More "sought out breeds may have a higher adoption donation) Adoption donations are to be made via cash, or credit/debit card. There is a $5 fee to run cards. We do not accept checks for adoption fees. Please remember to bring a martingale collar and leash (non-retractable) with you the day of the adoption. We typically have adoption events on Wednesdays 5-7pm, Fridays 6-8pm, and 11 to 3pm. Our adoption center is located at 3602 Lafayette Blvd, Suite 101, Fredericksburg, VA 22408. It's important that you keep an eye on your emails for any changes or updates during the adoption process. Old Dominion Humane Society is a volunteer based organization. We are run completely by volunteers, who also have full time jobs, so we appreciate your patience. Currently, the average timeframe for a response to your application is 1 week. We're looking for a very special home for this tiny one; preferably with older children, settled household, and no larger dogs. Kingsley needs a comfortable lap and a warm, cozy bed. This poor pup already had 22 teeth pulled so only wet food for him. Kinglsey is good with dogs as long as they don't play rough or try to step on him! Will snuggle with her person once she gets used to you and can be very loving to her person. Not recommended for family with young children. She had her 1st vaccines but is due for boosters. She will use pee pads but has never been around carpet so may confuse it for pee pads. Luna's Story: We adopted Luna, a Chihuahua-Papillon mix (Chion) about three years ago. She is around 6 or 7 years old. Luna spent the first three years of her life in a cage, unsocialized, which has shaped her strong and sometimes challenging personality. Luna does have some aggression issues when meeting new people and dogs, but she adjusts once she gets to know them. She currently lives with children and does well with our family. She also shares a home with a Bouvier and a Pit Bull mix, and she has no issues with them. However, Luna cannot be in the same room as another of our dogs; they simply do not get along, and their interactions have become increasingly dangerous. We are looking for a new home where Luna can be in a calm, structured environment. She would do best with an experienced owner who is patient, understanding, and able to give her the consistent care and attention she needs. Luna is fiercely loyal and spirited. While she has her quirks, she can be a sweet companion.
