Athena is Searching for Her ForeverThis beautiful soul is Athena, a 3-year-old, 75 lb German Shepherd with so much love to give.Athena’s world was turned upside down when her family surrendered her. Through no fault of her own, she found herself confused, heartbroken, and wondering what she did wrong. But the truth is — she didn’t do anything wrong.Despite all the changes, Athena’s heart remains open. She’s sweet, incredibly gentle with kids, loves other dogs, and adores being near her people. She’s house trained, knows her commands, and if you throw her favorite ball, she’ll light up with joy you can see from a mile away. What Athena wants most is simple: a family to love her forever. Someone who will let her snuggle close, who will throw that ball a hundred times, who will remind her every single day that she’s home — for good.Athena’s loyalty is endless. All she needs is someone willing to give her the chance to show it.Could you be the one to heal her heart?IMPORTANT: Please read all below, especially if you live outside of Texas, which is where our rescue is located.Apply to adopt on our website: https://www.charmingpetrescue.org/adoptAll of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on shots.ALL of our animals are located in Boerne, TX, but transport after adoption is available to other states for a $300 fee for dogs or an additional fee varying by location for cats. Story
- A silly, goofy guy with the cutest floppy ears - Curious, likes to explore and sniff new places and things - Love treats - Knows sit, stay and shake - Prefers to explore and do his own thing here in the shelter, but will likely open up more once he's in a home environment and has had time to decompress - Enjoys spending time with dogs who have a similar play style - Had a femoral head and neck ostectomy (FHO) done on his right hip due to a previous injury (more info at ARL) All adoptable dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and DA2PPV as appropriate for their age)The ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable, so for most dogs we are only guessing at primary breed. We get to know each dog as an individual and do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality, not breed label. Primary Color: Black Weight: 73.5 Age: 1yrs 8mths 2wks

HOW TO ADOPT: This pet is available for adoption by appointment. To schedule a time to meet this pet, please email fosterinquiry@arl-iowa.org.---- Sweetheart of a dog who loves to cuddle and be next to her people; loves to sleep with her foster family at night - Tennis balls seem to be her favorite toys, but she also loves chew toys and dental chews - Knows sit and down and seems very trainable; does OK on a leash but tends to pull right now, especially when she sees other animals, so she may do best with a harness and a sturdy leash - Has been great with potty training in her foster home; just remember that any dog may need time to get used to a new schedule- Has done great with crate training- Has done well with people visiting her foster home; may bark at first wanting to meet them, but once she has interacted she's fine and likes attention- Has done well with children, even smaller ones, but she sometimes can forget to watch out for those around her when she's excited, so she may do best with kids who are big enough to be OK with that - Tends to be socially awkward with other dogs and would likely prefer to be the only dog in her new home, but may do well with dogs who have a similar personality and play style to hers (dog intro required) All adoptable dogs and puppies are spayed/neutered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations (rabies and DA2PPV as appropriate for their age)The ARL's shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Story
We found Dixie when she was about 6 months old in a waste management transfer station, she’s now about 3. She was covered in ticks, under weight, injured, had a uti and parasites. We worked hard with the vet to get her back to health and her personality really started to shine, she is such a sweet girl and does so good with our kids, we have 5 year old and 15 month old twins and she is so tolerable with them. The babies literally crawl on top of her, and she doesn’t care. She is very energetic and great with other dogs. She needs a lot of exercise and probably a home with a fenced yard!

Story
Stella is a loving and loyal dog with a protective nature. While she’s not aggressive, her protective instincts can sometimes lead to what we call "resource guarding." In the past, she’s been cautious when she feels uncomfortable with certain actions from people near her. While she has had some mouthy moments in the past, we’re confident that with the right guidance and training, she’ll thrive in a loving, patient home. Stella would do best in a home without small children or other pets, but if you already have a furry friend, we’d recommend a slow introduction and several meet-and-greets to ensure a good fit. Stella is an active and playful girl who loves her daily walks, tug-of-war games, and a good game of fetch. She has an abundance of energy and would be the perfect companion for someone who’s ready to give her the attention and structure she needs to flourish. Her adoption fee covers her spay, vaccinations, microchip, and other necessary treatments. If you’re looking for a devoted and loving dog who will be a loyal companion for years to come, Stella might just be the perfect fit for your family!

Story
Meet Ranger, the intelligent and active Belgian Malinois/German Shepherd mix with a heart full of love and boundless energy. This handsome boy is a fast learner and has mastered essential commands like sit, down, wait, and shake. He's so clever that he tackled a level 3 puzzle on his first try! Ranger is a well-behaved and well-trained pup, making him a pleasure to have around the house. He's house trained, crate trained, and shows no signs of destructiveness indoors. However, he does experience some separation anxiety when his human leaves the house, which is why he's kept in his crate during errands. But don't worry, when he's playing in the backyard with his furry friend, he's perfectly content and doesn't exhibit any separation anxiety. Ranger is an active boy who loves going on walks, and he'll gladly accompany you on all your outdoor adventures. While Ranger is intelligent and affectionate, he can be barrier reactive, meaning he may react when he encounters certain barriers or boundaries. Patience and positive reinforcement training can help him overcome this behavior. This is very typical behavior for both breeds and he absolutely has to be adopted into a Mali/GSD knowledgeable family/ Ranger was in pretty rough shape when rescued and the vet initially thought he had an intestinal disease. Nothing was definitively diagnosed but the vet believes he has small intestinal issues. He is on a folate vitamin daily and will just need annual lab work and a high quality RAW FOOD diet. Ranger's charm and charisma shine through in the photos and videos provided, capturing his playful and loving nature. If you're looking for a smart, active, and affectionate companion, Ranger is the perfect match. Give him the love and care he deserves, and he'll reward you with loyalty and companionship like no other. Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area - $50 Temporary Fuel Charge will be added)

Allow me to introduce myself, I'm Rainier You can probably guess that when I was found and rescued it was raining, it was! However, I was named after the gorgeousness that is Mount Rainier :) I have the highlights and lowlights of the mountain on a sun-cloudy day :) I have a driven personality, not unlike my breed. I am a very medium sized dutchy shepherd and possibly have Belgian Malinois in me as well........and you must KNOW and LOVE the breeds. I make super arm candy, if you will exercise me (and my brain) we will be besties for life! Currently I am living my best life running around green fields of grass with my big radar ears charged and ready to go! You best believe I can hear everything! Better open that bag of treats as quietly as possible or I'll come running in! And I can actually hear you open your laptop to apply to adopt me! HURRY!!
