Hi there! My name is Beni and I'm a big handsome boy! Let me tell you about myself.  I was adopted as a puppy but due to some family problems, with no fault of my own, I was returned to the rescue. My first week or so at my new foster home I was very confused and it was scary. I stayed in my kennel a lot, but I started warming up to my foster mom. We went on walks and I started feeling more comfortable. Then I started to get to know the resident dogs and made friends. Now, I am still nervous around new people but when I get to know you, I'll be your best friend.  I'm a silly boy who likes to play! I run around the backyard, I like to play in the kiddie pool, and even like to stick my head in the water bowl! I do like to play but I love my humans! I want to know where you are so I'll follow you around and I'll jump on the couch or bed to be with you. I wouldn't do well with small children because I'm a bigger guy. I also don't think I'd do well with cats because I want to chase them. I'm a good boy on walks and I ride in the car well! When I see my leash, I get really excited! I also do well in my kennel. A German Shepherd savvy owner who wants to train her, socialize her,  so awkward when meeting new people She is house trained, well mannered for her family and really wants to be a social butterfly, but she needs focus and simple training to be able to do that.  She is good with other dogs.  Cats are unknown.  Small kids might be a bit too chaotic for her.A note from her surrendering ownerWe adopted Pixie in October of 2022 and we have loved having her in our home.  She is sweet and loving and very loyal to her people.  She is an excellent guard dog and lets us know when anyone is close by.  She loves to play fetch and she loves to run around in the yard.  She doesn’t like sudden movements or loud noises.  She is afraid of brooms, mops or anything that resembles a long stick.  Pixie received one-on-one training through Happy Tailz last summer and she proved to be a very good student.  She understands a lot of words and is extremely smart.  We are sad that our situation has changed and has made it difficult for us to take care of Pixie.  We hope Pixie can find her forever home where she can get all the time and love she deserves. I'm in Minnesota dreaming about who we are going to be When we are older I’d love to be by your side forever The only difference Is I’m not home with you. My name is Gloria, and I’m about 2.5 years old (1/2022) Shepherd mix who came over the big waters from Afghanistan in hopes of finding my forever here. NDLB doesn’t know much of my history there, but my foster mom is guessing that I was a stray. Being a shepherd mix, I do shed however I am not tall like a typical shepherd. I love everyone I meet – but can be a bit vocal to start as I want you to come and pet me during introductions. Once you pet me, I’m a good girl wagging happily. With being a possible stray, I have some quirks. I don’t like to feel cornered (people looming over me/many things or people surrounding me), but I am good in a crate so just larger objects. I do tend to jump up onto people, so I’m working on that but until I am better, foster thinks it’d be best to be around older kids. I do like other dogs but may come on a bit strong. I get all excited for a friend. I do not want to share treats or food anywhere near my fur friends, so best to feed me away from them (foster currently feeds me in my kennel – which I’m ok with but may bark at another dog if they come near it while I’m eating). I haven’t met any cats that I’m aware of but I am not good with little dogs (even though I’m fairly short in general). Foster thinks I shouldn’t be near cats with me not liking little dogs anyways. I ride great in a car. I do pull on the leash a bit while walking, but am getting better. My beautiful brown eyes are pleading - Will you please take me home? My name is Sunny, and I’m a 2-year-old Shepard Mix weighing 65 pounds. Despite having some old fractures in my back left leg from being hit by a car, I’m a cheerful and loving girl. I take medication (Galiprant) for pain and inflammation, and I have some arthritis developing in that area so my forever family will need to make sure I stay slim and fit. I absolutely love being around my people and can be a bit of a velcro dog, always wanting to be right by your side. I do have severe separation anxiety, but with the right kind of crate, medications (trazodone, clonidine, and gabapentin), and distractions like toys, talk radio, and treats like Kongs, I've been doing much better. I’m incredibly smart, which means I learn commands and tricks easily, but it also means I can figure out how to open crates, doors, trash cans, and even toilets unless measures are taken to prevent it. I’m super playful and love toys, especially crinkly and squeaky ones, and I adore chasing balls. Sometimes, I get a bit hyper and playful-aggressive, especially if I’ve been crated for a while or am greeting someone who has been away. I use my mouth a lot when I’m happy and excited, snapping my jaws and mouthing at people. I’m known as the "sweet shark" around my foster home because of it! Normally, my mouthing isn’t a big deal, and I can be redirected, but sometimes I bite a bit hard out of excitement. Because of this, I might not be the best fit for homes with young kids or people who are hesitant around dogs. I’m almost potty trained as long as I’m on a good schedule, and I do well with a special crate. I broke out of traditional wire and plastic crates, but I sleep in a plastic crate at night without breaking out since I can see my humans. I do require a fenced yard as I am not leash trained. I know commands like 'Sit,' 'Kennel/Crate,' 'Wait,' 'Go Potty,' and 'Lay Down.' I get along well with dogs of all sizes, though I’ve never lived with another dog. Given my separation anxiety, having another dog might help me, but I’m not sure since I’ve been doing better with my medications and special crate. I’m a sweet, goofy girl who’s been through a lot and deserves all the love. I’m super loyal and loving, and I’ll reciprocate all the affection I receive. I love doing happy dances when I win at playing tug with my toys, and I make my humans laugh every day with my silly smiles and joyful exuberance.
