Story
Shadow is originally from Chariton, IA, and was adopted by myself at 10 weeks old. She has been house trained and knows basic commands, sit, come, stay, up, and is very smart and could be trained further. She loves to play fetch and going on walks. Shadow is up to date on all shots and was intended to be a long term member of this family. We have however owned cats forever and both cats are terrified of dogs and we didn't realize that until we owned a dog. We just want our cats to come out of hiding and unfortunately that means we can not be dog owners as well. Shadow has had accidents on occasion but only ever on carpet. We have hardwood in our house, but when she steps on a rug if she hasn't been out in a few hours she gets the urge to pee. She is 1.5 years old and would love a forever home with a loving family.

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
- A happy, cheerful girl who enjoys playing outside with her people - Likes making new friends and warms up to new people quickly; will make sure she gets to say hi to everyone in the room and give kisses - A good mix of cuddly and playful - Enjoys sleeping in bed with her people - Loves to learn and has great focus - especially if you have treats - so would be a lot of fun to train - Loves going on walks and does best with a harness - Appears to be potty trained, just remember any dog may take time to adjust to a new schedule and routine - Prefers to explore and do her own thing here in the shelter, but will likely open up more once she's in a home environment and has had time to decompress - Young, noisy or busy children can be too much for them (mature home recommended) - Tends to be socially awkward with other dogs and may prefer some dogs over others; would be most comfortable with a slow introduction to new dogs and may prefer to be the only dog in her new home (dog intro required)All adoptable dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and DA2PPV as appropriate for ageThe ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, and not breed label Primary Color: White Secondary Color: Brown Brindle Weight: 53.5 Age: 6yrs 3mths 2wks

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
- Very sweet boy who loves going on walks around the shelter - here's what a volunteer said about him recently: "I took Harvey on a walk today, and he did fantastic! He's a very handsome man. Super curious and definitely still has lots of energy despite being older! He's an absolute sweetheart!"- Was a super sweet guy when our staff dressed him up in reindeer antlers - he didn't mind one bit! - Knows sit, stay and lay down and was crate-trained- Previous family said he prefers a quiet environment - Does not have much tolerance for young children and really prefers that they leave him alone, so he's looking for a teens-and-up home right now- Had done well at dog parks/daycare in his previous home; may tend to avoid some other dogs if he's not feeling comfortable (dog intro recommended) - All adoptable dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and DA2PPV as appropriate for their age)The ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Spayed or Neutered,
Story
- Once she has had time to warm up and feel comfortable, she is very sweet and loves being scratched and petted - Very playful, but is happy to chill out and get some snuggles when she's done playing - Recently went on a Dog's Day Out field trip and had a great time: "She loved the woods and was a great hiking buddy. She pulled on leash sometimes, but was pretty good most of the time. She did very well with passing hikers, joggers, bicyclists and skateboarders. She was so interested in everything we passed and noticed all the sounds and birds. When I took her to the house I am staying in, she looked really relaxed and started to really pay attention to me and to connect." - Walks and treats may be great ways to bond with her; does best with a harness on walks - Smart lady who already knows sit - Young, noisy or busy children can be too much for her (mature home recommended) - Tends to be very uncomfortable around other dogs and may not want other dog friends; needs to be the only dog in her home right now - The ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not breed label. Primary Color: Brown Brindle Weight: 58.5 Age: 2yrs 5mths 0wks
