Name: Casper Breed Guess: Chihuahua Mix Age: 3 years old Gender: Neutered Male Weight: 25 pounds Shelter Temperament: Shy and Sweet Children: Yes Cats: Yes, slightly curious Dogs: Meet and Greet Required Adoption fee: $375 Likes: Playing outside Snacks (he is on a diet) Snuggles once he warms up The Animal Rescue Project (www.animalrescueproject.org) is committed to the best possible veterinary care for the pets it rescues and it is looking for adopters who will be similarly committed. Adoptions are NOT first come, first served! We seek to choose the best fit for the approved adopter and pet. Please understand that these animals are still new to us and their needs and requirements can change at any time as we learn more about them. We will try our best to get them updated online as soon as possible. All dogs and puppies are given a general check-up when they enter our program. They receive medication to remove any intestinal parasites (worms), fleas, and ticks they may have. Dogs greater than six months of age are checked for heartworm. If heartworm positive, the Animal Rescue Project treats the disease. Dogs and pups receive all age-appropriate vaccinations for distemper, and dogs greater than four months of age are also vaccinated for rabies, in compliance with State of Michigan laws. All dogs are also microchipped. Most dogs and older puppies are spayed or neutered before adoption. In the case of puppies not old enough to be safely sterilized, a $50 deposit is required at the time of adoption and is refunded to the adopter with proof of sterilization. The Animal Rescue Project requires every adopter to establish an active relationship with a veterinarian no later than 10 days after adoption. Adopters will receive a plan for routine veterinary care at the time of adoption and are expected to work with their vet to complete the plan.

Story
Lola is sweet and pretty laid back. She is a little shy to new people but warms up quickly. Can be a little vocal at times but mostly loves to get cuddles on the couch, be swirled up under a blanket or enjoying some zoomies around the yard when it's warm and sunny. She is approximately 9 years old and weighs around 7lbs. She's potty trained and crate trained. Due to my busy schedule in the medical field she does not get the attention/free time she deserves. She's getting down in the dumps so I'd love for someone with more free time to enjoy her calming snuggles.

My dogs name is pepe, he was given to my friend by my friend because she couldn't take me with her...I was brought up in a home where my owner had to leave on trips...I am fixed, have a chip...was never taught to go outside to go to the bathroom...I don't do good with other people especially children....I am 7 years old...I prefer to be with a adult female...I love laying on laps, I love to go for walks and car rides...I don't particularly like black men, they scare me...I come with food, blankets.toys ,crate....I hope that you can find it in your heart to take me in, and to be patient with me....my mommy who took me in has to move, her building is shutting down ..we have to be out by October 31st of 2024....all I'm asking for is a loving caring home...

Story
Hi friends, I’m Wizzard, a 9-month-old Chihuahua/Dachshund mix, and I weigh in at just 10 pounds. I’ve been through a lot, but things are looking up! I was rescued from a terrible hoarding situation in Texas, and it was pretty scary. I had a bad skin condition from fleas and the awful living conditions, and I was frightened of everything – leashes, being touched, even walking on grass. But thanks to some amazing people, I’ve made so much progress. Now, I actually enjoy being petted and can walk on a leash without being scared. I’m still a bit shy, but once I get to know you, I come around. I get along well with other dogs and think I’d be okay with cats, too. Because I’m a little timid, I’d do best with older children.I’d love a home with a fully FENCED-IN  YARD so I can run and play to my heart’s content. Having another dog as a playmate would be awesome, too! I’m potty and crate trained, fully-vetted and my adoption fee is $350. I’m told I’m super cute, and once my hair grows back in, I’ll be even more handsome.Questions about me? Email projecthoperescue@gmail.com. if you think we could be a good match, get answers to your questions and request an adoption application. I can’t wait to find my forever home – although I had a bad start, I know the rest of my life is going to be amazing!August 18, 2024, 3:07 pm

Story
Hi! My name is Buckaroo, but my friends call me RooRoo. I'm a 4-year-old female Chiweenie (that’s a Chihuahua and Dachshund mix!) weighing just 13 pounds. I might be small, but I've got a lot of love to give. I’m being fostered near Coldwater, Michigan.I didn’t have the best start in life—I came from a scary hoarding situation in Texas, and when I got to my foster home, everything was new and frightening. I didn’t know what a leash was, walking on grass was strange, and I wasn’t used to being touched by kind humans. But guess what? I’ve come a long way! Now, I love going on walks, belly rubs are my favorite and I’m getting used to all the love and attention.I get along well with other dogs, though I haven’t met any cats yet, so I’m not sure how I feel about them. I would do well with respectful children. I’d love a home with a fully FENCED-IN YARD where I can run and play. Oh, and if you have another dog for me to play with, that would be so fun! I also love my toys and curling up next to you while you relax.I’m potty and crate-trained, fully-vetted and microchipped and my adoption fee is $300. If you have questions about me, please email projecthoperescue@gmail.com. If you think we’d be a perfect match, please fill out an application by visiting our website at www.projecthoperescue.org. I’m so excited to meet you and become your new best friend!August 18, 2024, 3:07 pm

Story
Jax- Available for adoption.  Jax is a happy, playful 2 year old chihuahua/terrier mix. He packs alot of personality in his 5 pound body.  He is being crate and house trained and is doing well with both. You should still expect some accidents while he adjusts. He likes other dogs, but would do best in a house without kitties.  Please live within 1 hour of Elkhart. All pets in the home must be up to date on vaccines and prevention. We don't adopt to homes with underground fences.   Jax has been fully vetted and does need one more booster in 2-4 weeks. His adoption fee is $200. Please apply on our website. Story
Available for adoption! May 1-2 years old. Chihuahua mix 13lbs. May has finished raising her puppies and all of them have found wonderful forever homes. Now, its her turn. May LOVES other dogs and we are looking for a home with a playful dog for her to hang out with. She also needs a fenced yard. May is doing great with her leash training but doesn't like to use the bathroom on one. May came to us severely under socialized. Everything was scary to her and we are slowly making great progress with that and building her confidence. I have enrolled her in a confidence course which begins on the 21st in Elkhart. The 6 week course is paid for. Children can be a bit scary to May. I imagine its because she hasn't been around them much but we are working through that. She is also a bit slow to warm up to new people but makes fast friends with treats and no social pressure. She is a work in progress and has great potential. In her foster home you can find May hanging out on the couch or playing with the other dogs or toys. While she doesn't always love to share toys she has learned to share with Charlie and the two of them play a good game of, Catch me if you can. May has been full vetted and is available to go home this weekend depending on how she is healing from her spay. www.trackingintheshadows.com **We do not accept electric/underground fences. All dogs & cats in the home must be spayed/neutered & up to date on core vaccines & preventatives in order for your application to be approved.** ##2067512##
