Story
Bubba & Bistro are best buds. They came from a multi-cat home where someone passed away. During the rescue process they always followed us around showing concern for where their friends were going. Bubba & Bisto were rescued separately a couple weeks apart and during the time apart, they each were sad and lonely. When we were able to reunite them into the same foster home, their happiness to see each other confirmed their bond and strong pairing. They are 2 peas in a pod that love snuggling together. They are extra gentle and loving, friendly, and trusting. They love people and greet you with joy. They follow you around, come to you for petting, love to be pet and scratched. Bubba looks up at you with adoring eyes, while Bisto licks your hand to give you a kiss and thank you for your attention. They are loyal, sensitive and empathetic types that will make great companions for someone. Their personalities are mellow, laid-back, quiet but not shy, well-mannered. They will make great buddies for someone who likes to chill and hang out. Bubba is the handsome black & white shorthair, a bundle of love. The brown cat is Bistro, a magnificent longhair, possibly a Mainecoon/Norwegian Forest. They are both fixed and fully vetted. About 5 years old.

Story
Charlie was found in an elementary school parking lot, too young to be away from his mother. He was taken in to a veterinarian to get checked on and made healthy before we took him in. He was smaller than the palm of our hand. Charlie has a hard time around other pets. He prefers to be a solo pet, though he has never been a solo pet. He loves to play with random items around the house. His current favorite toy is a thick rubber bracelet. Since our move in April 2024 Charlie has had a difficult time adjusting to the new smaller house where there is fewer places to hide from the other animals in the house. He is very loving to his favorite human. He takes a little time to warm up to people. It has been really difficult with Charlie since the move. He has taken to peeing in his favorite humans bed no matter what we have tried. This is very difficult because we love Charlie very much. We realize that he needs a loving home with no other animals to lead a calm and happy life.

Story
Marmalade Long Hair Orange Tabby Neutered Male Estimated Birthday: 9/10/2021 Hi, my name is Marmalade! I was found outside at my foster family's house last summer. I live with other dogs and cats in the home, but would not mind being the center of your attention as your only pet. I do my own thing and just love to sleep on the couch all day. I love my wet food meals, so this is a "must" for my new home! I do not really like to be held, or get my nails done, but I love my head scratched. I would do well with older cat-savvy children and other mellow pets with proper introductions. All current pets must be fixed and up-to-date on vaccines. Marmalade is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, tested negative for FeLV, and treated for parasites. He is FIV positive. His adoption fee is $125. Do you have room in your heart and home for this handsome boy? Please checkout this link for more info on FIV: https://resources.bestfriends.org/.../fiv-cats-faqs... Story
Mandy Patinkin was abandoned by her owner on the road outside our home. She is neutered and up to date on her shots. She would prefer to be an indoor cat and is litter box trained. She has her winter coat on in this picture as she has been living in our garage as we already have four cats. The previous owner states that she lives in a "no pet apartment" and won't take her back. Mandy Patinkin is a loving cat in search of petting and comfort.

Story
Meet Batty, a kitten with a personality as quirky as her name. Sweet, friendly, and fiercely independent! Batty's energetic and independent nature makes her a fascinating companion. She's a bit peculiar, but in the best way, always following her own agenda. Her curiosity knows no bounds, always on the prowl for a new adventure. Batty likes pets and purrs easily, but she isn't one to stop and ask for them. She will stop if she hears the treat bag shake! Batty's a big fan of treats. Batty is the purr-fect mix of playful and peculiar. This little lady may march to the beat of her own drum, but that's what makes her so special. Adopt Batty and let her bring her unique brand of joy into your life. Batty is currently in a foster home. If you are interested in meeting her, please send a message here, or email adopt@ahsem.org. Adoption fees are as follows: $155 for a single cat or kitten, $195 for a pair of cats or kittens. When adopting a cat from AHSEM the adoption includes spay or neuter surgery, age appropriate core vaccines, microchipping, combo tested (for FIV/FeLV), and basic wellness care including deworming and flea treatment. Story
Feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) is one of the most common diseases of cats around the world. Here is more info about FIV How do cats get the feline immunodeficiency virus? The most common route of infection is a deep bite wound from an FIV-positive cat to another cat. It can also be transmitted via blood, in utero and from the milk of an infected mother cat. Many FIV-positive cats and FIV-negative cats live together in the same home for years without spreading the virus to the non-infected cats. FIV is NOT able to infect any other animals or humans - it is a cat-only virus. Can FIV be treated? There are no proven treatments to rid a cat of FIV. Most FIV-positive cats handle the disease well, but it is important to concentrate on treating the secondary illnesses. Can cats with the virus have a good and long life? Yes, FIV-positive cats can live normal lives, both in quality and duration. They just need to be monitored for infections and dental issues. But if they're well cared for, they can be healthy, happy, wonderful pets. Can FIV-negative and FIV-positive cats live together? Yes, as long as the cats get along and do not fight. The risk of an FIV-positive cat spreading the virus to an FIV-negative cat can be minimized by putting both cats in separate rooms until you are confident that they will not fight with each other. If you are interested in adopting me, we strongly encourage you to fill out an adoption app beforehand. ADOPTION APPLICATION .
