Story
Can a Collie get a break here?? Yes, we think I am a collie mix and what a handsome boy I am!! I did not look this handsome when I arrived at the rescue, but a DEDICATED foster took me in and nursed me back to health and (even though it will be hard for her), I am READY for my FUREVER HOME!!! I came from a plea at a local animal control facility- I had been attacked by three other dogs at the facility who broke into my kennel and mauled me pretty bad :( My foster mom saw the post and agreed to help, and HELP she DID!!! Even though not a medical foster, she learned ALL the things she had to do to help my body and my soul heal. My back end/sides were torn OPEN on each side, numerous bite marks and punctures and infection when she got me. I spent quite a bit of time at the rescue vet for debridement and treatment of the very serious infections and then she took me home and changed my dressings daily and then weekly and then no more dressings!! I am a very very sweet and cuddly boy. House/crate trained, great with other dogs and everyone I meet (except kitties- not a fan). I am a medium sized boy and I am ready for you!!! My ideal family will love and appreciate my survivor personality, my cuddly and happy temperament and will keep me safe from harm for as long as they are blessed to have me :) Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area, $50 temporary fuel fee will be included)

Story
Forgive me for being a negligent foster mom and allow me to introduce you to HALLIE (knows Stella). ?? This sweet 14.5 yo senior collie mix, about 55 pounds, was returned to SAAP after 6 years through no fault of her own.  What I've learned about Hallie so far:  ? Housebroken,  ? Enjoys her crate but doesn't need one, ? Loves walks & her person, ?/? Low energy: fantastic if you're looking for a dog to quietly keep you company, but not a good fit if you're looking for a companion to join you on epic adventures ?/? She is said to be good with kids but not cats, however, I have neither.  ? She was quite interested & curious when seeing a bunny hop by on our walk, so maybe no small prey in her future home would be best. ?/? May be dog selective. While she was not enthused at all to meet my 8yo male resident dog who is half her size (teeth bared by both on opposite sides of the baby gate), she was happily enamored to meet & follow my neighbor's 7/8yo male dog who is twice her size along the shared fence line. ? I'd recommend no or very minimal steps for Hallie. I have only 2 for her to climb into the house and she will struggle sometimes & is a bit stiff when rising from a nap. Likely a bit of arthritis in her legs. If Hallie sounds like she may be a good fit to live out her remaining years in the comfort of your home, please consider submitting your adoption application at AdoptAStray.com or replying to your approved app with her name.August 19, 2024, 1:45 pm

Story
Meet Travis! He’s a little old man that still has some spunk left. Travis found his way to rescue by being abandoned from his family in a parking lot. Since then he's had a full dental and a good checkup! He's  8 to 10 years old, loves walks and toys - he’s easy to entertain! Travis would gladly fetch a ball in the living room or yard, go on a walk or event run if you want (he’s a spry ole guy). And at only 25 lb he's perfect for condo or apartment life. Travis is ready for his retirement and he qualifies for our Senior Soulmate program so get your application in today! Adoption fee is $200.  All of our dogs are spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, microchipped and if over 6 months of age, heartworm tested and on heartworm preventative in their foster home. We require an approved application to meet any of our dogs. We do not have a shelter location and will not arrange a meeting without an approved application. We strive to make sure the bios provided for our dogs are complete and accurate; we do understand that mistakes happen, however, so if you absolutely cannot find the answer to your question in the dog's bio, you can contact us for more information. We require a home visit for each dog we adopt out, so we adopt within a 2 hour radius of Dayton, OH. If you are outside of this radius, we encourage you to contact your local rescue or shelter.   August 19, 2024, 10:55 pm
