Story
Hey there, my name is Ruth Ann! I'm a young Shepherd mix looking for a new home. I did not come to the shelter under the best conditions but they are working to help me heal and learn to trust. I am very shy but with some patience and TLC I warm up and I am very sweet. I would like a home that has experience working with under-socialized dogs. I ask any children in the home be over 13 years old due to my nervousness and fear of new people. I could get along with another dog with a proper introduction, and I have lived with others before. However, my dog pals should be larger or similar in size. I am open to living with a cat with a slow intro as well. Once I come out of my shell I am very loving and would be a fantastic companion. If you think you could give me the home I deserve then come down and lets meet!---The Pennsylvania SPCA - Lancaster Center848 S. Story
Hey there, I'm Bonnie! I am a lovely and sweet pup looking to find my furever home. I can be a bit rambunctious and do have a stubborn side, but enjoy spending time with people! However, I do ask that any children be 3+. I may do alright with a dog companion, but would likely prefer them to be on the calmer side so I don't get overwhelmed. Additionally, I may do well with cats with a proper introduction. If you think I would be a perfect fit in your life, please visit and get to know me!---If you are interested in adopting, please come prepared --bring a photo ID, proof of address, and everyone in the home including resident dogs with vaccination history. We are open daily 12-6pm.---The Pennsylvania SPCA - Lancaster Center848 S. Prince St. Lancaster PA 17603Kennel #16516717-917-6979lancaster@pspca.org

Story
Koda is a 6-year-old German Shepherd originally rescued in Yokosuka, Japan when he was just 1 yr old. He is from a family of police dogs, but did not undergo formal training due to abandonment. He has completed basic obedience and is a very loving boy. He is looking for a best friend who will be his companion for the rest of his life. We have had Koda for over 5 years now and never thought we would be in a position to have to rehome, but life threw a curve ball at us and we know Koda deserves better than what we can give him now. Koda suffers from separation anxiety, but we are hoping the right person will ease this transition for him. His next owner may feel he needs further formal behavioral training to fix his reactivity. It is imperative to us that he does not get rehomed again after this, so we are urging anyone interested to please reconsider if you have young children, a small breed dog, a geriatric animal, or cats (Koda does not know his size and can play rough).

Story
Gunner is a very protective dog. He is very playful and active and needs lots of exercise to release his energy. I am hoping someone with dog experience can adopt him. My husband passed away and I can no longer care for him. I am trying to adopt him out to avoid the SPCA.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :)When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :)Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us!UPDATE 3/5/2024:  Buddy is having some issues being 'stiff' but as long as you don't have stairs he does great.  He does guard his toys but if you do a trade with a snack he will give them up :)  Looking for a GS experienced ownerUPDATE:  Buddy is looking fantastic!!  He is a little 'stiff' in his old age but I told him its OK so am I!  He LOVES attention, he likes his toys and he is great with the dogs although I think he would be just as happy as an only dog he does fine with all the dogs here at the ranch :)I can only imagine how Buddy must have felt...  Like no one cared, defeated, ready to give up, a banquet for fleas and tics :(  It took us quite a while to get him back to health and still he deals with ear infections from repeated ones not being treated :(  No worries now big man you are loved and valued!Buddy you have your 2nd Chance and we are going to give you an amazing life!!REQUIRES FENCED YARD!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not.   A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop!August 7, 2024, 7:26 pm

Story
Everyone wants the dog to be saved but no one wants to adopt the dog Stormy is one of our several adoptables who escaped timestamp at ACCT Philly. She has been waiting six months for someone to come along and apply to meet her. We are fingers crossed it’s out there soon!  This lovely girl was surrendered to the open intake shelter in Philadelphia with a terrible injury to her eye.  Her injury was more than the veterinary staff at the shelter could handle or properly treat so she was quickly timestamped. We saw her and knew she deserved a second chance. After getting her to foster and one of our vet partners, sadly her eye could not be saved and successfully removed. Since she had no vision in the damaged eye removing it has not altered her life in anyway!  Stormy is an approx 3 year old Husky/Shep mix.  Some of Stormy’s favorite things are belly rubs, cuddles, getting brushed and going on car rides. She walks beautifully on leash, takes treats very gently and has shown no signs of resource guarding while in our care. She knows many basic commands, which comes in very handy when she sees squirrels and bunnies and follows the leave it command beautifully! Stormy uses a heavy duty crate to keep her safe when her foster isn’t home and does well. She doesn’t love being home alone for super long periods of time but has continued to improve. She absolutely loves all humans, both tiny and adult Stormy gets so excited when she meets other doggies. Her play style can be a little over the top, so a dog who can keep up with her play will be needed if any dogs reside in the home. Due to her prey drive, no small dogs or cats for this sweet girl To adopt Stormy: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/NARP/Dog &#225&#180&#183&#225&#181&#137&#226&#129&#191&#226&#129&#191&#225&#181&#137&#203&#161 &#203&#161&#226&#129&#177&#225&#182&#156&#225&#181&#137&#226&#129&#191&#203&#162&#225&#181&#137:  ¹&#226&#129&#182¹&#226&#129&#176&#226&#129&#181 &#225&#180&#190&#225&#180&#188 &#225&#180&#174&#225&#181&#146&#203&#163 ³&#226&#129&#176¹ &#225&#181&#129&#202&#183&#225&#182&#156&#202&#176&#203&#161&#225&#181&#131&#226&#129&#191&#225&#181&#136, &#225&#180&#190&#225&#180&#172 ¹&#226&#129&#185&#226&#129&#180&#226&#129&#184&#226&#129&#176  &#225&#180&#183&#225&#181&#137 &#226&#129&#191&#226&#129&#191 &#225&#181&#137&#203&#161   &#203&#161 &#226&#129&#177 &#225&#182&#156&#225&#181&#137 &#226&#129&#191 &#203&#162&#225&#181&#137 :    ¹&#226&#129&#182¹&#226&#129&#176&#226&#129&#181 &#225&#180&#190&#225&#180&#188   &#225&#180&#174&#225&#181&#146&#203&#163  ³&#226&#129&#176¹ &#225&#181&#129 &#202&#183 &#225&#182&#156 &#202&#176 &#203&#161&#225&#181&#131 &#226&#129&#191 &#225&#181&#136 ,  &#225&#180&#190&#225&#180&#172  ¹&#226&#129&#185&#226&#129&#180&#226&#129&#184&#226&#129&#176   &#225&#180&#183&#225&#181&#137 &#226&#129&#191&#226&#129&#191 &#225&#181&#137&#203&#161   &#203&#161 &#226&#129&#177 &#225&#182&#156&#225&#181&#137 &#226&#129&#191 &#203&#162&#225&#181&#137 :    ¹&#226&#129&#182¹&#226&#129&#176&#226&#129&#181 &#225&#180&#190&#225&#180&#188   &#225&#180&#174&#225&#181&#146&#203&#163  ³&#226&#129&#176¹ &#225&#181&#129 &#202&#183 &#225&#182&#156 &#202&#176 &#203&#161&#225&#181&#131 &#226&#129&#191 &#225&#181&#136 ,  &#225&#180&#190&#225&#180&#172  ¹&#226&#129&#185&#226&#129&#180&#226&#129&#184&#226&#129&#176 August 19, 2024, 11:07 am
