Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Lucky came to us as an owner surrender in March 2023. He was very shy when he first came to us so we didn't place him up for adoption right away. His former owners loved him but they never really let him do "normal" dog things. Lucky had never eaten dog food or even eaten out of a dish when he came to us! Our volunteers have worked really hard with him and he's now blossomed into a fun loving dog who loves to play and has learned how to "dog". He has been vet checked, neutered, and chipped. His fee of $150 is being sponsored by one of our volunteers. Lucky is looking for a very patient and experienced home. He's still shy with new people but has learned to overcome it a lot faster. He is a mix of two very smart and active breeds, both of which are known for keeping people on their toes. Lucky exemplifies both breeds with his energy level and his sometimes frustrating enjoyment of teasing and pushing the ol' envelope. It's all in good fun for him and you can almost see him laughing. He's a goober who loves to play but will settle in for some snuggling and hugs. A FENCED YARD is required for Lucky. His leash skills aren't the greatest yet so a fence will help to keep him secure. He does require some basic training in all areas but loves to learn and makes it a fun experience. An adult only home would be best (teens are fine). He LOVES the companionship of other dogs. Cats are most likely a no for him given his breed mix. NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Applications must be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org. We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport. It's exit 180B off of I-90, right off of 218 South. We do require that potential adopters be at least 21 years old and that any resident dogs be up to date on vaccinations, heartworm testing/preventative, AND spayed or neutered.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.August 18, 2024, 7:33 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Blu is a 6 year old red heeler who came to the shelter as an owner surrender in Oct., 2021. He's a quirky and fun loving dog who lived a life without any real boundaries or training before he came to us. Because of this, it took quite a while for him to settle in and become the happy goofball that we know and love. What a personality! He has finally been fully vet checked and neutered and his fee is $125.  FENCED YARD NEEDED Blu needs a home that is experienced with herding type breeds like him. They are not a dog for all people. On the positive side Blu is intelligent, fun loving, highly trainable, and incredibly loyal. Like a lot of herding breed types he's also laser focused on what he wants and is somewhat stubborn. He likes to be kept busy and enjoys a consistent routine. He needs an adult only home and would prefer one without other animals. Teens are fine. NOT a dog for apartment living. He enjoys car rides, too, as long as the destination is not the vet's office. NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Applications can be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org. Please keep an eye on your emails after you apply. We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Lyra is about a year old and looks to be a shepherd/heeler type mix. She was found running loose, held for the LEGAL stray hold, and never claimed. She is very shy but becomes very loyal and loving companion once she's comfortable and secure. Lyra has been vet checked, spayed, chipped, and her fee is $150. Lyra has been adopted a couple of times and returned as she just hasn't been able to find the right fit yet. She is incredibly smart and learns quickly. However she does possess quite a few of the intense traits of a herding breed type dog. She is laser focused and needs both mental and physical exercise. She would love to have some type of job to do and would probably be a great candidate for agility training. She does tend to bond quite closely to one or two people and can be protective and territorial. Lyra needs an ADULT only home. She needs someone who is experience with herding breed types and their quirky personalities. She would love a home that is ready, willing, and able to continue with her training and helping her gain confidence. Lyra has done well with well mannered MALE dogs who respect her space. She does enjoy playing with other dogs once she's comfortable. Cats? Most likely a no. Cuddling is one of her favorite things. She's also in need of a home in which she won't be left alone for long hours. NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved.
