Story
Are you looking for some joy to beat the winter blues? Well, meet Joy! This 3 year-old collie mix is sure to melt the blues away. She is 32 pounds of fun, from scampering in the backyard with her foster family's resident dogs, to sniffing on the walks she loves, to snuggling while watching football, to TRYING to climb a tree after a cocky squirrel, to showing off her balancing act by strutting on her back legs (yep--her foster family calls her the "Dancing Queen"). Joy is house-trained, spayed, microchipped, and up-to-date on all her vaccinations. Her fur almost glistens and she has  some subtle tan spots on her face. Check out those soft ears that  often tilt forward. Joy is working on getting more confident when she meets unfamiliar dogs she encounters when walking on leash. Back at home, she loves pulling dog toys from the bin and carrying them to one of her many favorite spots. Who knows--maybe Joy will be bringing an extra dose of love to your Valentine's Day. If you are interested in applying for Joy, email  almosthome4dogs@yahoo.com   (Local adoptions preferred — Philadelphia and tri-state area [South Jersey and northern Delaware] only.) PLEASE READ BEFORE CONTACTING US! We are NOT a shelter: All of our dogs live in private homes with foster families. Story
Gage is a young fluffy fella. This short king is super social and loves getting attention from everyone around him. He is very affectionate and wiggly, especially when folks are singing his praises -he just soaks it up! Gage knows sit and down as well and is very food motivated although he sometimes lacks patience and will try to steal treats from you - it's all in good fun! Eligible for rescue, foster, and adoption. Meet Gage at ACCT Philly any day of the week from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., or email foster@acctphilly.org to express interest in fostering him. Behavior notes: 01/22/2025 staff noted: A volunteer brought Gage into the office and he was so sweet! He allowed petting and solicited attention. She also noted that he seemed to be housebroken, as he relieved himself once he went outside. 01/20/2025 staff notes: KENNEL PRESENTATION: When approaching Gage in kennel he was standing near the front and had soft eyes, loose body, mid level wags. He tried to push his nose out of kennel initially but then once he realized that wouldn’t work he allowed for easy leashing and exited without any issues. LEASH SKILLS: Pulls minimally, tried to say hi to everyone he passed in the kennels HANDLING : In the room Gage was social and easy to handle. He said hi to both handlers with loose body language, mid level wags and soft eyes. He allowed full body petting without any issues and was tolerant. He was very affectionate and would give lots of wiggles when speaking to him, even rolling over for belly rubs. He showed knowledge of sit and down as well. He is very food motivated, but lacks patience and will try to steal treats from you. Otherwise took them gently. PLAY: Engaged in play TOYS Trades easily 01/19/2025 staff notes: Very sweet and friendly. Despite being injured he didn't let it stop him! He was jumping and running all around for pets. Did notice some leash biting but not aggressively. Medical notes 01/21/2025 medical staff notes: Given history of intolerance to restraint and suspected orthopedic pain, patient started on gabapentin 200 mg PO BID to be examined 1/22 or later 01/19/2025 medical staff notes: Gage is a stressed but sweet boy. He rolled over for belly rubs. He was reactive to the needle and snapped so he was muzzled. We tried again but he wasn't fond of restraint he flailed and headbutted the aca and we ended the intake process. 01/19/2025 staff notes: He would not put pressure on his back leg while running and jumping during intake. Sending him to back office to be evaluated ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in. We are open for adoptions 7 days a week. Please visit www.acctphilly.org/adopt for details. These babies were brought to us after a lady’s neighbor left the pregnant mama. She kept the mom but could not keep her babies. This is a fun group of pups! They get along with strangers, kids and other dogs. They do well in a crate, usually just go to sleep. They would do well on hikes or other outside adventures. They are in a puppy teething mode so beware of fingers!! They are in need of all basic puppy training and just loads of love! A wonderful addition to any family. She is currently being fostered in TN but we use the most animal-friendly transport on the road. Rescue Riders Pet Transport.

Story
Meet Maverick! Maverick is just a baby who is still learning what being a dog is all about and is catching on very quickly. Whether it’s cats or dogs, if it’s got fur and it moves, Maverick automatically wants to play with it. This can be frustrating for senior dogs, while younger dogs will think that it’s great. Maverick likes to play with toys but gets easily distracted by the brand new world that is waiting for him to explore. Because Maverick is still learning manners, he would fit best in a home with older children. While he does well with not jumping on his foster mom, it is possible that he could accidentally knock a smaller child down. Overall, Maverick is pretty gentle and likes to snuggle with his foster mom from time to time. His crate training is coming along nicely and he can currently go for about five hours before needing to be let out. If Maverick sounds like your dog, complete an application at https://www.saveastray.org/forms/form?formid=3635 Thank you for your interest in a Save a Stray pet. The first step is to complete an adoption application. https://www.saveastray.org/forms/form?formid=3635 Once the application is approved, a FaceTime will be set up for a virtual meet and greet. Since we are located in Mobile, AL, this will give you the opportunity to see the pet interact with other dogs, people, and see a bit of their personality. Transports leave every week alternating between the NE and the Great Lakes. We use the most animal-friendly transport on the road. Rescue Riders Pet Transport.

Meet Buddy! Breed: Collie Estimated Age: 01/11/2020 Sex: Male - neutered Weight: 53 lbs Up to date on all age-appropriate vaccinations Things to Know About Buddy: Rescued from Mississippi after his owner no longer wanted to care for him.  A loving and sweet boy - Buddy is learning how to trust people and come out of his shell. Has a friendly and sweet personality. Buddy is a low energy guy- he enjoys spending time in crate with door open or in living room of his foster home. Buddy sees his crate as his safe space and may need encouragement to come out of the crate and interact until he feels comfortable in his environment. Rides nicely in the car - may need a boost until he learns to jump into the car himself. Walks nicely on a leash. Doesn't appear to know any commands yet. Did well at his grooming appointment. Working on housetraining. Learning to alert his foster family when he needs to go out. Dog friendly and gets along well with other dogs Cat friendly  Looking for a loving and committed forever home to provide him with the care and love he deserves Learn more and apply to adopt at TLCrescuePA.com/adopt.
