Story
Meet Bagheera, a happy 3-year-old boy who`s on the search for his forever family! This peppy and charming pup is seeking a home that can match his enthusiasm for life. He loves to zoom around in our play yards but also settles into our office spaces with ease. He enjoys spending time with people and meeting new friends, he`s very friendly and social. He`s been working on his basic obedience with our staff and volunteers and he`s made great progress. He knows the marker word, `good` and has been doing well learning `sit` and `come`. He enjoys female dogs and with a slow introduction he will do well with cats. He`s strong so young kiddos may be a little overwhelmed by him. If you`re an active individual or family, Bagheera could be your ideal adventure partner. We think that he will enjoy swimming! He spent time in a foster home recently with a sweet girl dog and they did really well together. He enjoyed resting in a home and going out for nature walks. To meet Bagheera and welcome him into your heart and home, please fill out our online application at highsierraanimalrescue.orgBagheera`s adoption fee has been partially sponsored and is now only $85. A special thank you to his sponsor. Other dogs: yes for female dogs, selective with males at the rescue but that could be a different story at home in a less stressful environment. Cats: yes, slow intros helpfulKids: 8+ just strong, not at all aggressiveWeight: 67 poundsAge: 3 yearsFencing: required

Story
Serena, a gorgeous, loyal, and affectionate 4 ½-year-old German Shepherd, is ready to find her forever home. Serena came to us with a wagging tail and a heart full of love and we have so enjoyed getting to know her. She delights in stuffed toys, alligator chews, and stimulating games of fetch.Serena`s adoption has been sponsored thanks to the Lynch family. Serena`s adopter will not need to pay an adoption fee. Serena has a solid play-until-you-drop relationship with her foster brother and is also working on other doggie friendships. While she is unaffected by the HSAR resident cat Annie (her stuffed toys are much more important), she happily shares her space. After an unnecessary surgery (she was already spayed), Serena started to react to unfamiliar people and animals with her magnificent GSD bark, but she always remained comfortable with our staff. We`ve been exposing her to new things, people, and animals to help her become less afraid of making new friends. Bribing her with treats also helps! Her comfort levels continue to grow and expand daily, thanks to her desensitization training program.Serena is currently being fostered with our volunteer trainer, who has made great strides in discovering her true personality. She is incredibly smart, obedient, and observant. Serena knows `sit,` `down,` `paw,` `catch,` `stay,` and is learning `drop,` `wait,` `look,` `back,` and `break` (stop playing and return to the person). Her GSD-bred protect and alert ability is polished. She stays quietly in her room or crate and waits for your return. We believe continuing her desensitization training will help Serena reach her full potential. Could you be the one to help her get there?Age: 4 1/2 yearsOther dogs: Serena is a powerful and energized player who would require a friend (s) similar in size and play style.Cats: YesKids: 15+Weight: 62 poundsLeash Behavior: Walks fairly well on leash. Pulls sometimes but is responsiveIf you are interested in adopting Serena, please fill out our online application. Once your application has been reviewed and approved, we will work with you to schedule an appointment. Please do not drop in to view dogs without an appointment. All High Sierra Animal Rescue dogs are spayed or neutered, up-to-date on age-appropriate shots, micro-chipped, tested for heartworm, given heartworm preventative medication each month, and de-wormed.

