Story
Sweet Sebastian Let me tell you about Sebastian. It’s a sad tale as old as time. It starts with a young pup born into the world full of hopes and dreams, only to be used to bring more puppies into the world. He was locked in a kennel and used for a backyard breeder’s monetary gain over and over again, only to be given away without a care in the world. When you are locked in the kennel for your whole life and only taken out to do your owner's bidding, the world seems like a big and scary place. Sebastian didn’t get a chance to be a dog and when he was given away, he escaped twice from his new owners. After the second escape, an angel named Mary was able to safely trap him and deliver him to Michele's loving arms. Sebastian is one of those special dogs, one of those once in a lifetime dogs for the right person. Sebastian is an old Scottish collie. He is looking for his forever home, but it does require some stipulations; 1. He needs a 6-foot, fenced-in yard.2. He would love another dog to play with and learn how to "dog" from.3. He needs a quiet home with no children; he does not like loud noises and prefers a sedentary life.4. He does not love men; he is all about the ladies. You might ask how we could ever find a perfect home with those requirements? Well, we won’t give up until it happens. If you are a middle-aged woman, your kids have grown, and are looking for the perfect snuggle buddy, then Sebastian is for you. If you are interested in this love muffin, please apply today at michelesrescue.com! ##2051983##

Story
Meet Cooper; She is very sweet girl, who is looking for her fur-ever home. We believe she is around 3-4 years old and is a cattle dog mix. She came to us when her owner passed away and the other owner couldn’t care for her. Due to her breed or mix of breeds we are looking for a very specific home for her where she will be set up best for success! Cooper is pretty reactive towards people on leash and will nip at shins or ankles. She enjoys lots of exercise, biking right now seems to be her favorite. She’d probably do best as an only dog, as loves all the attention on her! She has had some interaction with other dogs on leash and she will correct them if their energy becomes to much for her.   Cooper also needs a kid free home.   We are requiring that her fur-ever home have heeler experience and be committed to getting her the training that she needs. Cooper will also need someone who is willing to do some training with her. **Cooper being a heeler mix does have high herding tendencies, and has a single “bite history” as she nipped someone in the calf.     An approved adoption application is required. The $200 adoption fee (payable by cash or check only) includes spay/neuter; microchip; dental teeth cleaning (if needed prior to adoption); vaccinations; and heartworm testing. Our adoption application may be found by going to: www.headinhomerescue.org; then click on the link to the adoption application. Dogs for adoption may be seen by appointment only following an approved application. Proof of completion of an obedience class is required for all dogs following adoption. Please note: while we welcome out of state applications, we do not ship our animals and require adopters to come to Holland to finalize any adoption.August 17, 2024, 9:24 am

Story
Meet Darcy and Molly: A Pair of Lifelong Friends in Need of a Loving Home Darcy, a stunning 10-year-old Great Pyrenees, and her sister Molly, a sweet Border Collie mix, have spent their entire lives together. Their world changed when their beloved owner had to enter a nursing home, leaving these two devoted companions in search of a new family. Our rescue specializes in helping terminally ill individuals find new homes for their pets, and we were honored to welcome both Darcy and Molly into our care. These two are inseparable, and we're committed to finding them a home where they can stay together, providing each other comfort and companionship through this transition. About Darcy: Darcy is a gentle giant with a heart of gold. Despite her size, she is incredibly friendly and approachable, making fast friends with everyone she meets—people of all ages, including children. Darcy is housebroken, well-mannered, and even behaved wonderfully during her veterinary visits. At her age, she knows what she likes and prefers the calm company of her sister Molly over the hustle and bustle of other dogs. About Molly: Molly may be smaller, but she looks up to Darcy for guidance and reassurance. The bond between these two is unbreakable, and Molly draws strength from Darcy’s calm demeanor. Together, they make the perfect pair, balancing each other out and providing mutual comfort. Molly's love language is licking, so you can expect to be licked on the arm, in the face, and wherever she can reach to show you how much she loves you! She makes friends fast. What They Need: We’re looking for a family that understands the special grooming needs of a Great Pyrenees and is committed to daily brushing to keep Darcy looking and feeling her best. Both girls enjoy daily walks and would thrive in a home that can offer them the love, attention, and care they deserve. Health and Wellness: Darcy and Molly have received comprehensive senior wellness care, including bloodwork, vaccinations (rabies, distemper, lepto, bordetella, and flu), and both are spayed and microchipped. They are healthy, happy, and ready to bring joy to a new family. If you’re ready to open your heart and home to this incredible duo, please reach out to us. Darcy and Molly have so much love to give and are eager to start the next chapter of their lives together—with you.
