Hello there! I'm Dante, a nearly 6-year-old Collie with a stunning white and brown coat and brown markings on my head. I'm a bit larger than your average Collie, weighing in at a healthy 85 pounds of pure love and loyalty. Life has thrown me some curveballs. My owner passed away, and I spent much of my time in a dog run. But now, thanks to my wonderful friends at Senior Dog Rescue of Oregon, I've had a chance to shine! They gave me the best grooming ever, and you should see my before and after photos - I look and feel like a brand new dog! I'm great with kids, cats, and other dogs, so I'd fit right into a family with other furry friends. Plus, I'm house trained, so I know how to behave indoors. I don't chew anything, but I do need some training, but nothing crazy. I need to learn the simple commands "sit, stay, and off". My foster mom is working with me and I've already gotten pretty good! I'm gentle and a little playful with the others, but haven't had a chance to learn how to play with other so I just follow along. I'm ready to leave the past behind and start a new chapter filled with love, fun, and lots of walks and belly rubs. If you're looking for a loyal, gentle, and beautiful companion, look no further. Can a Collie get a break here?? Yes, we think I am a collie mix and what a handsome boy I am!! I did not look this handsome when I arrived at the rescue, but a DEDICATED foster took me in and nursed me back to health and (even though it will be hard for her), I am READY for my FUREVER HOME!!! I came from a plea at a local animal control facility- I had been attacked by three other dogs at the facility who broke into my kennel and mauled me pretty bad :( My foster mom saw the post and agreed to help, and HELP she DID!!! Even though not a medical foster, she learned ALL the things she had to do to help my body and my soul heal. My back end/sides were torn OPEN on each side, numerous bite marks and punctures and infection when she got me. I spent quite a bit of time at the rescue vet for debridement and treatment of the very serious infections and then she took me home and changed my dressings daily and then weekly and then no more dressings!! I am a very very sweet and cuddly boy. House/crate trained, great with other dogs and everyone I meet (except kitties- not a fan). I am a medium sized boy and I am ready for you!!! My ideal family will love and appreciate my survivor personality, my cuddly and happy temperament and will keep me safe from harm for as long as they are blessed to have me :) Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area, $50 temporary fuel fee will be included)
