energy and life.  I love dogs and cats of all sizes. My foster family has two large-breed adult dogs (one a senior) and several cats, including eight kittens of all ages. My ideal home would be active but unnecessary with another animal or two. I know I would do great with people and older children. I like car rides and pleasing others. I am treat-oriented. Please request an application, and I will begin my journey home to you. The first person to submit an application and a refundable deposit will be the first to be looked at to adopt me.
