You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :)When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :)Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us!UPDATE 3/5/2024:  Buddy is having some issues being 'stiff' but as long as you don't have stairs he does great.  He does guard his toys but if you do a trade with a snack he will give them up :)  Looking for a GS experienced ownerUPDATE:  Buddy is looking fantastic!!  He is a little 'stiff' in his old age but I told him its OK so am I!  He LOVES attention, he likes his toys and he is great with the dogs although I think he would be just as happy as an only dog he does fine with all the dogs here at the ranch :)I can only imagine how Buddy must have felt...  Like no one cared, defeated, ready to give up, a banquet for fleas and tics :(  It took us quite a while to get him back to health and still he deals with ear infections from repeated ones not being treated :(  No worries now big man you are loved and valued!Buddy you have your 2nd Chance and we are going to give you an amazing life!!REQUIRES FENCED YARD!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not.   A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop!August 7, 2024, 7:26 pm

This sweet girl, her mom and 6 siblings got surrendered at a local kill shelter and she was just hours away from being euthanized. A lady with a kind heart rescued her and now she is safe with Funny Farm. She is such a sweet loving girl and at about 4 months old already weighs 25 pounds so we are thinking she will be large. She will be ready to travel to her forever home about Aug 17th if everything goes as planned. If you are searching for a puppy who will grow to be large, look no further. Please visit funnyfarmpets.org where you can read all about our TN based rescue and how the adoption and transport process works. If you are interested in adopting you will need to submit the application at https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/FFRR/Dog Her adoption fee will be $399 and if she has to be transported from TN, the transport fee is an additional $200 She will be fully vetted :)

PLEASE NOTE! Unless stated otherwise, our dogs and puppies are located in Arkansas, and transported to the north/northeast once adopted. We do occasionally have dogs/puppies placed in foster homes in the north/northeast. In the cases where the pet is somewhere other than Arkansas, it will be noted beside the name of the pet.&#226&#128&#188&#239&#184&#143Kuma graduates from Paws in Prison in just a few weeks. We’d really love for him to have an adopter ready and waiting&#226&#128&#188&#239&#184&#143 &#226&#173&#144&#239&#184&#143Great with kids (even toddlers) and other dogs!&#226&#173&#144&#239&#184&#143 &#226&#173&#144&#239&#184&#143From Arkansas Paws in Prison Foundation- “Hush. Don’t say it. Not one word. That’s not why we’re ear. I mean, here. We want to concentrate on how cute, sweet and genuine Kuma is. All this adorableness, and he’s not even an earling yet. I mean, yearling. Kuma is about 7-8 months old. He weighs 30 pounds and is a mix of who the heck knows. Maybe some shepherd or lab or Hubble telescope. Just about anything is possible. We love this sweet guy and his extra large, over the top, might be a Guinness world record sized…heart. You thought we were gonna say ears, didn’t you? Nope. We’re not saying a word. Except that Kuma is magnificent!” &#226&#173&#144&#239&#184&#143This little guy is just wonderful! He is housetrained, leash trained, good with other dogs, good with kids (even toddlers!), and loves everyone he meets! &#226&#173&#144&#239&#184&#143He is fully vetted (neutered, UTD on age appropriate vaccines, microchipped, and started on flea/tick and heartworm prevention). Located in Arkansas, but transport is available. These inmates have gone through training themselves, to learn how to properly train the dogs. Once enrolled, the dog lives at the prison with the inmates for 8 weeks. During that time, they are trained in basic obedience. They learn skills like house training, basic commands, leash walking, manners, etc. The inmates and the dogs all meet with the trainer once a week in a common area, where all the dogs are together, and each week they show the trainer what they have learned, and get assigned new tasks for the following week. Each inmate keeps a journal on their dog. The journal is passed along to the adopter one the dog is adopted. The journal tells all about the dog, what they have learned, what they still need to work on, likes/dislikes, etc. At the end of the 8 weeks, the dog goes thru the Canine Good Citizen test.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Our typical adoption fee for puppies younger than 6 months old is $400, and for older puppies and adults, the usual fee is $350. This includes microchip, spay/neuter,  up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, dewormings, flea/tick treatment, and heartworm test (if over 6 months old) as well as heartworm treatment if they test positive. There is a transport fee of $150 per dog, depending on the transporter. We use Pack Leaders Rescue Dog Transport most often, but also use Hearts Transport as well on occasion. Story
Leon is a 3 years old, September. I rescued him at 6 months old. He has separation anxiety and whines quite a lot if left unattended. Very vocal when it comes to wanting attention or on guard to protect household. We are expecting in October and will be unable to give him the dedication he deserves. With a household of 2 small children, baby on the way and 2 parents working full time. We have our hands full. We find ourselves not being able to give him the attention he needs. Looking for an experienced adopter who specializes in rescues and/or special needs required. Someone willing to dedicate time. Leon tries to be the alpha in the household. Stern love and physical affection, rough play dog. He is very sweet and loving but requires a lot of physical attention and physical activity. Adoption fee up for discussion, just looking for someone to not give up on him and provide happy healthy home.

Story
Zara is a 4-year-old German Shepard rescue that was left behind a dumpster as a puppy. We got her a few years ago. She is a sweet dog and is very playful. She needs an owner who can allow her to be very active. We now have 2 children, and after our second child was born our schedule has gotten so busy she has become stressed out as we have a small house and it is simply not her domain anymore. We have debated rehoming her for over a year and are sad to see her go, but know she will be a lot happier in a home where she can get the attention she needs. She is very good with children and plays well with other dogs as well!
