Story
Meet Spice! He is a shy boy who is going to need someone with patience and love to let him open up at his own pace. His previous owners describe him as friendly, affectionate, and always hungry. He has experience with other cats but no dog or children were in his previous home. Spice now is hanging out in foster waiting for his next home! He is doing fantastic and is much more relaxed now that he is in a home again. He's loves lounging on his special office chair and hanging out with his foster parents in the living room. Spice is a chill cat looking for the right person, maybe it is you? Change is hard for this cat. This cat will be very nervous when you first bring them home. You will need to set up a room with a litter box, food, and water. It will take days for this cat to become comfortable and confident in the new home. This cat will be going home with a behavior plan that will need to be followed in order for everyone to transition successfully. If you're ready to adopt now: Come on in during open adoption hours Tuesday - Saturday 12:30-3:00! For in-shelter pets (not in foster care) You can also: Call us (413-781-4000 x 1) or email us (springfield@dakinhumane.org) for more information about a pet, to adopt sight unseen or to place a 24 hour hold on a pet. We are often on the line with another client, but we return voice mail and emails within 24 hours. All cat adoption fees include; -spay/neuter -rabies vaccine -current distemper vaccines (may need additional boosters with your veterinarian) -FeLV/FIV blood test -microchip implanted & registered to the adopter -treatment of fleas/ticks/ear mites -veterinary exam and health certificate at Dakin -free vet exam within 30 days after adoption with participating veterinarians Most pets have also received other medical care while with us. Your veterinarian may recommend additional health care for your new pet.

Story
If you're a soft touch when it comes to orange kitties, then today could be your lucky day! Lucky came to Dakin as a stray with his buddy Charm. The person who brought them here told us that these two kitties were found together in the hallway of her apartment building. She checked with the neighbors, but no one claimed these cuties. Most likely they were left behind when someone moved away. Now Lucky is looking for a place to park his cute little paws. Maybe it's your place! And if you're thinking about adopting another kitty, Lucky and Charm would make one dynamic duo! Story
Meet Nala Moon! Described as a certified couch potato, she spends her days loafed up on her favorite blanket by the window, watching the world go by—especially the birds! After relaxing, she is all about play and loves wand toys with feathers! When she wants attention, she will flop on the ground, showing her belly and wiggling around with her hind legs in the air and her front paws tucked in cutely. You never know when she may pop in on you. When her foster mom cozied up in a blanket in front of the TV, Nala Moon dug around the blanket until she was inside with her, and they snuggled together. And then there was the time she crawled inside her foster's oversized hoodie while she was wearing it! At night, she’ll happily lay in bed with you, keeping you company without being overly clingy. While she loves head pets, she prefers them in moderation—she’ll let you know with a little hiss if you overdo it. Nala Moon does better with older children who understand her boundaries and has lived well with another cat. If you’re looking for a chill companion who enjoys the simple pleasures of life, Nala Moon might be the perfect match. Sassy cats are usually confident, intelligent and active. They often don’t like to be held, or have places on their bodies that they prefer not to be touched. When handled or petted in ways they do not prefer, they are likely to swat, nip or bite. They will be happiest in adult only homes or those with older kids who understand cats that have rules and will leave them alone. If they are bored then they may get into trouble and often need extra playtime in order to be their best selves. Sassy cats will go home with a behavior plan that will need to be followed in order for EVERYONE in the home to be happy. Typically, sassy cats are not for first-time cat owners. Check out the video included to learn more from our friend Jackson Galaxy about living peacefully with sassy cats! Story
Bo Peep has come a long way from her early days as a nervous little stray. Thanks to her loving foster home, she's been growing, learning, and discovering just how great people can be! This adorable kitten started off a bit hissy and unsure, but with time and patience, she's blossomed into a playful and curious little one who is now ready to find her next home. She's ready to venture off and bond with her own special humans! Bo Peep will do best in a patient home that understands she may need a little time to warm up A “Tiny Spirit Kitten” is a feral or extremely shy kitten that has had no socialization with people in their first few months of life. These kittens will vary in terms of becoming social in their new homes; some may become very sweet and outgoing, while others may only ever trust you and no one else. They will all take patience, dedication and hard work to help them adjust into home life. Confinement to a single small room with a litter box, food, and water is a must. They do well in a home with other animals and, depending on the kitten, may even do well with children. They will go home with specific instructions that will need to be followed in order for everyone to have a successful transition. Want to see what the process would look like if you take one of these kitties home? Check out the Kitten Lady’s video by clicking on the video link, up with the photos above! If you're ready to adopt now come on in during open adoption hours Tuesday - Saturday 12:30-3:00pm. This is for in-shelter pets (not in foster care). Check out the video (above, with the pictures) for top tips on how to bring a kitten like this home with you and integrate them into your home! Hello, my cat's name is Lucas. He is 10 years old. I am rehoming him because I have developed an allergic reaction to him and I have tried medications for myself and medications for him as well to no Avail. So I'm looking to have him rehomed. He's a lovely cat, very friendly. Does well with children and with other cats and dogs. He's very, very lovable and likes to be held a lot....and i mean A LOT. He's healthy and enjoys indoor and outdoor living.

Story
Meet Velvet, a 7-month-old kitten with the softest fur and the sweetest heart.  Velvet may be a little shy at first, but once he warms up, he absolutely loves gentle pets and affection.  While dogs aren't his favorite, he will tolerate with if they stay out of his personal space.  Velvet gets along wonderfully with other cats and would thrive in a home with a feline friend. Fully vetted and microchipped, Velvet is ready to find his forever hoje where he can feel safe, loved, and adored.  Could you be the one to give this gentle soul a chance to shine? ##2283525##

Story
anda and Louie are a bonded pair and absolutely have to stay together!  They are inseparable and codependent.  If one leaves the room, the other cries and they run back to each other.  They're very sweet loving boys.  They are very shy.  They love to be held and pet but on their terms.  They must come to you for love and pets.  It will take them time to warm up to their new family.  They never knew kindness from humans until their foster family rescued them.  This duo's perfect person will be patient and empathetic to their past trauma.  Once they trust you, they will love you forever!  They love other cats but do not like dogs. ##2304515##
