Story
Despite her timid nature caused by a difficult past, Ruby is a gentle soul just hoping for a kind, loving home. While she may be cautious around strangers or sudden movements, once she feels safe and loved, Ruby becomes a total lap dog, seeking comfort and affection. All she needs are some gentle pets. She's a gentle soul who just wants to be held and hugged on (i.e. a human thunder jacket). She’s already making progress with leash training and does best on a harness. She is dog-friendly with dogs who give her time to adjust.A patient and understanding adopter is essential for Ruby to thrive. Someone who is willing to introduce her to a kinder world and teach her that not everyone is a threat will be the perfect match. With love and patience, Ruby will continue to blossom into a sweet and confident pup.New River Animal RescueOak Hill, WV 25902(681) 220-1067support@nrhswv.com

Story
Blue came to us on 10/24/2024. He was an owner surrender. When he came to us he had gotten into a dog fight and his ear was mangled and had to have surgery. He is all better now. He has the prettiest blue eyes and is such gentle soul. We would recommend that Blue not be in a home with other dogs or cats. He does great with kids.

Story
Bridge came to us on 12/06/2024. Bridge came into the shelter with her identical twin sister, Gauley. We unfortunately don't know much of a background due to both sisters coming in as strays through animal control. Bridge is timid but once she warms up and gets to know you she is like a different dog.
