Story
Are you the type of person that likes to give sweet older pups a chance they might otherwise not get? Sweetie loves attention and will happily help you out by guarding the door of the bathroom from the inside. However, she can also be quite the independent little lady and doesn’t need to be a velcro dog… unless you want her to be! Sweetie can be a little bossy with her dog friends (part of why we think she’s mixed with chihuahua!) but generally gets along well with everyone. Sweetie is a beauty but would benefit from a little tough love when it comes to feeding and giving out treats and a little more activity in her day. A physically fenced yard is required. Sweetie is available for adoption in Ohio to residents of Ohio. Story
Name: Titan Gender: Male Age: 11 years - birthday is 5/13/2012 Size: Small (under 25 lbs) Breed: Chihuahua Mix Energy Level: Medium Dog Friendly:  I will check out other dogs and decide if they are worthy.  I like to be dominant so they may need to give me some space and time to get to know them.  I do well with dogs my own size in my foster home; I do get easily overstimulated on walks but love backyard play (fenced yard needed) Cat Friendly: No, they're not for me Kid Friendly: Yes, I like young teens and older Apartment Friendly: No Physical Fence Requirement: I do need a physical fence that will keep me in and other creatures out Crate & Potty Trained: Yes, I have never had an accident in the house.  I may have to go more frequent being a senior.  Just listen to my cues.  Ideal Home/Adopter: My ideal home would be in a quiet neighborhood. I am easily redirected with “treat treats,“ and I go inside if I’m barking at neighbors or other neighborhood sounds (lawnmower, kids playing/ talking loud). I have a heart murmur and take medication delicately from your fingers.   I have some other calming and old age pain medicine.  Between my age (11), heart murmur and some back issues,  I will be more of a companion dog than exercise partner.  Likes: I LOVE puzzles that dispense treats. I master them quickly; keeps my mind sharp you know.  I prefer a puzzle or two a day. I love my toys, skinny “No hide sticks” and vegetables (carrots, broccoli, diced vegi mix, etc.) I love car rides and will be your companion. I gotta admit though I am learning about new seats since I tweaked my back.  I like to have a quiet space I can go to when I’m tired or over stimulated. Dislikes: I don’t like lots of company, noise, larger dogs in my face (they say it’s Napoleon syndrome - I will try to show I’m louder, stronger) Additional Considerations: I am extremely intelligent and eager to please.  I recently had an oops and hurt my back.  My vet/life coach says no more racing around the yard, no jumping up multiple stairs or off furniture.  She says I would be best to keep my paws on the ground.  Gotta stay healthy.   What makes this dog special:  Did you know there is a moon named after me - the second largest moon in the solar system?  I also share my name with an awesome Nissan SUV and an investment group.  I’m pretty much larger than life. I came to RESCUEDOhio when my human mom passed away. I want more than anything to be part of a family again. I am a big love bug and am happy to snuggle up with anyone and everyone.   A senior man, the way to my heart is through my stomach. I have an assortment of treat dispensing puzzles. I also love car rides especially if you'll share some fries or maybe a little sausage. I am more of a lounge chair partner than walking partner. Afternoon snuggles and naps are favorites.  I’m making a bucket list of things to do/places to go as a senior (The Park of Roses, Topiary Park etc).  I hope you’ll join me.  Titan's adoption fee is $195.  Hhe is part of our Seniors for Seniors program ($65 for adopters 65+). All fees include spay/neuter, microchip, vaccinations, worming, flea and heartworm current. All dogs over 6 months of age have been tested and are heartworm negative. If you are interested in Titan, apply at rescuedohio.org to become an approved adopter and a meet & greet can be set up once approved. ##1306109##

Story
WolfMaleAge: 1 yearWeight: 25 lbsBreed: Chihuahua Mix Hi! I’m Wolf. I am a playful and curious guy who gets along great with other dogs. I have not been around cats or kids to know how I would do around them yet. I am house trained and am working on crate training, and because my crate still makes a little nervous, I would prefer to be confined to a small, safe space like a laundry room or kitchen while you’re gone for the workday. I am learning to walk on my leash too. I am still a little nervous when there are too many sounds, but when I do an early morning walk and it's quiet my foster mom says I do really well. I seem to learn best when I am around other dogs (I really like to play with my fur siblings), so I would thrive really well in a home with another dog. One of my favorite things to do is play and get my young dog energy out. I love cheese and bones and I really enjoy cuddling. I also like to lounge around, go to the park and take my calm walks. I cannot wait to find my very own active family who will give me all the love and attention I deserve and who will be patient with me as I learn what being a dog means. If you are interested in meeting this shy but curious young guy, apply to adopt him at: www.causeforcanines.org. Adoption fee: $350. Must be an Ohio resident and 23 or older. Children must be 5 years old or older.  ##2042817##

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Online Adoption Application › Meet Pretty Girl! This little pretty has not had an easy go of it, as she spent many days in emergency care for Parvo and then some (over $8,000 in vet bills!)  Pretty Girl is healthy now and making up for lost time. She is a petite princess and can sometimes be bossy with other dogs.  She has had some exposure to cats in her current foster home. The cats there do not put up with dog nonsense. She is ready to have all your attention to herself. She can be a little timid and unsure so she will need to have your heart and your time.  Because of her rough past, she can be a flight risk.  She will need a physical 3 foot fenced yard that she cannot escape from and since she is so tiny, their can't be any spaces she will fit through. Pretty Girl is still working on leash training so a secured area will be the safest place to get her used to her new family and a leash.  Just be patient with her and you won’t be disappointed.  Pretty Girl is working on using the doggie door and piddle pads in her foster home. If you want the cutest addition to your home – turn in an application!  She is ready for a stable and safe home. Columbus and surrounding areas only please. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Online Adoption Application › Meet Toby. Toby is a five-year-old, neutered male chihuahua. No kids. Poor Toby was abused by his previous owners and then left behind to fend for himself after the abusers moved out. Toby is doing great learning to trust humans. Toby is dog selective when it comes to other dogs but is fine with most dogs his size. Toby is doing great on crate training and can be crated after his foster mom worked with him on crating. Toby knows how to use a doggy door and will use a pee pad if he doesn't have access to the doggy door. Toby is very smart and loves all the attention he can get. He loves to spend time hanging out on your lap for love and attention.  Toby would be great as an only dog or could coexist with a friendly dog of his choice of course! Toby knows to sit and knows the word no. Toby is vocal when seeing other dogs. Ok with his foster mom's cat.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.August 19, 2024, 7:36 pm
