Story
Meet Spice! He is a shy boy who is going to need someone with patience and love to let him open up at his own pace. His previous owners describe him as friendly, affectionate, and always hungry. He has experience with other cats but no dog or children were in his previous home. Spice now is hanging out in foster waiting for his next home! He is doing fantastic and is much more relaxed now that he is in a home again. He's loves lounging on his special office chair and hanging out with his foster parents in the living room. Spice is a chill cat looking for the right person, maybe it is you? Change is hard for this cat. This cat will be very nervous when you first bring them home. You will need to set up a room with a litter box, food, and water. It will take days for this cat to become comfortable and confident in the new home. This cat will be going home with a behavior plan that will need to be followed in order for everyone to transition successfully. If you're ready to adopt now: Come on in during open adoption hours Tuesday - Saturday 12:30-3:00! For in-shelter pets (not in foster care) You can also: Call us (413-781-4000 x 1) or email us (springfield@dakinhumane.org) for more information about a pet, to adopt sight unseen or to place a 24 hour hold on a pet. We are often on the line with another client, but we return voice mail and emails within 24 hours. All cat adoption fees include; -spay/neuter -rabies vaccine -current distemper vaccines (may need additional boosters with your veterinarian) -FeLV/FIV blood test -microchip implanted & registered to the adopter -treatment of fleas/ticks/ear mites -veterinary exam and health certificate at Dakin -free vet exam within 30 days after adoption with participating veterinarians Most pets have also received other medical care while with us. Your veterinarian may recommend additional health care for your new pet.

Story
If you're a soft touch when it comes to orange kitties, then today could be your lucky day! Lucky came to Dakin as a stray with his buddy Charm. The person who brought them here told us that these two kitties were found together in the hallway of her apartment building. She checked with the neighbors, but no one claimed these cuties. Most likely they were left behind when someone moved away. Now Lucky is looking for a place to park his cute little paws. Maybe it's your place! And if you're thinking about adopting another kitty, Lucky and Charm would make one dynamic duo! Change is hard for this cat. This cat will be very nervous when you first bring them home. You will need to set up a room with a litter box, food, and water. It will take days for this cat to become comfortable and confident in the new home. Story
Bo Peep has come a long way from her early days as a nervous little stray. Thanks to her loving foster home, she's been growing, learning, and discovering just how great people can be! This adorable kitten started off a bit hissy and unsure, but with time and patience, she's blossomed into a playful and curious little one who is now ready to find her next home. She's ready to venture off and bond with her own special humans! Bo Peep will do best in a patient home that understands she may need a little time to warm up A “Tiny Spirit Kitten” is a feral or extremely shy kitten that has had no socialization with people in their first few months of life. These kittens will vary in terms of becoming social in their new homes; some may become very sweet and outgoing, while others may only ever trust you and no one else. They will all take patience, dedication and hard work to help them adjust into home life. Confinement to a single small room with a litter box, food, and water is a must. They do well in a home with other animals and, depending on the kitten, may even do well with children. They will go home with specific instructions that will need to be followed in order for everyone to have a successful transition.
