Story
Barney lives in his foster home. Please contact his foster Mom at nknapp@sheltertohome.com Barney came to us with a severe wound to his face and eye. He has recovered beautifully and is ready for his furever home! He snuggles like it's his job and he's vying for a promotion. He seems to be intimidated by other cats, but warms up to them within a week or so; he loves running and playing! Barney is FIV+, which means that he is immune-compromised. FIV is only transmissible through deep bite wounds and mating. He won't be seducing the ladies and is an indoor-only cat, so the risk is minimal. **All Shelter to Home animals are fully vetted per their age. We believe in pediatric spay and neuter. All animals will be spayed or neutered, tested for FIV/FeLV or heartworm, given age-appropriate boosters and rabies, dewormed, flea treated, and anything extra that is needed to give this animal a wonderful forever life in a permanent home. Adoption fees are usually $50 for cats and between $150-$250 for dogs, unless the pet is sponsored or we are running a promotion. Story
ELISE is a very special cat... She was picked up as part of a police intervention on a situation that was quickly becoming out of control. We met Elise as she was helping one of her sisters care for her litter of kittens. Her sister (Imogen) was trying her best with the kittens while she herself suffered from a broken leg. Local nonprofit group Pound Pals Downriver stepped up to assist all of the cats picked up from that location. Thank you PPD! ELISE loves to cuddle in her fluffy bed, though she is most content in a quiet environment with calm people. She's a quiet cat who doesn't care for a lot of chaos. * AGE: about 1 year old * TEMPERAMENT: calm * Why are they at the shelter? found homeless * Any Health issues? None known * How are they with other cats? Dogs? gets along well with other animals * Volunteer Comments? "ELISE is such a good cat!" Thank you for your interest in adopting a shelter cat! Meet Lizzie: This beautiful green eyed fluffy girl was trying to survive outside when she was brought into the shelter very pregnant. She delivered shortly afterwards and has been a wonderful mama to her 5 kittens. She has made sure they are healthy and happy and now she is ready to find her forever home! She is a very friendly girl who likes to be held and brushed. She will definitely need a family that is committed to keeping her gorgeous fluffiness brushed to prevent matting. The vet estimates her age at less than 5 and her playfulness reinforces that estimate. She will make a wonderful companion!**All Shelter to Home animals are fully vetted per their age. Story
7/2/2024 SPECIAL NEEDS Dan is our resident Lion at the Pet Adoption Center. He is a 2 year old, long haired, orange tabby. His eyes will melt your heart and purrs when being petted or combed. Dan enjoys hunting and chasing wand toys to show off his acrobatic skills. He loves attention and will climb on your lap to get it. Plus, he is a curious kitty and likes to explore new areas. However, Dan can get overstimulated from other cats and become dominate with them. Also, when he has had enough play time or randomly, he is known to nip at others when he gets too excited. Dan has started Fluoxetine/Prozac medication, 5mg once a day, in late May and has been doing much better. This medication is used to treat anxiety & bullying in cats that leads to nipping behavior. We also use feather toys to redirect this behavior. He would do better at a home with less stimulation and a quiet setting with no other cats. Dan would need someone who can take the needed extra time and understanding to continue working with him and administer the daily medication. Please give this handsome boy a chance to see if he is meant to be your furever companion. **All Shelter to Home animals are fully vetted per their age. We believe in pediatric spay and neuter. Story
Imogen was found when animal control was called to help with an outdoor cat situation that got out of control. None of the cats had been fixed. Imogen had noticeable trouble using one leg, holding it against her body. She walked right up to the rescue staff to greet them, then slowly limped away looking at them to follow. She led them to her babies. Then trusted them to help her family. That included her kittens, her own sisters and brothers and her. Her leg was not salvageable, her doctor believing Imogen sustained a blow hard enough to break the leg in two places. Local nonprofit Pound Pals Downriver funded the cost of her leg removal when her doctor said it would cause her nothing but more pain. She took perfect care of her kittens, despite the excruciating pain she must have felt. Despite everything, Imogen is the most kind cat she could possibly be. * AGE: About 5 years old * TEMPERAMENT: A perfect cat * Why are they at the shelter? Rescued from a hoarding situation * Any Health issues? None known * How are they with other cats? Dogs? gets along well with other animals * Volunteer Comments? "Imogen is a perfect cat. Story
Moki was found at 5 weeks old in a dumpster and i have had him since! (5 years now) Moki began having aggression towards other cats in the home at 2 years old. He needs to be the only cat in the house. He does get sassy sometimes but he makes it known lol. I firmly believe that Moki would thrive with no other cats. He is king of the castle. He loves watching birds on his 20” TV (lol) He loves feathered toys and sometimes joins me in the bath, as long as the water doesn’t touch him. Lol. He is a good boy in need of a no cat zone house!!!

Hello, let me introduce to my friend Kash, a Domestic Long hair. First and foremost, I wish I could keep my friend but unfortunately we have to re-home him due to our crazy schedule and he has not adjusted well to our new home.He is a playful energetic 7 year old Male. He is shy at first with other cats but has never had a problem with them once he's used to them. Kash loves being babied, he has no problems with being a cuddle bug and a snuggler. He is not good with Dogs, Great with kids, and doesn't mind being held. I need to find him a safe new home. At the moment our household is a little to hectic and I would really like to see this sweet boy a home he deserves. With lots of attention and love
