Story
Gypsys DNA test results are mostly Boxer, Husky, and German Shepherd. She bounces on her front legs when she is excited or wants something (we now know that comes from the Boxer in her). Gypsy is around 5 years of age and weighs 70 pounds. Gypsy came from a bad home. She was not being fed and was severely underweight. So the people surrendered Gypsy and her puppies to animal control to avoid animal cruelty charges. We don't know why Gypsy has not been adopted yet. She is a very good girl and is the most obedient dog I have ever seen. She knows how to sit and comes when called. She is housetrained and very well behaved in the house. She likes her crate and sleeps in it with the door open. She walks well on a leash and rides well in a vehicle. Gypsy loves her toys, especially squeaky ones, and she loves playing fetch. Gypsy is active - she loves to run and play with toys and other dogs. She loves water and lays in the wading pool when it is hot, and we bet she would love snow. She gets excited about squirrels, cats, and critters on the other side of the fence. Gypsy normally does well with all dogs but gets along best with male dogs. She would also prefer a home without annoying toy dogs or puppies that get in her face. Gypsy loves human attention and is good with children. Gypsy is smart and might benefit from more obedience training from someone firm, patient, and loving. Gypsy is a sweet dog. She gets attached to her human and likes to lay under my desk when I work on the computer. Gypsy must be in the house as a loved family member. She must be walked on a leash and have a yard with a 6' fence to run and play. Gypsy spayed, tattooed, fully vaccinated (DAPPvL2, Bordatella, rabies), and microchipped. Gypsy had a light case of heartworms when we first got her. She is now heartworm-free and receives monthly heartworm and flea prevention. We would love Gypsy to have a fabulous forever home and we will consider both in-state and out-of-state applications. Her in-state adoption fee is $200. Her out-of-state adoption fee is $450 and includes the cost of ground transport by a trusted and reputable company. Gypsy can be transported almost anywhere within the continental United States. She is located in Texas and cannot be transported until after she is adopted. Please email 2manydogstx@gmail.com if you are interested in adopting this very good girl. Story
Rooster is available for in-state adoption or adoption and transport to another state. This handsome boy was found as a stray running out in the country. He is approximately 7 months old and weighs 45 pounds. He will probably weigh in the 60-pound range when fully grown. We are not sure of his breed mixture but think he may have some lab and Doberman in him. Rooster has a great personality and disposition. He loves all of the other rescue dogs, big and small. He loves people and will lie at your feet whenever he can. He loves water and the garden fountain is his favorite spot to hang out and keep cool. Rooster is a very sweet and goofy puppy. He is pretty much house-trained and runs to go outside with his buddies. He will need some leash training and would probably do better with a harness. We have no idea of how he is with cats. Rooster loves to run and play with his dog friends and toys. He may not be suitable for a home with small children because he may knock them over when running and playing. Rooster needs a fully fenced-in and secure yard. He will be a great dog for hiking or going to the dog park. He is an active boy and will run around the yard with a toy in his mouth playing tag with his buddies. He likes to be the leader and have everyone chase him. Rooster would do well either as an only dog or with other dogs. Rooster is neutered, fully vaccinated, (DAPP, Bordatella, rabies, canine influenza), and microchipped. He is receiving monthly heartworm and flea/tick preventatives. Roosters' out-of-state adoption fee includes the cost of ground transport by a reputable and trusted transport company, and he can be transported almost anywhere within the continental United States. Rooster is with our friends at Shaggy Dog Rescue and cannot be transported until after he is adopted. Please email kathy@houstonshaggydogrescue.org if you are interested in adopting this good boy. Story
Clifford the big red dog is mostly Chow. He weighs around 70 pounds and is estimated to be around 2 years old. Clifford was dumped on the side of a rural road with a litter of puppies and was rescued by good Samaritans. Clifford is a super wonderful dog. He is sweet, gentle, and good-natured. He especially loves puppies, small dogs, and gentle children. We do not know how he would do with cats. Clifford the big red dog is mostly Chow. He weighs around 70 pounds and is estimated to now be around 3 years old. Clifford is a very good boy. He is crate-trained, sits on command, and walks well on a leash. It is extremely hot here in Texas and Clifford is happy to be in his crate inside the air-conditioned house. We are working on housetraining (teaching him that just because the little dogs pee in the house does not mean that he can). Clifford could probably use other gentle obedience training. Clifford rides well in a vehicle but is a bit nervous about getting into the vehicle. He is shy with new people (especially men) and takes some time to trust. Clifford is sensitive and will hide from angry voices, rough treatment, and mean dogs. We are sure he was not treated well by whoever had him before. Clifford needs to be treated gently so he will trust you. Once he trusts you or another dog, he becomes happy and playful. Clifford deserves a wonderful home. He must be in the house as a loved member of the family. He must be walked on a leash and have a fenced yard to run and play. Clifford is neutered, fully vaccinated (DAPPvL2, Bordatella, rabies), and microchipped. Clifford has been treated for heartworms and is now heartworm-free. He receives monthly heartworm and flea prevention. We would love Clifford to have a fabulous forever home and we will consider both in-state or out-of-state applications. Clifford has a $200 in-state adoption fee. His $450 out-of-state adoption fee includes the cost of ground transport by a reputable and trusted company to the Northeast and the Pacific Northwest. Clifford can be transported after he is adopted. Please send an email to 2manydogstx@gmail.com if you are interested in adopting this wonderful boy. Story
