Story
Olivia is a special and sweet girl. She adores her human, has a mind of her own, and does not hesitate to let you know when she thinks she is not getting the attention she expects :) Her favorite thing seems to be to curl up under the blanket with her human and take long naps. She lives with 5 other dogs and is getting along great with them. She isn't scared to tell her big 50lb sister who is boss! She is very curious and wants to know what is going on at all times. She wants to be where you are to make sure she can keep an eye on you. Olivia has a few special needs, and is looking for a special family that will given her the extra care she requires. She can't use her back legs due to what might be a spinal injury. She does have sensation in both back legs though, so we started with some mobility exercises for a few months. We have also fitted her with a set of fancy pink wheels and she took to them immediately. They give her freedom, and she has quickly mastered how to navigate corners. She gets to wear them in the house several hours a day, until she decides she needs her precious naps. Now she zips around the house and the yard like a pro! She hasn't been doing exercises for some time now, however she has gained a bit more strength in her back legs and is able to stand up and take a few wobbly steps at a time. She also went for a short walk outside where she met several neighborhood kids and pups. More walks to come once the weather improves. Olivia is also a little incontinent, and that has been very easy to manage with washable diapers and a little help. Olivia has an amazingly inspiring zest for life and doesn't let this slow her down one bit. She is looking for her special family that will be willing to give her the little extra care she needs with loads of love that she absolutely demands :)Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.August 9, 2024, 9:46 am

Story
Brandi found herself on the streets in Little Elm in 2021, at the height of COVID, at about 10 months old.  She was lucky to survive the harsh streets and, fortunately, she was picked up by animal control and taken to the safety of the shelter.  Her luck improved when she was blessed to end up with us, Animal Rescue of Texas, and land in a great foster family. Brandi is highly intelligent and a quick learner. She mastered the doggie door in one day and uses it like an old pro following the resident crew for important engagements outside. She has learned some basic commands (sit, stay, in the crate, come and knows the release command) and absolutely loves large dogs so she may have lived with them in her prior life. She also gets along with medium and small dogs at the foster home, and does not mind cats or birds. Brandi is EXTREMELY high energy and is constantly engaged in something. She loves to run outside, play with whatever she can find and goes into zoom and zip mode at certain times of the day. She loves to play with the lab mix, sometimes, to extremes that the foster mom has to intervene.  Her best friend is a resident cocker spaniel whom she helped when she first came.  She has been a great help for the cocker spaniel and they are besties.  She plays with toys and retrieves them from the toy box daily and strews them around the room. She does have a bad habit of nipping at the legs of the large dogs and is learning to understand it is not a good idea, but it is a challenge when she gets excited. Brandi has a very loud bark for her size and sounds like a large dog. She protects her home and will bark a lot if not told to stop. She may not be a good fit for an apartment because of her barking and energy level. She would also do best with another dog in the house as she loves the company and loves playing with them.  She loves to go under the covers at night and sleep with her human so, if you are up for an affectionate warm dog at night, she is your girl.     Because Brandi is highly intelligent, that means she can figure out many complex problems, like how to get out of the yard or door. She has learned to stay until released at the door, but she constantly looks to see  how she can breach the 8 ft privacy fence and iron fencing with toddler bars at her foster home, which isn't  an easy feat. Because of her desire and curiosity, Brandi would do best in a home with a privacy fence of at least 6ft with no breach areas at the base (preferably concrete barrier as she is a digger) and no openings of any kind that look tempting. She is spayed, UTD on her vaccines, HW-, crate trained, house broken, and a lovable pup who just wants lots of love. If you would like to meet this bundle of joy, please complete an application.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.August 9, 2024, 9:46 am

