Story
Sweet Ruger this stunning German Shepherd is ready to be the good boy of your dreams. At 2 years old, he has already been through quite a lot in life. He was recently rescued from Swainsboro, Georgia, and thankfully he is blossoming under the care and love he has received here at Home for Good. Ruger is fully grown at 54 pounds and sports a healthy, lush tri-color German Shepherd coat.
Ruger came to us a bit fearful from what he had endured, but he has grown much more confident and content now that he knows he is safe. This sweet boy is so calm and submissive. He needs a little time to warm up to humans but does so beautifully. Ruger warms up to people and his environment best when accompanied with another confident canine. Having other dogs around makes Ruger feel much more confident and ready to play. If he has any kid siblings at home he asks that they are respectful and patient with him while he gets acclimated.
Ruger is a darling boy who is working so hard to overcome his difficult past, but we know with the right family ready to love and adore him the way he deserves, he will flourish. Won’t you come give this sweet boy a chance at love and happiness?
Ruger is neutered, up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations, and microchipped.
Given the conditions Ruger originated from, upon rescue, he tested positive for Heartworm disease. Thanks to Home for Good Dog Rescue, Ruger has completed his Heartworm treatment.
*Heartworm disease is a serious and if left untreated, fatal disease. It is caused by foot-long worms (heartworms) that live in the heart, lungs, and associated blood vessels of affected animals, causing severe lung disease, heart failure, and damage to other organs in the body. Mosquitoes are carriers of heartworms and have the ability to infect dogs all year round, especially in the Southeastern portion of the United States and during the summer months.*

HFG Dog Rescue is a 100 percent foster-based rescue located in Berkeley Heights, NJ with a sister location, The Almost Home Wellness Center, in Aiken, SC. All of our dogs are rescued from kill shelters in SC + GA and once ready for adoption live in loving local NJ foster homes until they find forever families of their own. Our fosters begin basic training, housebreaking, and leash-walking skills to help pair you with the perfect pup for life!
