I'm a colorful puppy. I was born in the care of Polk County Humane Society to a surrendered mama. My mama is a cutie and so is dad - so I'm destined to paint your heart with love and joy. We are chihuahua, beagle, minpin and who knows what else. Our mama and dad were both about 10 – 12 lbs, so we surely won’t get much bigger than that. If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt. We are in a foster home and will be going to the vet for our neuter/spay surgeries on 8/16/24. We will be able to go home the very next day. We are getting a lot of applications (as you can imagine with us being so darn cute!) Please don’t call. We just can’t answer so many call with our small staff. The nice people here plan to review the applications on Tuesday, 8/13 and pick a few out to meet us. Please put your application in soon! Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice a month. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual and we will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For transports out of state (CO & IA & MN), there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veteinarian ($35). For pets transported to St. Louis, there is just a $50 fee to help with gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! ##2091269##

They love toys, treats, car rides and most of all love and attention. Taco likes to hang out by the window and will let you know if he sees someone. He likes to sleep under the covers. This is Gimli. We believe that she is a 16-week-old Chihuhua/Terrier mix. Her breed is just a guess. We estimate She will end up around 25 pounds but this is just a guess! Gimli came to Judy's Forgotten Jewells on June 1st. She was brought to us by a Missouri shelter with her littermates. Since she has been in care, staff members say that she is sooo sweet and playful. She gets along well with her littermates. Her adoption fee is $500. The adoption fee includes their care, de-worming, microchip, neuter, vaccines, fecal test, and preventatives up to the point of adoption. *SPECIAL NEEDS - MENTALLY CHALLENGED- secure fenced yard - companion dog required* Meet Money Penny! She's 8 yrs old, 14 lbs, Chihuahua Mix. Penny is a Special Needs Dog due to genetics. She was brought into rescue with 3 other dogs we believe were siblings. She's fine physically . Her biggest issue is her fear, slow comprehension and super sensitive t o noises and she'll run to safe zone. She eats well, and she will take food & treats from your fingers. She does hang sometimes with the other dogs as seen in the photos. So having another dog in home is a must for her to understand how to be a dog. She can not be handle but she will sit in the room on a dog bed or next to you on a couch if other dogs are around. She is not a lap dog. Because she is frightened quickly, she has not been taken outside because not sure how noises outside and the wide-open space would affect her and whether she will be controllable. Foster home is still working on that. She is 95% potty pad trained. Sometimes when she hears a noise and runs, she may potty just because of running. But 95% of the time she used potty pads. PENNY WOULD LOVE TO HAVE SOMEONE WHO WOULD JUST LET HER LIVE QUIETLY AND LEARN TO BE PART OF THE FAMILY.
