Story
PK is a beautiful fun-loving 3.5 year old Husky/German Shepard. My former partner's friend had puppies and gave him one; he was not interested in caring for dogs and I ended up taking full responsibility for PK. I am hoping to rehome PK as I work a lot and it saddens me to see him unstimulated and unhappy when I am not home. Also, he is becoming too big and strong for me to keep up and give him regular walks that he deserves. PK is very energetic, so having a big space to run and/or having regular walks and play time are important. I am hoping that, eventually, PK will be adopted and find a loving home that could provide him with all the love and attention that he needs and deserves.

Story
Howdy, my name is Atilla but my foster Mum only uses that when we’re practicing name attention, otherwise everybody calls me Tilly! I’m a very handsome and super smart, 2 year old, 80lb, male Doberman. I am being fostered in Vancouver, BC. I used to have a home of my own but due to a family tragedy I had to say goodbye to my baby sister and my original Mama- I lived with my Grandma for a bit before she surrendered me to Adoptadobe and my current foster Mum. I didn’t have a lot of city dog skills but I’ve been with her for a while now and we work on it every day. Our current focuses are leash manners, socialization and recall- my foster Mum is practicing for her dog training certification so she means business! I also have a bit of "stranger danger" that we are working on, and I am starting to let a few more people into my "circle" after slow and proper introductions. I am a typical velcro Dobe. I need to be involved in everything from laundry to shower time. My foster Mum says I am a really smart dog with loads of potential for a sports home if I can work through my reactivity - my arousal in the outside world was through the roof in the city because there was a person or a dog around every corner! I am currently taking Prozac to help me with this and have made tons of progress on my reactivity towards people and things, but will need an owner who can continue the work that me and foster Mum have done. I love people and I love to play with other dogs, but I require very slow and steady intros with lots of guidance. I would prefer a home without any other pets, but I have lived with a female dog of equal size in the past. I think foster Mum must be quite clever herself because I only had to bring her the ball one time and she learned how to throw it for me!  We both agree that I need a home with someone who can give me time and attention, without small dogs, cats or young children. I require a fenced yard for those days when walks and public spaces might be too much for me. I live with two cats now but I am convinced that they’re little ghosts living in the shadows- every time I see one I bark to tell everyone it’s there and then I run to get my foster Mum, but by the time we get back the ghosts are gone- my foster Mum says she wouldn’t trust me alone with them because I get so upset when they materialize in my space.  I really am the kind of dog that loves the stimulation of learning, so I would be delighted to help you out if you have a job for me. Anything that means you and I will be spending LOTS of time together is A Okay in my books. I settle well in a designated and puppy proofed room when my foster Mum goes to work but when she gets back it’s Tilly Time! I currently can’t be crated for more than 10-15 minutes, as I start to panic after that, but we’ve found a pet camera and closed off room works well. We’re still working on crating, but it’s not our top priority right now.   At my young age there is a whole world of possibility. I am longing to find my person so we can get started on our wonderful life together.  If you're someone who wants an intelligent, eager-to-please best friend, I'm right here ready for you. My current talents include SIDLE (recall), HUSTLE (let’s go/move), THAT’LL DO (enough), GET BUSY (toilet cue), SIT (tuck sit), DOWN (folding down), FETCH (I go crazy for chuckits), TUG and of course, SNUGGLE (I don’t even need to be told that one!).   Atilla has been neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated. His adoption fee is $500. All adopters must agree not to use any punitive training methods including, but not limited to, leash corrections; pinning; alpha rolls; and prong, pinch, choke, shock, or e-collars.  Apply to adopt Atilla by submitting our adoption application at https://adoptadobe.com/adoption-application/. All adoptions require a home visit prior to finalization. Donate to Atilla’s care at https://adoptadobe.com/donate/. ##1831339##

