Meet Emoji, the strikingly handsome Shepherd mix who was dumped outside our shelter not long ago. When he first arrived, this tall and timid boy was understandably confused, unsure of why he had been left behind. But in just a few days, Emoji’s true colors started to shine. Beneath that initial sadness is a playful, funny, and incredibly sweet boy who’s ready to steal your heart. Emoji is the perfect blend of fun and eagerness to learn. He adores a good game of fetch and will wait patiently for you to launch the next tennis ball his way—especially if you’re using a Nerf gun! His favorite activities include getting his ears and butt scratched and showing off his skills on the leash, where he walks beautifully. While we suspect Emoji knows more of the basic commands than he lets on, he does have a bit of selective hearing, especially when he’s bubbling with excitement wanting to play! At around 1.5-2 years old, Emoji is a big, strong pup who does have a habit of jumping when he’s happy, so he’ll need a family that understands his exuberance. We’re highly recommending someone with experience in German Shepherds or working breeds. Emoji is curious and intelligent, traits that demand plenty of exercise and mental stimulation. A fenced-in yard is a MUST for this adventurous boy, giving him the space to explore safely. Despite his rough start, Emoji has shown positive interactions with other dogs, loves his cozy blankets, and has a soft spot for yummy treats. And those kisses he gives? Absolutely the sweetest. Meet Poppy, a 10-month-old German Shepherd mix with a heart full of love and a playful spirit. Poppy is a sweet, yet timid pup who enjoys frolicking with other dogs and loves outdoor activities. However, she has a curious habit of nibbling on mulch, dirt, and plants during her adventures. At home, she thrives on routine and is 90% housetrained. Poppy learns best by observing other dogs, though she sometimes misses their corrections. Poppy has done well with calm children aged 10 and older, though she may try to herd smaller kids and bark at them. She's a cuddle bug who will happily join you on the couch or bed, though she prefers to sleep on the floor or in her own dog bed. Poppy is also working on her manners around meal times with her foster siblings. Poppy does come with special needs, as she has been diagnosed with Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO). This condition requires a committed owner who can work closely with an internal medicine specialist. Regular lab work and possibly monthly injections will be necessary to manage her condition. While Poppy may experience intermittent flare-ups of diarrhea, she still has so much love to give to a patient and dedicated family. Poppy would do best in a home without fluffy animals, as she is overly interested in how their fur moves.
