Story
Male - 5 years - 40 lbs - Microchipped - Neutered - NYHi, I’m Ricardo. I’m a 5-year-old, 40 lb neutered male. I am already housetrained and crate-trained. I use my crate as a safe space mostly; I do not need to be shut in my crate when I am left home alone. I have coexisted well with adults, with a preference for women, though I am very shy and don’t seek much interaction. I will accept calm affection from my foster mom. Most of the time I am happy to people watch from afar. I will need someone willing to be patient as I come around to them and my surroundings in my new home; I had had no or minimal human contact prior to coming to Echo Dogs so this human world is all new to me and I have been trying hard to learn! I love having the company of other dogs and will require at least one confident canine companion to help guide me. I am wonderful about adjusting my play style to match that of the dog I am playing with and all around have good canine social skills. I am also gentle around cats and wouldn’t mind having feline siblings. I have been learning about these things called toys and they’re pretty fun! I especially like the plushy toys and benebones. I have been working hard on leash skills and can now join on quiet outings! I may get nervous at times and need gentle encouragement. I am still pretty uncomfortable with car rides so that is also a work in progress. I have learned to reliably come to my foster mom when she calls me. I currently take clomicalm to help me manage my anxiety. I am a gentle-natured boy who is ready to find a patient human ready to help me continue navigating this human world—could you be my human(s)? Story
Male - 10 months - 52 lbs - Microchipped - Neutered - VAHi there! My name is Silver and I am a 10-month-old, 52 lb neutered male. I am already housetrained and crate-trained. I am still young so I need to be crated when I am unsupervised. I love people! I have met both men and women with enthusiasm. I love to crawl into your lap for affection and will give hugs. I would love a home where I can spend plenty of time with my family and be involved in activities. I am happy to welcome visitors to our home. I can be pushy with other dogs and am selective about my canine friends. I have shown resource guarding of food / chew items towards other animals and barrier reactivity towards unknown dogs, which is something to be aware of. I would do best as an only dog or with a socially adept female dog. I have a strong prey drive so cannot go to a home with cats. I love toys—anything I can chew on will work! I would be happy to play fetch with you. I would love to have a yard where I can run! I am an intelligent boy who would love to find a family willing and able to dedicate time to continuing my training! I have learned sit and come with my foster family. I walk fairly well on leash and only pull slightly. I unfortunately get sick on car rides so they aren’t the most enjoyable for me. I am  a happy, loving boy who would love to find my perfect adoptive family? Could that be with you? Story
Female - 16 months - 45 lbs - Microchipped - Spayed - MAHello! My name is Willoughby and I am a 16-month-old, 45 lb spayed female. I am already housetrained and crate-trained. I am currently crated when left home alone at my foster home. I have done well with men, women, and older children after proper introductions. I can be standoffish initially until I know you better, then I enjoy receiving affection. I enjoy spending time with my family. I have done well meeting other dogs and wouldn’t mind having a playful sibling or two. I love to play with toys and am not picky about what kind! I cannot go to a home with cats. I HAVE SPECIAL NEEDS: I had a cardiology workup due to a detected grade II—III heart murmur. I was diagnosed with cardiomegaly, valvular dysplasia, and left ventricular hypertrophy & aortic dilation. Some of these may be normal variations. My cardiologist stated no restrictions or medications are indicated at this time, but I will require yearly echocardiograms with a cardiologist to monitor my heart health throughout my life. I enjoy car rides and getting out with my humans! I would love to find a family willing to spend time training with me so that I can join you on adventures. I only pull slightly on leash, though I am still learning how to calmly pass other dogs when out and about. I would love to find my perfect adoptive family—is that with you? Story
Male - 5 years - 96 lbs - Microchipped - Neutered - OHHello! My name is Otis and I am a 5-year-old, 96 lb neutered male. I am already housetrained. I have been crated in the past without issue, though I am not currently crated at my foster home and do well. I am a gentle giant who gets along with everyone I meet: men, women, and children. I seek affection and love a good snuggle. I will follow my family around as I love to be at your side. I am happy to welcome visitors to our home. I do well with other dogs and could live with a sibling or by myself. I enjoy toys and would love to have the space to play fetch with you! I like balls, ropes, and stuffies! I have a strong prey drive so I cannot go to a home with cats. I like tagging along for car rides and know to walk on a loose leash. I will pull when we see a squirrel on  walks which is something to be aware of since I am a large boy. I know several commands including sit, down, come, and leave it. My foster parents say I am a really good boy! I would love to find a family who will love me as much as I do them. Are you my family? Story
Female - 3 years - 50 lbs - Microchipped - Spayed - DEHi! My name is Vaquita and I am a 3-year-old, 50 lb spayed female. I am already housetrained and crate-trained. I no longer need to be crated when left home alone, though I need to have a crate available to me  as a safe space when I get anxious. I have done well meeting men, women, and older children. I love being pet and snuggling up with my family—often involving me laying upside down on the couch! I will immediately seek affection from anyone I meet when we are at home; if I am on a leash away from home I need more proper introductions.  I am reactive towards other animals and have shown aggression in interactions. I am currently working with a trainer to improve my coping skills around other animals, but I will need to be the only animal in my home. I absolutely adore toys and can often be found holding a stuffy! Ropes for tug or a ball are my favorite! I ride well in the car. My leash skills are a work in progress as I learn not to pull and how to engage with my handler even when there are distractions. I have already learned sit, come, and roll over. I will need a handler committed to continuing my training and providing adequate physical exercise. Could you be my family? Story
Female - 4 years - 75 lbs - Microchipped - Spayed - PAHi! My name is Sur and I am a 4-year-old, 75 lb spayed female. I am already housetrained and crate-trained. I am currently crated when left home alone. I don’t necessarily need to be crated, though I can be an escape artist when I want to be so I should be crated when alone until I am settled into my home. I also use my crate as a safe space when I become overwhelmed so appreciate having it available. I am skittish with new people and take a long time to warm up. I am starting to seek interaction with my foster family and am a sweet girl. I am hand-shy and still learning that there’s no need to fear moving hands or other quick movements. I will retreat to my crate when we have visitors. I have done well with other female dogs, and have disliked the male dogs I have met. So if there is another dog in my home, they should be a female. I may benefit from an outgoing, well-adjusted female dog in my home. I have a stuffless skunk toy that I like to play with, or I will also accept a Kong or pig ear to chew on! I am remarkably unfazed by cats and wouldn’t mind cats being in my home. My foster family has been spending time building my engagement and trust so I will have the foundations to continue my training with my adoptive family. I have also learned sit, leave it, and how to walk nicely on leash. If I am startled on a walk, I will flatten to the ground until I feel the perceived threat has gone away. I have been doing well in the car as of late, but should mention I got carsick a couple times early on with my foster family. I am a sweet girl looking for a patient family—could that be with you?