Story
Hi! My name is Tiberius!  I am a six year old black/tan Doberman and I am a big boy!  I have lived a very hard life so far - I am covered in scars, both of my ears have old punctures or splits, and I suffered a broken rib that was never treated. I can be hand shy and am very sensitive to punishment and yelling. I have had at least four homes in my short life and would really like to find a permanent home that will commit to me for the rest of my life.   I LOVE to run and play and I am good with other dogs (including most males!). I am very active and will play rough with other dogs, jumping and pestering them to play - so I am not a good match for seniors who want to snooze all day! I am actually a good candidate for fenced-in dog parks, which can't be said for a lot of Dobes! I do need to be matched with a confident canine in the home, however, as I may tend to push around a dog who does not have the confidence to correct me when I'm being a goober. I am good with kids and I recently made a kitty friend, so I can definitely live with a dog-savvy cat! I am a VERY sweet boy who needs to be with his people. I will be your shadow and follow you around everywhere. I prefer to be touching you at all times. I do have a bit of separation anxiety which sometimes translates into urine marking when left alone (I was previously kept as an “outside” dog). I don’t pee on anything when you are home though, so don’t worry. My foster can now leave me home alone for a couple hours without incident. I am crate trained, but I am an escape artist so I need a super secure crate (no wire crates). My previous foster has worked on my crate training and I will happily sleep in it during the day when you are home. Sometimes I will cry and bark when you first leave the house, so apartment living is not suitable for me.  I am still getting used to walking on a leash and will pull very hard. My foster has found that a front lead harness or a head halter is best for preventing this. Because of my size and strength, it is important that my new owners be strong enough to handle me.  I also know basic obedience and will sit, wait, down and shake if you ask me to! I am very eager to please, I just need a dog-savvy owner to help me adjust to my new life. I would prefer an owner who will take my training beyond basic obedience. I do have a tendency to resource guard toys and my favorite person from other dogs in the home, but this is easily managed by an experienced owner who can read my body language and provide consistent routines and structure in the home. I am an extremely sweet, loving guy. Despite my flaws, everyone I meet falls in love with me! I hope i can find a home to finally settle down and decompress. With some time in a stable environment, I would likely become a super chill guy! Tiberius has been neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated. He had a holter done in late 2023 which came back clear. He does have idiopathic head tremors which are common in the breed, but harmless. His adoption fee is $500. All adopters must agree not to use any punitive training methods including, but not limited to, leash corrections; pinning; alpha rolls; and prong, pinch, choke, shock, or e-collars. Story
Beautiful husky girl Chiquita, born April 2023, is looking for a home. She is approximately 41 lbs. Her mum and littermates were often seen wandering in the area of the SPCA PV sanctuary and staff and volunteers saw them in deteriorating condition due to a diet heavy on garbage and took them in to give them the care they needed. After she got refuge in the sanctuary, she lived through a hurricane which heavily damaged the shelter, and she had temporary refuge in a home that unfortunately had a landlord that didn't allow dogs.. but in that time, she learned what a home is and what it is meant to be loved. Chiquita is an energetic girl so she’d love a yard with some space to burn off some zoomies but was in a foster home in an apartment. She loves the beach. Her foster mom just loved her, described her as a fast learner, and a great cuddler. She has learned basic commands - sit, come, waits to eat her food. She isn't destructive in the home and did well in the car. She is selective with other dogs, and can be reactive, and would squabble with her siblings. Kids make her nervous so she'd prefer a quiet adult home where she can learn more about the world. Chiquita would be best in a home without cats as she shows high prey drive. Video of Chiquita with her shelter friends: https://www.facebook.com/spcapv/videos/1401202434079126 She is now healthy and vaccinated. If you think you might be her happy home, please contact us at pvcaadoptions@gmail.com for more information. Chiquita is currently in Mexico but would love to join her forever home in Canada

Story
4 year old Trini is a shelter sweetheart, with a lovely disposition, and very popular with the volunteers, as she is a calming influence. Trini was abandoned on a road near the SPCA PV sanctuary and was lucky to be taken into care as she was malnourished, and surely tired from trying to survive. She is a mixed breed – our guess is lab shepherd cross, with a beautiful lean physique and expressive eyes. She is full grown at 41 lbs. Trini is a wise girl, who reads people and dogs well. If they seem threatening, she avoids them, but if welcoming, she approaching with kindness. Trini is also good with cats showing a similar wise approach when she was tested. She would ignore them in a non threatening way, and then explore smelling them when it felt safe. Trini is also good in the car, curious about the adventure, and she has been a shelter ambassador at a Saturday market. Trini is healthy, spayed and vaccinated and looking for a better life with a family who will love her. Trini is in care at the sanctuary in Mexico but has flight options to Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, or Seattle. This girl is a gem!
