Story
Cali is a sweet and beautiful 5-year-old tortie who has been through significant changes lately and would love a Forever Home. She is affectionate and loves to be pet. Though it takes her a few days to warm up, she bonds strongly with her special person. She would do best in a calm home with no other pets but would probably be fine with a calm dog or cat. She is perfect for someone who is looking for a feline companion to snuggle with while watching tv or reading in the evenings.

Story
Tonks is a stunning tortoiseshell beauty with a personality as colorful as her coat. After spending some time in foster care, she’s ready to find her next home. Tonk’s previous owners rave about her snuggly nature. She’s happiest curled up in your arms, where she’ll drift off to sleep while soaking up your love. She’s also a playful girl with a unique quirk: she loves water! Whether it’s splashing around or just observing, Tonks finds water endlessly entertaining. In her foster home, Tonks is talkative, loves head boops, and enjoys making her presence known. If you have other cats, she’ll fit right in—Tonks loves playing with her feline friends and will thrive in a home with a companion after a slow introduction. Please call or email us today if you are interested! This cat has specific litterbox needs. When you bring this cat home they will need to be set up in a room by themselves. This cat will go home with a behavior plan that you will need to follow in order for them to use the litterbox reliably. If you're ready to adopt now and want to learn more about, meet, or adopt this pet, you can start the process in one of two ways: Come on in during open adoption hours Tuesday - Saturday 12:30-3:00! For in-shelter pets (not in foster care) coming in ASAP is the fastest way to adopt. **the below two methods are slower than visiting us** Call us (413-781-4000 x 1) or email us (springfield@dakinhumane.org) for more information about a pet. We are often on the line with another client, but we return voice mail and emails within 24 hours. All cat adoption fees include; -spay/neuter -rabies vaccine -current distemper vaccines (may need additional boosters with your veterinarian) -FeLV/FIV blood test -microchip implanted & registered to the adopter -treatment of fleas/ticks/ear mites -veterinary exam and health certificate at Dakin -free vet exam within 30 days after adoption with participating veterinarians Most pets have also received other medical care while with us. Your veterinarian may recommend additional health care for your new pet.

Story
Meet Sylvester! This mini cow is a shy boy that will need a lot of patience to trust you. Once he does, he will want unlimited pets, attention, and cozy spots to sleep. He is the jealous type, too. If he sees you petting another cat, he will come up for pets or even gently nudge the other cat out of the way. If you're interested in a pair, Sylvester was brought in with is buddy Bruce. Change is hard for this cat. This cat will be very nervous when you first bring them home. You will need to set up a room with a litter box, food, and water. It will take days for this cat to become comfortable and confident in the new home. This cat will be going home with a behavior plan that will need to be followed in order for everyone to transition successfully. If you're ready to adopt now and want to learn more about, meet, or adopt this pet, you can start the process in one of two ways: Come on in during open adoption hours Tuesday - Saturday 12:30-3:00! Story
Meet Luna! She is a shy little girl who will need time to adjust to a new home. Once she's comfortable she is playful, and enjoys cuddling. She does have experience with another cat but we still recommend a slow introduction to any new furry friends. If you're looking to adopt a pair, Luna was brought to us with her sister Rosie. If you're ready to adopt now and want to learn more about, meet, or adopt this pet, you can start the process in one of three ways: Come on in during open adoption hours Tuesday - Saturday 12:30-3:00! Story
Don't let her name fool you, Sassy may be a little bit of a diva at points but she is a doll once she gets to know her people! Sassy likes to be more of a roommate in her home, she likes to come out and get attention when she wants or when you are offering food because she cannot resist that. Sassy ahs lived with children but would prefer living with older kids this time or kids who understand her and her requests better. Sassy ahs lived with another cat in her previous home and would likely do well living with another again as long as the proper introduction is set in place to make everybody as comfortable as possible. Sassy would love to meet you and, hopefully, come home with you soon! Do you want to make a difference in a special kitty’s life? Consider adopting one of Dakin’s “Spirit Cats.” These cats are fearful of people and don’t require a lot of attention. What they do need is a place to park their paws in a quiet home where they’ll be loved just the way they are. One day, you may find that you’ve earned their trust and get head butts and maybe even a bedtime buddy. But there are no guarantees. Your visitors will never see them because they’ll quietly slip away and disappear into a closet. Spirit Cats may enjoy being around their own kind and sometimes make great companions for other cats. Are you ready to make a difference in a special kitty’s life? Story
Bean is a special guy with a big personality. He is social, smart, affectionate and handsome. Unfortunately , while blessed with personality, he was not blessed with great health. He needs regular echocardiograms to monitor his heart murmur and has had a tumor removed from his tail. He needs to eat prescription food otherwise he gets dry, itchy skin. He is a bonded pair with Sprout. I will not rehome them separately. Sprout is bonded with Bean. They were found in an abandoned apartment together where Bean protected Sprout from any outsiders. Sprout is much more quiet and independent than Bean but still loves to show affection by cuddling and snuggling. She loves to be brushed and pet. If you have mice in your house - she’s your girl!