Gunner is a male black and tan hound mix around 3 years old and weighs around 50 pounds. Gunner was rescued from a rural small-town dog pound. Gunner is a good boy. He is crate-trained and goes into his crate when told. He obeys and comes when called. He rides well in a vehicle, sits for treats, and walks on a leash. He is good about baths. He is affectionate and loves human attention and petting. He loves toys, treats, and playing with other dogs. It is very hot here in Texas, and Gunner prefers to be inside and snoozing on the couch in the air conditioning. During the heat of the day, he will go out to potty and run, and wrestle with his friends for a short time but then he is ready to come back inside to cool off. Being a hound, Gunner exhibits some typical hound behaviors. He goes ballistic over squirrels in the trees. He barks at people walking down the street and other dogs and cats he sees in the neighborhood. He will counter-surf with his partners in crime. And if I forget to secure the cabinet with the baby lock he and the other dogs will open it and raid the garbage. Gunner is a typical goofy and happy hound. Gunner is neutered, tattooed, fully vaccinated (DAPPvL2, Bordatella, rabies), and microchipped. He has been treated for heartworms. He is now heartworm-negative and receives monthly heartworm and flea prevention. Gunner is available for adoption to approved in-state and out-of-state applicants. His in-state adoption fee is $250. His out-of-state adoption fee is $450 and includes the cost of ground transport by a reputable and trusted transport company. Story
Gentry is an Australian Shepherd. We think he may be around 6 years of age and weighs almost 50 pounds (he needs to lose weight). Gentry is a good boy and well-behaved in the house. He is crate trained but does not need to be crated and we do not crate him. He will sleep in a crate with the door open. He walks well on a leash and comes when called. He loves treats and is treat-motivated. He rides well in a vehicle without restraint but does need to be lifted inside. He uses the potty pads in the house if he cannot get out when he needs to go. Gentry is a low-energy dog and spends most of the day inside lying on one of the dog beds. He goes outside to potty and explore the yard. He barks when he gets excited. Gentry will do best in a home with another adult Aussie to encourage him to play. Gentry took refuge at a home out in the country. He had multiple bites and bruises around his neck and stomach, suggesting he had probably been attacked by one or more dogs or coyotes. It has been two years and his wounds have healed, yet he still runs into the house whenever a few of the other dogs get too rowdy. Gentry is also scared of strangers and people we see on our walks. He is terrified of thunderstorms. Gentry needs a home with gentle and loving people who will help him overcome his fears and gain confidence. He is a wonderful dog that deserves a fabulous forever home. Gentry must be in the house as a loved member of the family. He must be walked on a leash and must have a secure fenced yard where he feels safe to explore and play. Gentry is neutered, fully vaccinated (DAPPvL2, Lyme, Bordatella, rabies), and microchipped. He receives monthly heartworm and flea prevention. Gentry was treated for heartworms using the slow-kill method (we are happy to explain) and he is now heartworm-free. Gentry will require periodic grooming because 1.) his tail has been completely cut off so feces collects back there and 2. he gets extremely hot in the summer and shaving helps him cool down. Gentry needs a wonderful home with people that will help him overcome his fears. We will consider both in-state and out-of-state applications. Gentry's in-state adoption fee is $200 and his $450 out-of-state adoption fee includes the cost of ground transport by a reputable and trusted company to the NE or Pacific NW. He can be transported after he is adopted. Please email 2manydogstx@gmail.com if you are interested in adopting this very sweet boy. Story
Nina and her sister Pinta were rescued from the dog pound. We believe these adorable girls are chihuahua/dachshund/pug mixes (the curly tails coming from the pug). Both girls have very soft fur. Nina has a bit of blue in one eye so there is something else in the mix. They are young, probably between one and two years of age. At 19 pounds, Nina is the larger of the two girls. Nina is very affectionate, sweet, and playful. She is a little shy but warms up quickly. She is a lapdog who loves pets and cuddles. She likes treats and will toss them around and play with them before she eats them. And we just found out that she loves snow! Nina would probably do best in a home with another small, playful dog who would be her friend and give her confidence. Nina is crate-trained but needs some more work with house and obedience training. Her new family should give her plenty of attention and playtime, take her on walks, and give her a lot of cuddles and affection. Nina must be an inside dog and a loved member of the family. She must be walked on a leash and needs a secure, fenced yard to run and play. Nina is spayed, tattooed, fully vaccinated (DAPPvL2, Bordatella, rabies), and microchipped. She is heartworm-negative and receives monthly heartworm and flea prevention. Nina is available for adoption to approved in-state and out-of-state applicants. Her in-state adoption fee is $250, and her out-of-state adoption fee is $450, which includes the cost of ground transport by a reputable and trusted transport company to the Northeast and Pacific Northwest.