Story
Meet Clover: A Tale of Transformation and Triumph Clover’s story began in a darker place, but her journey has turned into one of hope and joy! When Clover first arrived at our shelter, she was just a shell of the dog she was meant to be. Left in a kennel for far too long, she was neglected and underfed, which left her looking a lot smaller and weaker than she deserved. But that was just the beginning of her story. Little did we know that she was actually going to be one of the strongest dogs we’d had here at High Sierra Animal Rescue! With the love, care, and attention she found here, Clover began her incredible transformation. We chose the name Clover because of how lucky we were to have found her.Fast forward to today, and this once-skinny pup is now a happy, healthy, and (adorably) chunky girl who knows what it means to be loved. Clover’s round belly and soft fur show just how far she’s come. She may be a little stubborn at times (who isn’t, right?) but she’s also a bundle of joy who LOVES her playtime, especially a good game of fetch. Whether she’s chasing after a ball or snuggling with you, Clover is always eager to show off her sweet, fun-loving nature.Clover is proof that no matter where you start, you can always turn your life around. Her resilience and playful spirit will steal your heart, and she’s looking for a family that will continue to shower her with all the love she deserves. If you’re looking for a funny, affectionate, and utterly lovable companion, Clover is your girl!Adopt Clover today and be part of her new chapter. She’s ready to fill your life with love, laughter, and good luck! She knows sit, touch, come, and she knows her name. We’re working on drop/ drop it and soon we’re gonna try to practice shake. Clover`s adoption fee is sponsored! Her adopter will not need to pay an adoption fee to take her home. We are so grateful to the Oltmann`s for this donation as well as her previous foster parent. Age: 4 YearsOther Dogs: Not at this time. Clover will need time to decompress before interacting with other dogs. Cats: with supervision and training we think that she could live with cats. Kids: Yes! We think she will do well with kids and in a semi active to active home with seniors. She loved spending time with one of volunteers littles, they `had the best time with her.` Weight: 45 pounds, she`s already gained 10 pounds with us but will need to gain a couple more.Leash beh

Story
Wilma is a sweet and petite dog with a lovable personality! She`s happiest when she can explore the outdoors with someone she knows and trusts and loves to get her wiggles out. Wilma is friendly with other dogs at the rescue and while she can be a bit timid around the shelter cat, we believe she could thrive in a home with feline companions with proper introductions.Wilma enjoys meeting new people but appreciates a gentle approach. She can be shy around loud noises, so a calm and patient family is ideal. With love and understanding, Wilma will blossom into the most wonderful and cuddly companion.Wilma will be spayed on the 23rd of January and can go home after that!Age: 1 yearOther Dogs: Has been good with other shelter dogsCats: Yes. Story
Copper came to us as a tiny puppy, full of wiggles and a big smile. He`s since done a great job of growing into his more mature, obedient, loving, and charming self.Copper would do well with a similarly aged dog to match his playful energy. He should also be fed separately from other dogs which isn`t difficult to accommodate. He gets along well with dog-savvy felines. We`re not sure why he is the last one to go home of his litter. He`s bright eyed and happy tailed and ready for a new adventure. Please consider adopting this guy so he doesn`t spend any more of what`s left of his puppyhood in a shelter. He`s so deserving of a place to call his own. He`s made great improvement with the help of our staff and knows the marker word `good` as well as `sit`. He`s learning how to have patience and has improved with leash training as well as waiting at the door before leaving/entering. He`s a smart kiddo and he loves to make people happy.Other dogs: yes, with dogs with similar play style and ageCats: yes, only with dog savvy cats Kids: 8+Leash behavior: Occasionally pulls but is responsivePlease fill out our online application at highsierraanimalrescue.org to make an appointment to meet Copper! Story
This gorgeous girl has completely captured our hearts at HSAR. Emma is a young dog but has such soulful and intelligent eyes. She enjoys the company of other dogs but should be appropriately matched with a dog who is excited to play. She loves to make her people proud and blossoms when she feels comfortable. She knows a handful of commands, is friendly with other dogs, enjoyed meeting our shelter kitty, and would be a fantastic walking buddy. Emma plays ball, happily accepts treats, enjoys cuddling and being with her people, and playing with toys. We think she will do well with people of all ages given how sweet and kind she is. Emma is a bit of a talker so it would be beneficial for her to go to a home where someone would want to know of others approaching the property, that has always been a trait that I welcomed in a dog but it might not be great for an apartment setting, etc. Emma would make an excellent pal for another playful dog and a loving family.
