Story
Hello, my name is Nightshade! I am trying my best to be a cat that would be happy in a variety of households. I have a lot to offer and I am sure to be a great companion when given the time, space and patience I need to adjust. So bring the whole family meet and see I just might be the right fit for you! Other cats can cause me stress, so I'd like to be the only cat in your home. Other cats can cause me stress, so I'd like to be the only cat in your home."Hello! My name is Nightshade. I am a domestic long hair car and was taken to HSHV as a stray. I am very playful, and I love treats. I am looking for an experienced cat-savvy person, that has time to play with me! I don't love young children and I would prefer to be your only cat." - written by a middle-grade Residency Camper

Story
Some cats who end up at HSHV cannot adapt to indoor living. They may be feral (i.e., born and raised in the wild), or under-socialized and prefer little to no human contact. Whatever the reason, we still believe these cats deserve a happy life and that they can be placed with families who value them as much as we do. Adopting a barn cat can be a mutually beneficial relationship - you will be saving the life of a healthy cat, while they will help scare off small, pesky rodents! To people who qualify, barn cat adoption is FREE.

Story
Hi my name is Shiro! I am a shy cat looking for a patient owner who is willing to give me time to adjust and open up in my new home. Once I get comfortable, I will come out of my shell and start to show more of my true personality. After all, the best things in life are worth waiting for - like a special bond with a cat who likes the calmer side of life. Shiros ideal home would be without children under 12 or any other cats as she can be quite nervous. Shiro is currently living in one of our wonderful foster homes. Adopting from foster is easy! Please email adoptions@hshv.org or call (734)662-5585 to arrange a meeting today!

Story
Make sure you let us know you saw Whiteout on Adopt-a-pet. White Out came to us as a stray so we don't know a ton about her background. She is friendly and very beautiful with her long white fur, we are surprised no one was missing her! While with us she has let us know she does NOT like other cats or dogs, so she is searching for a home where she can be your one and only kitty friend.

Story
Make sure to let us know you saw this gorgeous boy on Adopt-a-pet. Felix's mom was a stray that a good samaritan took in. With him and his siblings it was quite a few cats in the house, so he is now here looking for a home to call his own! He has longer hair so he will need some extra brushing to maintain his stunning looks. Felix was a little unsure of himself when he first got here- the shelter can be scary with all kinds of new sounds and smells but he has settled in and is showing us what a friendly boy he is!
