Story
Jerry is absolutely the sweetest dog and really just needs someone to be his best friend.  He is a senior Chihuahua mix (b. May 2012), who was brought to Muddy Paws through a partnership with the Artemis Project - an Arkansas-based animal rescue. After Jerry came to Omaha, he was adopted and spent about a year and a half with someone.  His owner became ill and can no longer care for him.  We need your help to find him a special home to live his best life.  He is a sweetheart and is friendly with other small, laid-back dogs his size (no big dogs!).  He has done well around other small dogs and cats/kittens in his foster home. Jerry really needs to be with someone that will not be gone for long hours of the day.  He would be happy going places with you, on car rides and even for walks in a dog stroller.  If you are working at home, he will be at your feet napping all day.  He really does not like to be left home alone.  He would make an amazing emotional support dog for someone and appears to be very good with people, although young kids should ease into petting him. A few things we've learned about Jerry: He needs a home with a yard rather than apartment living. He will benefit from being with someone that can let him outside every few hours. Belly bands work well if you’re going to gone a few hours. He does well with a meal and potty break schedule. Since he’s an older guy, he needs stairs or a ramp to get on the couch (he has minimal depth perception and gets a little anxious since he can’t jump up). Jerry is a toothless fella, so he'll need a home where other resident pets are friendly, easygoing, and happy to have another senior friend around.  He is a little overwhelmed by small children, but would be okay with older kids in the home.  One of his favorite things to do is spending time curled up with his person!  If you're looking for a sweet little cuddle man, this senior guy might be the one for you! The suggested adoption donation for Jerry is $325. Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization which means that part of your donation MAY be TAX-DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals.  In 2020 alone, we were able to provide animal Healthcare costing over $241,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application is approved, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver.  Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months.  To learn about Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue or donate to our animals, please visit our website at MuddyPawsSecondChanceRescue.com or our Facebook Page. ##1410898##

Story
Molly was a pet for a disabled woman who spoiled her rotten. She passed away and is currently living with her owners son who is unable to keep her. She is shy but when she gets to know you she is a snuggler extraordinaire. She sounds tough but is really sweet. She is about 3 and uses an indoor litter box. Molly enjoys walking and playing.

Story
Chase is a spirited 13-year-old Chihuahua who still has plenty of energy and zest for life! While it’s difficult for me to part with him, I’m seeking a loving home where Chase can thrive. Personality: Chase is incredibly loyal and loves being with his trusted people. He enjoys staying active, going for walks, and playing, despite being a senior dog. However, Chase prefers a calm, predictable environment. He would do best in a household where he can be the center of attention. Health: Though Chase still has a lot of energy for his age, he’s starting to experience some natural signs of aging, like very slight reduced hearing and sight. Despite this, he’s otherwise healthy and up-to-date on all his vaccinations. Ideal Home: Chase would thrive in a quiet home with someone who understands his needs and can give him the space and routine that help him feel safe. He’s looking for a dedicated owner who will respect his boundaries and provide the companionship he craves.

Story
Lucky was surrendered to Brave after his owner could no longer take care of him. Lucky is an energetic guy who loves long walks (1-2 miles), but is also happy to curl up and nap most of the day. Lucky does well with older children, pre-teens and teens. He is not comfortable around younger children, especially if the environment is busy or chaotic. Lucky is the perfect dog for someone looking for a companion to watch movies with all day. He comes with a wardrobe - hand-made sweater, and raincoat and fleece, which can be combined as a parka. He also has a kennel, dog bed and sofa blanket as well as a harness and leashes.  House trained: YesLeash trained: YesKennel trained: YesRides well in a car: YesGood with other dogs: YesGood with cats: YesGood with young children (under 10):No, prefers older less rambunctious kidsShy or confident: ConfidentBarks: At dramatic noises outside, or if he hears or sees other dogsApartment qualified: YesHealth concerns or special needs: Heart disease improved with medication, and subsequent narrowing of the bronchi, also well supported by medication. He has had one previous case of pancreatitis 5 years ago so eats a low fat diet. We believe this puppy/dog is a Chihuahua mix and is about 13 years old. This puppy/dog is fostered in a private home in Lincoln. The adoption fee is $200 which helps cover the cost of vetting procedures. Adoptable pets will have received age-appropriate vaccines and dewormings, a microchip, heartworm test (if applicable) and a spay/neuter.  If you’re interested in adopting this puppy/dog, please submit an inquiry or email BraveAnimalRescue@gmail.com to ask about our adoption process (please check your spam or junk email if you do not hear back from us within a few business days). We are 100% volunteer staffed and will respond to your email as soon as possible. After you have submitted an and been approved, we will set up a meet and greet between you and the puppy/dog.