Story
May I introduce Alfie, a distinguished gentleman to be sure. Alfie recovered from an unfortunate incident with an automobile and is already fully recovered. Nonetheless, Alfie is always happy to make the acquaintance of other canids and humans, including children! He is not bothered by such trivialities as body mass, taking an equal liking to other Chihuahua sized dogs as well as Great Danes. While he has not had the pleasure of meeting felines, we do not have any concerns about him living cats in his future home! He does have a preference for a more calm energy level, whomever is the source. Alfie is potty trained and can pretty much fit into any home. He is potty trained and can be crated, or not crated. All Dallas Pets Alive adoptable pets are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines upon adoption. The standard minimum donation for dogs over six months to seven years is $200, puppies under six months is $250, dogs eight years and over are $100 unless specified otherwise. You can view all adoptable pets and fill out an adoption application online on our website at http://dallaspetsalive.org/adopt/adoptable-dogs/ . Story
Cain is a 6 year old 14 pound chihuahua that thrives of attention. He's such a happy little guy especially when he's around children. He has never let the fact he's paralyzed from the waist down affect his demeanor or block his little ray of sunshine! He's also dog & cat  friendly and loves people!   Cain's favorite thing to do is burrow under a blanket as close to your body as he can but he doesnt mind sleeping in his own bed or play pen at night. In the mornings he is ready for some good neck scratches and attention from each child in his Foster Home. Food is the way to Cain's heart. He loves strawberries, apples, and egg with his medicine which he takes twice a day. He never appears to be in any pain and is so full of life and has so much love to give. He loves stroller rides, car rides and even days where he can just lay around with his favorite friend. Cain is learning to use the wheelchair but not yet a fan.  He prefers the lifting harness to be carried.  If you open the door to go outside, he will come flying down the hallway because he LOVES being outside!!!! The best part is how excited he gets, about food and people he loves. He does the "Cain Dance" where his ears go back, he smiles big while hopping around and spinning until you get on the floor and love on him. To meet Cain in person visit us at www.DSDA.org/adopt and submit our online application.   * Adoption Fees: Puppies (12 months and under) - $325  Dogs (over 12 months) - $275  Qualifications for Adoption:  No dog is alike and each dog has different requirements based on breed, age, energy level and life experiences. DSDA is very careful to place our dogs in homes that we believe are the best fit for the dog based on our experience with each dog. All of our dogs live in foster homes which allows us the opportunity to learn about their individual needs.  Must be 21 years or older with identification showing present address. Must have the knowledge and consent of all adults living in the household. Vet checks are required. All resident animals must be spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations and on monthly heartworm and flea/tick preventative (if applicable). Must receive proof of pet deposit and lease allowing pets if renting. Willingness and capacity to spend the time and money necessary to provide training, medical treatment and responsible care for a pet. Applicant is home more than not. ##1603915##

Story
This is sweet, sweet Henry. He is an older boy who is just happy to hang out and smile at you. He likes to follow you around the house to watch with curiosity at everything you do. With his timid ways, he gets along with other dogs, kids, and cats alike. He can be crated and is house trained. He doesn't need a lot of walks but likes to be outside, though he does seem to have allergies that make him sneeze after he's gone out. His favorite thing to do is curl up beside his person and look sweet. He's the perfect house guest just for you. ##2083209##

Story
Opie is a super smart, super sweet dog, perfect for a family with children who want a buddy to play with! He fetches, sits and is working on stay and improving his leash skills. He is crate trained but also human bed trained and is a perfect sleep companion. He is also dog friendly and likes to play with both of my dogs though the older one could live without it. There is not a mean bone in his body and he is very quick to bond. Whoever gets Opie is so lucky! Opie is a 5 years old Chihuahua mix and he weighs around 19 lbs.  He is playful and will be great with a doggy or human playmate.  Does he sound like a dog that you have been looking for?  Please fill an application to adopt and we'll arrange a meetup if you're a suitable candidate for Opie. ##2110725##

Story
My mom bought Zoey and Chloe about 3 years ago during the pandemic. They are around 4 years old. They are litter mates and have always been together, so they must be homed TOGETHER as they are bonded. They are great dogs, but they need more attention and care than my mom is able to give. They are reactive towards other dogs (as chihuahuas tend to be) when they are on walks, but surprisingly have been fine at doggy daycare and occasionally at the dog park. They are super smart fast learners. With consistent training, they will easily improve. They also have big and unique personalities. Chloe’s (brown) love language is walks or being off-leash outside. She is relatively more reserved and quiet than Zoey. Zoey’s love language is food and quality time. She can be talkative and will follow you around. I love them so so much! Although, I cannot keep them, I really want them to have a better life with a family who can give them the care and attention they deserve.
