Story
Hello there, my name is Acorn. I came to the shelter after I was found outside, all on my own, as a stray. I am actually a senior cat, but I hope you won`t let that deter you from learning more about me. Some people see an older senior cat, and instead of falling head over heels in love, they sometimes move along and look for a younger feline friend. But if you were to pass me up, you would really be missing out. Here is what the staff have learned about me in my short time here at the shelter:`When Acorn first arrived, we weren`t quite sure what we were getting ourselves into. He is a very large cat, his one adorable ear is already ear tipped, and he had a little bit of a grumpy face. Once he got to his cage, it was hard to see him laying all curled up to the very back, looking very nervous and fearful of us. We gave him a little bit of time to settle in, and then we just wanted to know more about this handsome boy! We discovered that while he looked very scared and as if he wanted nothing to do with us, with just a few soft words and a gentle hand, we found him to be an affectionate and overly sweet cat. He leans in for pets and has a wonderful purr. He really is just a big love-bug. If you`re looking for someone gentle, soft-spoken, and loving, Acorn is definitely the one for you. `*Acorn is currently Foster to Adopt while we help him with a dental, come meet his fella today!*The Adoption Fee Includes:- initial feline distemper combination vaccination- first deworming or stool check- rabies vaccination (for animals over 3 months of age)- 24 Petwatch microchipping- flea treatment/preventative- spaying or neuteringAdoption Cost: $75.00FELV/FIV Testing provided for an additional fee of $35.00. Hello! I am Baby! I am here for adoption with Momma! We are two peas in a pod and very attached to one another, so we are asking we get adopted together! We love to curl up and nap together, one big fluffy pile of love. We enjoy lots pets, naps, and snackin` on treats. We are quiet and pretty laid back; we would enjoy a calm home, no kids to disturb our zen lifestyle, and prefer a home where we can be the only two kitties. We are actually sisters (not mom and daughter) and would love to add peace and cuddles to your life. Come meet us today! Hello! I am Eddie! I am oh so cute and ready for a forever home! I am a shy fella, but sweet and lovey too. I prefer a home without other cats, as they tend to make me grumpy. When it is just me and you? I couldn`t be happier! I am quiet and would love a home with teens or adults, as little kids make me nervous. I would be an excellent listener when you`re having a bad day, I`ll cheer you up with my sweet attitude, and I`ll always be there when you need a friend. Come meet me today! The Adoption Fee Includes:- initial feline distemper combination vaccination- first deworming or stool check- rabies vaccination (for animals over 3 months of age)- 24 Petwatch microchipping- flea treatment/preventative- spaying or neuteringAdoption Cost: $75.00FELV/FIV Testing provided for an additional fee of $35.00. Say a big welcome to Wonder! Wonder came to Animal Friends through our Humane Investigations Department. Wonder can a be a little shy so he has been spending time in a foster home where his true personality is starting to show more and more every day. Wonder's foster reports that he is now becoming very playful and often gets the zoomies when playing with his favorite toys. Wonder has also begun soliciting and enjoying attention more, which is a huge improvement! He also enjoys feeding time where he's learned to become very vocal, making sure his presence is known! Wonder needs a calm, adult only home where he would be the only pet in the household. Wonder will need some extra time and patience so that he can adjust at his own pace. Can you imagine how WONDERFUL your life would be with him a part of it? Wonder is one of our Extra Loved residents. Although all of our resident animals get plenty of love, many of them come from backgrounds that require them to need a little extra. Extra care. Extra attention. Extra patience. They've certainly been extra loved here! If you have room in your heart and your home to give one of our special animals, check with our Adoption team to learn about our Extra Loved program and if there is any additional support we may be able to offer alongside your adoption! Fill out an application --> ThinkingOutsideTheCage.org All of our animals are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on vaccines and microchipped!

Story
Meet Rutabaga! This handsome 1 year old guy came to Animal Friends from our Humane Investigations Team for having too many cats within the home. Since being here at AF we noticed him wobbling everywhere he walked so after some testing our medical team diagnosed Rutabaga with Myotonia Congenita - which is a hereditary neuromuscular disorder characterized by persistent contraction, particularly during muscle movement. Because of this Rutabaga is looking for a home where they will be able to monitor him and give him the assistance he needs with using a litterbox, eating/drinking, and day to day activities. His diagnosis however has not stopped him from being an absolute sweetheart who loves people and could potentially live with other cats. If you're interested in taking Rutabaga home as a Hospice Adoption, please reach out to us as the Adoption Department to learn what steps to take! This animal currently resides in one of our amazing foster homes, so we would love to schedule an appointment for you to meet them at a time when our dedicated foster parent can bring them in. Rutabaga's foster mom says he is an absolute delight, and is a very friendly and playful guy. He is currently living with one of our other wobbly veggie cats, Fennel, and while he does not have to go home with Fennel, they are welcome to be adopted together. Rutabaga is also one of Yana's Special Felines which means his requested adoption donation has been underwritten and he will be sent home with an individualized starter kit of supplies and other support based on his unique needs. Fill out an application -> Thinkingoutsidethecage.org All of our animals are altered, microchipped and up to date on vaccines before being made available for adoption.

Meet Millie and Mischief! These two bonded ladies came to Animal Friends as part of a Humane Investigations rescue of 25 cats. They're looking for a quiet and patient home together where they can start to feel comfortable in their new surroundings at their own pace. Both Millie and Mischief started out fearful, but from the help of our staff and volunteers, they've both started to come out of their shells a little bit. They would enjoy bonding with their new family through play and especially tuna and delicious treats to encourage their progress. Millie & Mischief are also two of Yana's "Special" Felines which means their requested adoption donation has been underwritten and they will be sent home with an individualized starter kit of supplies and other support based on their unique needs.
