You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Apply for cats at www.carmah.org All cats are first come first serve; sorry, we cannot reserve cats.  I am Saoirse (pronounced “sur · shuh”), a gorgeous cat with a beautiful name. You will notice my fur is long and elegant; it is also silky soft. I am an older cat who is looking for a retirement home as an only pet (and older respectful children only please). Don't count me out yet, though - I am active and love to play with my toys. When I am done, I love to be petted (not towards my rear), and I like to be next to you but not necessarily held. I have a healthy appetite! I came to Carmah after my owner died; it is has taken a while to get my bearings and I am now ready for my next home.  I am 10 years old, and in great health. As the Irish say, "May your troubles be less, and your blessings be more, and nothing but happiness come through your door." May I bring you blessings and happiness? Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Kittens under six months must have a cat buddy. Adoption fees are $325 for kittens under a year, $600 per pair $250 for cats 1-11 years, $175 for cats 12+ years ----------  Carmah is an all volunteer, no-kill cat rescue group serving the Marlborough/Hudson MA area and beyond. ---------- March 11, 2025, 2:40 pm

Story
Ninja & Lightning have been inseparable for 11 years. 💜 Ninja raised Lightning as a kitten, and their bond has never wavered. From watching sunrises together to calling for each other across the house, these two have always been a team - even when their world was turned upside down. After tragically losing their owner, they were left behind - confused and heartbroken. At first, they completely shut down. But with the patient love of our staff and volunteers, they’ve slowly started to trust again. They find comfort in each other - snuggling, purring, and gently grooming one another. **Their adoption fee is fully sponsored as a pair - all they need now is someone to open their heart** - Ninja, 12 years old, is a wise and gentle soul who grew up in his previous home from kittenhood. In his previous home, family knew him as being mellow and affectionate, with a quiet, stealthy presence. He slept at the foot of the bed with Lightning, always staying close to his best friend. - Lightning, 11 years old, is the more sensitive and cautious of the pair. While he may be shy at first, once he feels safe, his affectionate side shines through. He enjoys chin rubs and bonds deeply with his trusted humans, eventually snuggling up beside them for comfort. Since arriving at the shelter, Ninja & Lightning have come so far, slowly adjusting and learning to trust again. We know they’ll continue to blossom in a home filled with love and patience. Both are on daily medication for hyperthyroidism, which they handle well. They just need a quiet, loving home to continue their journey toward trust and security. These bonded seniors have spent their entire lives together, and they deserve to stay together. Now, all they need is a family willing to give them the love and patience they deserve. Could that be you? 💜

Story
They say opposites attract and this dynamic duo is living proof! Wilbur and his best friend Toasted Marshmallow are looking for a forever home where people will be happy to meet them where they're at while also helping them blossom into the sweet social cats they want to be. Underneath a healthy amount of tortitude, Toasted Marshmallow is as warm and sweet as her namesake, loving pets, cuddles, and attention. On the other hand, Wilbur can be quite abrasive towards people at first (his bark is much worse than his non-existent bite!), but with patience and cat savvy approaches he melts into a purr machine. These two gorgeous kittens met in foster care and instantly bonded over their shared loves: chirping at birds, playing with wand toys, and outsmarting their foster mom at every turn (be warned--they WILL break into the treat bag if it's left unattended in their presence, no matter how secure/hidden you believe it to be). If you're ready for the adventure of a lifetime in helping Wilbur trust humans and a lifetime of adventures in getting to share all of your days with these devious little angels, fill out our quick pre-screen to arrange a time to meet them at their foster home in Boston: https://bit.ly/3yRGpMD

Story
Ashe, roughly 20 lbs. and Dante lived in the same house with their owners for 5 years. I believe both the husband and the wife work for the hospital. They just had a baby and the wife's mother has been helping to care for the baby. The grandmother was very upset about having to clean up all the cat hair on the floor with the baby around and demanded the couple get rid of both cats. The husband, in particular, was very upset about this but didn't want his mother in law to be upset since she is helping with child care. So, these cats were very well loved (and perhaps overfed) in a loving home together for 5 years. I hope they are doing alright and aren't too depressed about losing the only home they ever knew. Thank you for giving them a new beginning. As always before adoption, all cats are spay/neutered, tested for FeLV/FIV, given distemper and rabies vaccines if old enough, flea and dewormer treatments if necessary.

MEET WALLACE! * Needs a cat friend How handsome is this guy? Wallace was living outside and brought in from the cold by our rescue team. He`s a shy cat and we didn`t see his true personality until he moved from a cage to our colony room. There he made instant friends with the other cats in the room, and warmed up to humans while he was at it. Wallace will need a social cat friend in his new home, and a patient human to let him warm up at his own speed. Come to Dedham to meet Wallace!Wallace is currently up to date on all vaccinations, has been spayed/neutered, microchipped and seen by our vet team. For more information on this or any other animal currently residing at the Animal Rescue League of Boston, please call us at 617-426-9170. We welcome adopters from NH, RI, CT, and NY. However, we will be unable to facilitate same day adoptions due to state regulated paperwork requirements.
