This sweet and intelligent girl will thrive in an active home where she can keep busy and burn off her energy. She’s fantastic with people and other dogs, making her a great companion for both humans and furry friends.Chloe absolutely LOVES water—her favorite activity is chasing water from the hose, and she’ll keep you entertained with her enthusiasm!Though Chloe once had an owner, but they’re not responding to her finder or us, so she’s ready to find her forever home. Athena is Searching for Her ForeverThis beautiful soul is Athena, a 3-year-old, 75 lb German Shepherd with so much love to give.Athena’s world was turned upside down when her family surrendered her. Through no fault of her own, she found herself confused, heartbroken, and wondering what she did wrong. But the truth is — she didn’t do anything wrong.Despite all the changes, Athena’s heart remains open. She’s sweet, incredibly gentle with kids, loves other dogs, and adores being near her people. She’s house trained, knows her commands, and if you throw her favorite ball, she’ll light up with joy you can see from a mile away. What Athena wants most is simple: a family to love her forever. Someone who will let her snuggle close, who will throw that ball a hundred times, who will remind her every single day that she’s home — for good.Athena’s loyalty is endless. All she needs is someone willing to give her the chance to show it.Could you be the one to heal her heart?IMPORTANT: Please read all below, especially if you live outside of Texas, which is where our rescue is located.Apply to adopt on our website: https://www.charmingpetrescue.org/adoptAll of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on shots.ALL of our animals are located in Boerne, TX, but transport after adoption is available to other states for a $300 fee for dogs or an additional fee varying by location for cats. Story
- A silly, goofy guy with the cutest floppy ears - Curious, likes to explore and sniff new places and things - Love treats - Knows sit, stay and shake - Prefers to explore and do his own thing here in the shelter, but will likely open up more once he's in a home environment and has had time to decompress - Enjoys spending time with dogs who have a similar play style - Had a femoral head and neck ostectomy (FHO) done on his right hip due to a previous injury (more info at ARL) All adoptable dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and DA2PPV as appropriate for their age)The ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not breed label. Primary Color: Black Weight: 70 Age: 1yrs 9mths 0wks

HOW TO ADOPT: This pet is available for adoption by appointment. To schedule a time to meet this pet, please email fosterinquiry@arl-iowa.org.---- Sweetheart of a dog who loves to cuddle and be next to her people; loves to sleep with her foster family at night - Tennis balls seem to be her favorite toys, but she also loves chew toys and dental chews - Knows sit and down and seems very trainable; does OK on a leash but tends to pull right now, especially when she sees other animals, so she may do best with a harness and a sturdy leash - Has been great with potty training in her foster home; just remember that any dog may need time to get used to a new schedule- Has done great with crate training- Has done well with people visiting her foster home; may bark at first wanting to meet them, but once she has interacted she's fine and likes attention- Has done well with children, even smaller ones, but she sometimes can forget to watch out for those around her when she's excited, so she may do best with kids who are big enough to be OK with that - Tends to be socially awkward with other dogs and would likely prefer to be the only dog in her new home, but may do well with dogs who have a similar personality and play style to hers (dog intro required) All adoptable dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and DA2PPV as appropriate for their age)The ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs.
