You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs. Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families. We have many sponsorship dogs. Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :)When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :) So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application.The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue. Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding. Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :)Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us!UPDATE 3/5/2024: Buddy is having some issues being 'stiff' but as long as you don't have stairs he does great. He does guard his toys but if you do a trade with a snack he will give them up :) Looking for a GS experienced ownerUPDATE: Buddy is looking fantastic!! He is a little 'stiff' in his old age but I told him its OK so am I! He LOVES attention, he likes his toys and he is great with the dogs although I think he would be just as happy as an only dog he does fine with all the dogs here at the ranch :)I can only imagine how Buddy must have felt... I am very shy but with some patience and TLC I warm up and I am very sweet. I would like a home that has experience working with under-socialized dogs. I ask any children in the home be over 13 years old due to my nervousness and fear of new people. I could get along with another dog with a proper introduction, and I have lived with others before. Maggie is a German Shepherd 10 years old. She is a big girl at roughly 100 lbs. She is create and house trained. She has not been exposed to children or other animals. But we have not had any issues at the vet. When we have company she gets excited until she visits everybody but then will lay down and relax. Her right ear doen not stand due to a hematoma being surgically removes. Since then she has had no issues with her ears. She is up to date with her shots and is microchipped. Our daughter got her in 2014 but moved to ab apartment and could not take her. My ex-wife then took responsibility for her but then the ex-wife left as well. So I took over the care of Maggie. Since then we have cared for her, but recently have been burdened with health issues. My wife is fighting cancer and needing a lot of time for dr visits and such. I have been troubled knee issues and have been told that I will need a knee replacement very soon. We need to place Maggie immediately.

Leon is a 3 years old, September. I rescued him at 6 months old. He has separation anxiety and whines quite a lot if left unattended. Very vocal when it comes to wanting attention or on guard to protect household. We are expecting in October and will be unable to give him the dedication he deserves. With a household of 2 small children, baby on the way and 2 parents working full time. We have our hands full. We find ourselves not being able to give him the attention he needs. Looking for an experienced adopter who specializes in rescues and/or special needs required. Someone willing to dedicate time. Leon tries to be the alpha in the household. Stern love and physical affection, rough play dog. He is very sweet and loving but requires a lot of physical attention and physical activity. Adoption fee up for discussion, just looking for someone to not give up on him and provide happy healthy home.
