Story
Missy is a a 2-year old cattle dog mix. She is a sweet, timid girl looking for a patient foster or adopter. While she is comfortable with other dogs, she's still coming out of her shell when it comes to the human world and all the activity and noise that goes along with it. We are looking for a foster or adopter who is savvy with dog body language and willing to be patient with Missy's anxiety. Missy came to us from Fresno in the end of January. She was shy and fearful when she first arrived off of transport. At her first vet exam we discovered a heart murmur. A cardiac consult and echocardiogram in March found pulmonic stenosis. (https://veterinarypartner.vin.com/default.aspx?pid=19239&id=4952783) Missy's is a moderate case which causes extra pressure on the heart muscles, but is not causing any other symptoms, abnormalities or quality of life issues. At this time she's not recommended for corrective surgery (balloon valvuloplasty). A follow up echocardiogram later in the year is recommended. Missy has come out of her shell in the past few months, but is still anxious about loud noises, fast movements, vehicles and generally being out in the world. She will take treats from new people after a few minutes, but is still apprehensive of new folks. She does well with other dogs. No reactivity, aggression or resource guarding with dogs or humans. The other heelers in her foster home have helped her come out of her shell. She's started playing with toys and chewing on nylon chews recently. We've been going on decompression walks on the property where there aren't a lot of loud noises or car traffic to frighten her. She will reluctantly get in a vehicle and does better when she is crated then if she is loose or tethered. If you're interested in fostering Missy, please fill out a foster app on our website: pnwcdr.org/foster Missy is spayed, microchipped and has received age-appropriate core vaccines. Missy is being fostered in Astoria and her adoption fee is $390. If you're interested in adopting Missy, please fill out an adoption application on our website: pnwcdr.org/adopt Please note: We do not do DNA testing on all our foster dogs. The breed description may be our best guess based on the dog’s appearance, mother’s appearance, paperwork, etc. Our Adoption Process: - Adoption Application - Phone Convo - Meet & Greet - Home Visit - Application Approval - Adoption Fee & Contract Our adoption application is at pnwcdr.org/adopt Curious about fostering?
