Story

A friend of mine found him abandoned at a dog park. She already had two dogs and she asked me if I would take him. I love dogs and they have been a part of most of my 67 years, but I didn’t want Bogey. I don’t say no well so I took him. I had to move and i couldn’t find a place that was good for a dog. There are other issues. Bogey is extremely energetic and needs lots of attention. I couldn’t provide the exercise and workouts he needed. I still work and I’m not home much. He is at a kennel right now and the cost is an extreme problem. Based on his chip he is about three years old.

Marley is a very loving gentle dog. We rescued him from a bad situation 2 years ago. He has never looked back. He loves kids and his little sister dog Missy, he is her guardian in all situations. He is a cuddle dog if you can believe it, he will sit forever right next to you even if you’re not petting him. He is a very fit dog with 3 acres to rom on here, and thinks all small critters are fun to chase. He is well mannered, doesn’t beg, and patient when it’s feeding time. We are only rehoming due to my health and needing to move cross country to a home that does not have room for a big dog.

Rufus is a high energy dog who is looking for a new home where he can get lots of play time and exercise! He gets along great with his foster brothers and loves to wrestle, play tug and do zoomies in the yard with his buddies. He could definitely live as an only dog, but would love a home with another active dog who could help burn off some of his energy! Rufus has had successful interactions with older children, but his energy level and love of face kisses might be overwhelming for little ones or kids who aren't comfortable with big, goofy dogs. Roofie is a smart boy who knows all of the basic commands. He has a bit of anxiety and is working hard to learn things like calmly leaving his crate after being left alone and not jumping on people. He gets better and better every day and would benefit from continued training in his new home to help him with the adjustment. His active mind and athletic ability would make him an awesome candidate for activities like agility training. This handsome doofus is such a sweetie and loves attention. He's a big boy, but he wants to be a lap dog, and he spends every night curled up in bed as close as he can to his foster mom Rufus has been diagnosed with a congenital defect called pulmonic stenosis (PS). PS is a condition in which the pulmonic valve is abnormally formed and creating an obstruction of blood flow from the right heart to the lungs. This then causes the right heart to have to work harder to push blood to the lungs, which in turn causes enlargement and thickening of the right heart. Fortunately, Rufus has had a successful surgery for this condition. It is recommended he have yearly follow up visits to monitor his heart.

A Mo-Kan application must be filled out to begin the process. Meet Suzi, a charming black and white Border Collie mix, weighing around 40 lbs. She's a true people lover, always ready for affection and cuddles. Suzi enjoys a variety of things and activities such as playing tug, soft squeaky toys, going on walks, frozen peanut butter filled kongs, hard chews, licky mats, snuffle mats, dog puzzles, soft foam dog beds (and maybe a fuzzy one for her head), belly rubs, and giving kisses. She's potty trained and kennel trained, though she'd rather be by your side. Suzi has a bit of a prey drive, so she's not suited for homes with small animals. Suzi would be best with an easy going, playful dog or fine as a solo dog. She will need proper introduction to other dogs. She's actively learning commands and tricks (sit, lie down, come, wait, here, get it, give it, leave it, place, here, spin, twirl, touch, hide, roll over, crawl and catch) and is eager to please for treats or toys. Suzi is intelligent, inquisitive, and knows when to relax. If you're seeking a Border Collie's intelligence, beauty, and loyalty without the high energy, Suzi is your ideal match. She requires a fenced yard and someone knowledgeable about her breed. She's spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, and on heartworm and flea/tick prevention. Jovie is a happy, energetic girl! Don't let her age fool you - she still has plenty of play left in her. Her ideal home will be one where she gets to be the shining star! Bring this sweetheart home today! She's also very smart and knows how to sit and shake. Her foster says "Jovie is a sweet, and affectionate girl and has no problem warming up to new people! She tends to be a benchwarmer and likes chilling but has her playful moments. She is incredibly smart, well-trained, and understands boundaries. I haven't had any issues as far as damage to personal property, leaving her alone, bathroom use, or getting into things she shouldn't. Jovie does best when she has some time outside on walks, yard time, or is provided some level of stimulation day-to-day, with toys, puzzles etc. As a shepherd mix she's excitable when on walks so until trust is earned she would do best on a harness lead. Once trust is earned both ways she recalls well, when other animals are not around. I'm unsure how Jovie would do with a cat, and a very slow introduction would be necessary. Jovie is on anti-anxiety medications and does best when they are taken regularly. She should not be in a home with other dogs and does best when other dogs are avoided on walks. Jovie is a sweetheart, enjoys cuddles, and wants to be near her people as much as possible! -- Volunteers say "I had Jovie for two dog walking shifts this week, and she did great! She was the sweetest dog, and did great with me and any other people we passed on our walks. She was reactive to other animals and needed to keep a distance from any passing dogs, but her leash walking skills were great besides that!" "Jovie and I walked around campus and hung out at home today. She is very energetic and would do best in a single dog home where she is the center of attention! Jovie did great in the car and was very excited to see people when we passed them, seemed like she just wanted to go up and say hi."
