Story
We found Max about 8 months ago starved and in poor condition. His owner was abusive and neglectful and Max was basically on his own. We began feeding him, took him to the vet to have him neutered and get his shots, and he began staying with us some. His owner gave him to us about 2 months ago and Max is now in good shape and ready for a new owner. The house we're living in has been sold and we're moving out and, unfortunately, losing our fenced yard for at least a year while we build a house and live in an RV. Max needs an experienced owner who can work with him on a few things. But he's really smart, very athletic, eager to learn and looking forward to a lifelong home with a new owner. He's leash trained, house trained, kennel trained and in fact, loves his kennel. He will still counter surf if you leave food out but we're working on that.He hasn't been around people very much and needs help with that. The good news is, you will no longer need to compost. Max will handle it!

Story
Freeway was found by one of our clients running on the freeway (hence how she got her name). She is roughly a year and a half to two years old, she is great with large dogs and especially loves the XL dogs, she does have some slight eye sight issues when it is sunny outside but this doesn't slow her down at all and is only really prevalent when its super bright outside. She can be a couch potato as well as a girl who loves to fetch with her peanut butter scented ball. Absolutely adores people and just wants to cuddle any chance that she can get. She is spayed and is up to date on shots.

Story
Benny was found running the streets in a stray dog pack in the Rio Grande Valley. When he first came here, he was fearful around men and could be a bully to new dogs, but he's come a long way since then. Once he gets to know you, he's a sweet, funny, playful dog who wants to be with you as much as possible. Benny was initially cat-aggressive, but he's been around cats for several months and has grown used to them. He mostly ignores them but sometimes chases them. He can be around cats, but should not be left alone with them. (I kennel him when we leave.) Benny gets along well with most female dogs, but he can be dominant towards male dogs. He shows some resource guarding of both food and people and seems to want to "defend" his people from other dogs. That doesn't mean he can't get along with other dogs or other male dogs, but he needs to be introduced to other dogs carefully. The same can be true for introducing him to new people---he needs some time to build trust. Someone who is willing to take time and socialize Benny with other people and animals would be a great adopter. Benny is a great dog who really wants to please. He is loving, affectionate, and playful.

Meet Gil, the charming mixed breed with the soulful eyes and kindest smile! Gil stands out at the shelter with his endearing personality and gentle nature. Walking with Gil is a delightful experience, on account of his wonderful leash manners and eagerness to please. He trots happily alongside his person with a swaggy-waggy tail and most attentive gaze. While Gil absolutely adores people of all ages, he can be selective about other animal companions and we think he would be happiest as the only pet in his new home. He is remarkably intelligent, and quickly learns new skills with ease. His treat-motivated nature adds an extra layer of fun to training sessions, as he eagerly responds to cues and patiently awaits his reward!
